  1. Where did you find the rear spoiler? Have a link?
  2. I like it. Subtle, and not OTT. My nephew has a 997 C2S, and I think it is just crying out for something like this. Definitely painted IMO, not carbon - unless your car is black, then maybe.
  3. Result! And so much cheaper than the OPC "solution"!!
  4. The switch contacts often get pitted and don't make contact properly. There are two contacts in the switch - one normally open, and the other normally closed. Even though the brake lights might work, the problem could still be in the switch. Another possible cause is an ABS sensor. Did the radiator hose blast coolant all over the brake area? If so that might be the culprit. It might be worth checking the plug/socket connection.
  5. PCM2.1 (DVD) was fitted to the MY2005 997's, but I believe wross is correct that MY2005 996's still had the older PCM2.0 (CD) system. If you have a map disk, it is printed on the face with the version and disk type.
  6. Thank you, that's excellent. I feel another project coming on......
  7. I quite like the idea of fitting a tyre pressure monitoring system to my 996T, and some of the aftermarket systems look good and are reasonably priced. However, they seem to be for wheels that use rubber valves, rather than the metal-stem valves used on the hollow-spoke Turbo and Sport Techno wheels. Has anyone fitted a system to their 996T?
  8. For when you have a few days to spare and nothing to do.......... http://www.porsche-se.com/all/transitional...n/index.htm#/1/ Interesting stats are summarised on page 2.
  9. Andrew - I bought trieu's piano black trim for my Pioneer. It is very nice in the high-gloss black, but I kept thinking it would look nicer in a satin finish to match the surrounding plastic. I had some vinyl trim tape I bought on eBay for another job, so I took out the bezel, and applied it to the opposite side. The tape wasn't wide enough to do it in one piece, so I did it in two, putting a small gap to match the line in the dash. Trieu had supplied two logo stickers, so I put one on this side too. Now it's reversible if I get fed up! This is where I got the tape, but I see they now do it in a 6" width: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Self-Adhesive-Black-...emZ360214872974 It might be better than you trying to paint yours.
  10. 3.4L engines with mechanical throttle use DME5.2.2 3.4 engines with eGas use DME7.2 3.6 engines use DME7.8
  11. Spotted by one of the guys on PCGB: The final commercial: Automotive pornography, if you ask me! B)
  12. That looks different to the Galetto 1260 I have seen. Probably just another Chinese knock-off. http://www.talktomycar.co.uk/products/flashing/mj057.htm
  13. It isn't for diagnostics, like PIWIS. It is for reading and writing the fuel map in the DME.
  14. Wow! I think it looks great! Well done, and thanks for sharing. You even have the steering wheel on the proper side! ;)
  15. I'm a bit confused here, as this is the 997-1 forum. I found this on POSES for the 996 C4S, which I assume is what you are looking for:
  16. Whilst I agree that a puff of smoke is quite common on startup, and nothing to worry about, if you are getting plumes of white smoke that doesn't clear, then it could well be the AOS. Sometimes they make a screeching noise like the reed of a woodwind instrument, caused by air passing through a split in the internal plastic pipe. It is a simple job to remove the inlet hose to the throttle body, and look inside for oil residue. It costs nothing to do, and will let you confirm or eliminate whether this is the problem or not.
  17. There is a country coding option in the MMI settings. Maybe that needs changing too.
  18. There are a couple of TSBs which mention reprogramming the DME on 2007 cars. Maybe one of those operations have been carried out.
  19. See the post on page 3 of this thread: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...st&p=120352 I believe the Porsche part number is 000.044.901.21 if you want to try another dealer.
  20. You have PCM2.0, which has CD based maps only, and it has the latest software installed. You can download an operators manual from this site, but I believe you have to be a Contributing Member. ;) ;)
  21. I fitted one of the later Tequipment retrofit kits to my '98 C2. The kit is made by http://www.xanonex.de/ (Porsche didn't even put it in their own box) so you might be able to find an Australian distributor for them. I know some people who have bought them direct from Xanonex, considerably cheaper than from Porsche. It was a very simple install, but as has been said, the wiper speed is not varied, and the existing delay potentiometer becomes redundant. A worthwhile addition IMO, and I'll get round to fitting one on my TT one day.
  22. Yes. all the steering column switch units fit in exactly the same way.
  23. That's exactly what it is - a 'knock off' of the Durametric. I know someone who bought a Chinese copy, and it would only run on an outdated version of the software, and just stopped working a few days later. Go with a genuine Durametric - you will be able to keep the software up to date, and get decent backup.
  24. As I understand it, the 08.2007 European map is part number 997.044.501.50. The latest PET shows a new number of 997.044.502.50. It doesn't give a date though.
