  1. RFM I think you misunderstand me - something lost in translation :huh: . I understand that it is an easy retrofit, but it seems that Porsche in the UK are making it difficult to buy the stalk by itself. They tell me the original part is no longer available, and the replacement part is supplied on an exchange basis only. If you don't have an old one to exchange there is a surcharge. Maybe guys in the UK should try to find a supplier in Belgium to get the parts! Many thanks for all the information about wiring and programming. Your posts are always helpful.
  2. That's not what Porsche Reading told me. Can you double-check to see if it is available in Belgium separately? I would be interested to see that too.
  3. I am assuming that the wiring harness plugs in to the steering column control module - the same way it does on a 987 cruise retrofit. When I tried to order the individual parts, the OPC told me that I could buy the stalk separately, BUT it was an exchange item, and if I didn't return the old unit there was a £201 ($400) surcharge. They would happily sell me the retrofit kit though. I didn't buy one. By the way, the part number of the switch has changed. It is now 955 613 261 X B41, and is priced at about £72.

  8. According to the manual, the new control module is supplied in an 'unlocked' condition, and it has to be 'locked' before it will work. Once locked, it cannot be unlocked. You need a Hammer, PST2, or PIWIS to lock the unit. I'll try to extract the info from the manual and PM you.
  9. Were you able to code/lock the new control module with a Hammer or PST2? The unit has to be locked or the abs light will continue to come on.
  10. That's exactly what should happen. Unless you have some kind of intermittent fault, I would suspect the key remote. Try a new battery, and also see the TSB about changing it, as it shows a prodedure for resetting the remote.
  11. On UK cars (and I assume Aussie ones too) the alarm LED at the centre of the windscreen flashes rapidly for about 10 seconds when locking the car, and then settles down to a single-flash every 2 seconds. The LED on the locking button flashes while the dash LED is rapid-flashing, but goes off once the system is armed. If the dash LED single-flashes, and there are no horn beeps when you lock the car, then there are no faults on the car side of the system. If it single or double beeps, and the LED double-flashes, then you have a fault. If there are no faults, do you have another remote key you could try? Failing that, it's a trip to a dealer or independent workshop to read out the fault memory.
  12. Australia=RHD, so the control unit will be under the passenger seat. Jason, from what you have said, I'm still not clear if the car is locking at all. Can you lock/unlock both doors with the key from the driver's door? Edit: Also, looking at the fuse assignments on the wiring diagram, there seem to be two other fuses which relate to the alarm system - B8 and E1.
  13. The Tequipment Catalogue is Porsche's catalogue of all the aftersales parts you can buy. Everything from carpet mats to exhausts. (Go to GB > Genuine Parts Catalogue > Tequipment Cayenne, but being an old version, it doesn't show the cruise kit.   14. The Tequipment Catalogue lists a retrofit for the Cayenne - Part Number 955.044.903.00 at £325 +VAT, but it is MUCH cheaper to buy the parts individually. I don't know if the Tequipment price includes fitting, but I doubt it. If you DIY you will need to find someone with a PIWIS tester to code the car afterwards. It sounds like your OPC are trying to fob you off, as they probably don't know how to do it. Apparently, the instructions are in the on-line PIWIS system.
  15. The seller has added a note to the listing since I told him that there was a problem. The folks at Durametric are aware of these Chinese made counterfeits, and say that the ones they have seen can simply stop working after a few days. Maybe that's what happened to mine, or maybe the latest software blocked it. Either way, I feel a bit dumb and naive thinking it might be genuine - in my defence the picture was of a genuine cable. The good news is that the seller has offered a refund - let's hope he's true to his word.
  16. It arrived today. It is a counterfeit of the Durametric. Not realising that at first (never having seen the genuine article), I installed the software and it connected to the car OK and read out the DME information. I saw that it was version 3.0.15 of the software, so downloaded and updated to the latest version. Now it doesn't want to connect, and if I look in Options I see that the software says it is a counterfeit cable. Live and learn.
  17. I just phoned the seller, and he told me there is no limit to the number of cars. I'll let you know in a few days if it's true, or if I've been ripped off.
  18. Can you read the CD on a PC? If so, try doing a disk copy to a CD-R and use this in the PCM drive.
  19. Yes - the wiring for cruise on a 2001 C4 is the same as the 2000 Boxster 2.7. I'll PM you a simple wiring diagram.
  20. See the thread in the 986 Boxster DIY forum. It is the same as a 2000 2.7 Boxster retrofit.
  21. Getting the key ito the ignition might be an ignition switch fault. The locking problem sounds like it might be a bad door microswitch, but a fault should be logged to confirm what the problem is. As a stopgap, try the emergency locking procedure - turn the key in the door to the lock position and back 3 times in quick succession.
