    I'm planning on changing my oil in the next couple of weeks. I have a quart of Mobil One 5W40 sitting around, and I'm planning on using Mobil One 0W40. Can I mix one quart of 5W40 with 8 quarts of 0W40? Both are approved viscosities.

    I also have stock 17" rims, and I've been wondering the same thing. The 205's are just too skinny, and result in significant understeer.

    I've had my car for just over ten years now, and I've never driven it in the rain, so I've never used the wipers. I'm thinking of just removing the wiper arms permanently because they just get in the way when I wash and dry the car. They look easy to remove -- I assume I pry off the cover caps to expose the nuts, then unbolt using a socket, then just lift off the wiper arms. My question is what to do with the stubs that remain. They'll need to be covered with something. Any suggestions?

    You should be able to get matching dye from this place. http://www.goestores...ept-231236.aspx I think they sent me a color chart that I used to find the best match for my interior.

    I've tried Dr. Colorchip and never had good results. I would buy OEM touch-up paint and Langka. I've had much better results with Langka.

    Yes, agreed. I think it's a good idea to wash the whole car and the brake calipers thoroughly to remove any brake fluid droplets that may have splashed on painted surfaces.

    Thanks. I'll have to check out the local pet shop for the aquarium tubing. I also noticed that Purell hand sanitizer in a pump dispenser has a thin plastic tube attached to it, so it might fit through the opening.

    I have a similar question. Once you get the screen out, there are a few plastic pieces that block your access to the fluid. There's no way I could get a turkey baster in there. What is everyone using to remove the old fluid?

    Here's another supplier for the plastic piece: www.plastic-supply.com. I recently bought some custom-cut small HDPE pieces from them for my home. They're quite willing to deal with small orders.

    On my wife's BMW wagon, which spent a lot of time outdoors, I tried several products to get rid of water stains, and I never fully got rid of them before we sold the car last year. I have a Porter Cable and none of the products that I used with that worked either. At the suggestion of a local detailer, I tried Meguiar's Fine Cut Cleaner, which requires a circular polisher (rather and an orbital polisher), and that didn't do it either. The detailer said if that didn't work, the next thing would be to ty Meguiar's Medium Cut Cleaner, which I didn't try. Frankly, at this point, since it's obviously bothering you, I would take it to a local reputable detailer and let them do it. Good luck. After that, I would buy a Porter Cable 7424 and maintain the finish yourself.

    What's the shelf life of brake fluid that has been opened. I have a can that I opened about 5 years ago to top up my brake fluid, so most of the 1/2 litre is still there. After I opened it, I wrapped it several times with Saran wrap to prevent moisture from seeping into the can, and haven't opened it since then. Is this still okay to use?

    I have the Porsche battery maintainer and it is sufficient to retain clock, seat and radio memory, but if you have that connected, you need to wrap the positive connector in a towel or cloth and avoid letting it touch any metal part of the car when you're swapping batteries. Note, re-coding the radio is no big deal. It's restoring all your radio station presets, tone, balance and other settings that actually takes a while.

    I have 15mm H&R spacers on my front wheels (17") and they improve the looks noticeably. You'll need to buy longer bolts, but since the original bolts are pretty cheap looking and rust quickly, I replaced all mine with very attactive chrome lug bolts made by Boothe Design. They are very high quality and even have the swivel washer built in.

    This is not something that came with your car, but sounds interesting. Sounds like the previous owner bought a Homelink module and managed to install it in the overhead console. Could you post a photo? I'm sure those on this forum would be interested.

    I thought the vinyl airbag came only with four-spoke steering wheels, and the emblem was embossed into the vinyl as opposed to the multi-colored gold crest. At least that's how the vinyl airbag was on my car before I switched it for the three-spoke wheel and leather airbag (with multi-color gold crest). Also, I think there was a year when even the leather airbag came with a silver multi-color crest, so be careful what you order.

    Is the spring clip tightly in place? It shouldn't move around at all. If it does, you should be able to re-install it properly using the instructions above. Also, see if there are any small black plastic pieces that broke off the hinge. In my case, I saw a broken piece of plastic and realized that was the problem. Most likely, your problem is the hinge if the gas door is flopping around when open.

    It sounds like you had the same problem that I had. Take a look at the parts diagram above. If you're missing part no 6 (the spring clip), then just buy that and clip it back into place. In my case, the spring clip was neither missing nor defective. I had to replace the plastic hinge, part no. 5, which is not very easy. Mainly, the problem is getting the old one off. Since it's plastic, the trick is to yank it off or pry it off without scratching the car. Study the instructions in the link above on how to remove the gas door. I did this two years ago, so I don't remember all the details, but make sure you tape the gas door and the surrounding areas of the body with duct tape to avoid scratches. Also, once the gas door is off the hinge, it's going to either fly off or fall on the floor or the body of your car, so having someone hold onto it will help avoid damage. Good luck.

    I used Roxio to burn the music that I ripped into .wav format, but it seems it didn't convert to standard CD audio format when I burned the music onto a CD-R. I checked Windows Media Player 11, and it will apparently do this if you check off "audio CD" instead of "data CD" when burning.

    You will need a package to convert and write the cd as an audio cd. Typically the files on a cd that will play on a normal cd player such as you have are in .cda (cd audio) format. A package such as Nero Burning Rom or any other 'cd making' package will automatically convert .wma or .wav or .mp3 to the correct format and at the same time write it to cd that a standard cd player will recognise. A standard cd player won't play a cd with .wav files on. Thanks. Will a standards CD player play .wma files? If so, that's the easy solution. Otherwise, I think a later version of Windows Media Player will do what you suggested.
