  1. They look like the ones I got from Mid America Motorworks, but they don't seem to list Porsche stuff any more. I lost some clips from mine, so I'd be interested to know where you got replacement clips from.
  2. Not a great deal of use, but there is a quick reference guide here: http://www.beckerautosound.com/Porsche/05_...cdr24_6645.html
  3. Loren You might want to check that yet again! It looks like the 997.101.212.01 seal has disappeared from the latest 9x6 PET parts listing. Very strange.
  4. Scouser's decoder is correct - that VIN is for a 1991 Carrera 2 Cabriolet Tiptronic. Either it is the wrong VIN, or walk away, and don't look back!
  5. I don't know if these are available in the US, but they always seemed like a good idea to me: http://www.eberspacher.com/products/water-heating/
  6. Over this side of the pond, Porsche are unbelievably stringent on their warranty. I have heard of cases where extended warranty has been refused by the addition of an aftermarket radio, non-Porsche battery, bluetooth kit, parking sensors. Crazy, but true.
  7. I have been told you have to hit the ^ or 6 button (up-arrow or #6) after entering the code.
  8. Yes, there is a reset time, but I thought it was one hour. I believe that after 10 incorrect attempt the unit locks up completely, and you have to get it unlocked by a Blaupunkt distributor. Maybe you could get a manual for it which might confirm that. Is it the Toronto SQR46? I think there are places you can download it, but they all seem to charge....
  9. I have a Blaupunkt decoder, but the serial number you quote doesn't quite fit. Here is the result I got by dropping the first zero:
  10. It is a UK car, and the registration plates are date-related. 53 is late 2003/early 2004.
  11. If that was an Independent Porsche Specialist, how come they charged 50% more than an Official Porsche Centre? http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandse...servicepricing/ The inside faces corrode really badly, especially if the car is used infrequently. The amazing thing is how bad they can get without being able to feel it through the pedal.
  12. Excellent! Thanks for passing that tip on. Slightly off-topic, but just in case is is of interest to anyone, I came across this place who can de-code the CDR23: http://ice.dndservices.co.uk/shop_show_ite...ecode_index.php
  13. I don't know what grade, but it's stainless.
  14. I don't know about any hidden menus, but you can get the country coding changed by someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester.
  15. I think the 'juddering' effect occurs when a wide tyre is turning a tight radius - the outside edge is having to move a greater distance than the inside edge. I believe that it is the slippage that has to occur which causes the effect. On mine, it is only noticeable when reversing, and I have no idea why that is........
  16. That's strange. My PET lists the 997....01 seal for the 996.
  17. I hope I'm not repeating a post from someone else. (You try doing a search for RMS!!) I see that the 997 seal has been updated! The latest number is 997.101.212.01. Must have happened quite recently.
  18. I've just got my 996TT back from having the transmission leak fixed. It was just a small weep, but I hate anything like that. First, as Loren suggested, I changed the oil pan seal, as that was where the fluid was collecting. Then I thought it was from the seals where the fluid pipes go in to the ATF cooler, but these were replaced without improving the situation. After changing them, it was obvious the engine and transmission had to come out, as the leak was higher up. I had hoped that it was from a seal on where an ATF pipe goes in to the top side of the main casing, but it wasn't that either. It turned out to be the intermediate plate/gasket between the bell housing and the main casing (item 544 on the attached). The problem is that you have to separate the transfer casing to take the box apart, and the gaskets shown in the diagram Loren posted are not available, as he says. Fortunately the gaskets weren't damaged when it came apart, so they were re-used, but applied with Loctite 574 sealant before re-assembly. The other areas they seem to leak from are the oil seal around the nose of the oil pump (item 70) and the oil seal on the output shaft of the transfer case (see Loren's diagram). Both seals are MB parts, and available from Porsche.
  19. Yes. I bought the "2006" disks, and subsequently the 2008 disks, and they had the V2->V3 software update disks in the kit. I haven't got them to hand, but I am sure they are the same software update disks as shown in the TSB.
  20. Press MAIN and TRIP at the same time.
  21. No, that's not the whole schematic - just a small section. The alarm control module is under the left hand seat (driver's side for LHD), and has a label on it saying M535 (in the US).
  22. This is from the 99 Alarm schematic. These are the only two wires I can see going to the turn signals:
  23. Even though your brake lights are working, you might still want to check your brake light switch. There are two sets of contacts in the switch, (one normally open, and the other normally closed) and both are connected to the cruise actuator.
  24. Maybe for you guys, not here, I paid $380,000 for my 04 TT when I bought it, a good used 01/02 TT here still runs up to $200,000, I am loctaed in AUS. Loren thanks for the reply, would you have an indication on what parts would be required to do this? Thanks again for any replies. That's crazy! 200,000AUD=130,000USD=87,000GBP. I paid 31,500GBP for my TT in August, and prices here have dropped a couple of thousand since. At that rate you could by a car in the UK and have it shipped to Oz for less than half the price you would pay locally. Is that an option, or do they charge 200% import duty? By the way, I'm with wross996TT on the PCM issue. Why replace one obsolete system with another obsolete (and hugely complicated and expensive) system, when an aftermarket 2-DIN system will be a much easier fit, have better functionality, and save a fortune. Just my 0.02 GBP's worth.
  25. What RFM is suggesting is that the alarm control module is in energy saving (transit) mode. To wake it up, you need to have someone connect the Porsche PIWIS or PST2 computer, and run a routine found in the Special Function section of the program named "Sports Car Handover". This should have been done when the car was new by the dealer. I have personally seen two cars that had the same issue, and were 4-5 years old at the time. There are other cases quoted on this forum. Whether the dealer just forgot to do it, or they somehow slipped into sleep mode, nobody seems to know.
