  1. Unclip the mirror glass, disconnect the heater wires, and there are 3 torx screws which hold the cover onto the mirror frame. Once you get these out it lifts off - watch you don't lose the rubber seal strip underneath.
  2. You just need slim arms and short spanners. :D It's pretty straightforward - it just unscrews. Part number 996.606.203.01, UK price is £31.94+VAT.
  3. One of the guys on the PCGB forum has been told that an update for PCM2.0 (Europe) with 2008 map data has just been released. I had told by Porsche Reading that it was due at the end of July, but apparently it was released early. £349+VAT, we are told. As soon as I get the part number or any more info I'll post it.

  5. Some features aren't available in Sim Mode, but it's a useful way of learning where everything is. Give it a try - it won't do any harm.
  6. If you start up the PST2 with the PC-card removed you can run the program in Simulation Mode. Then you can play to your heart's content without risk of messing anything up.
  7. I changed the ATF on mine a couple of months ago and was horrified by the colour - it was as black as your hat. I agree with RFM - try it with fresh fluid, and follow Loren's checklist, before thinking about changing the tranny.

  9. That's correct. The trim used at the top is more square cut. The one marked for M573/662 (aircon and PCM options) is the one with the curved sides used in the lower position.

  12. You can use a PST2/PIWIS to read out the transmission temperature.
  13. Yes - sorry - I was trying to keep it simple. To be precise: Testing conditions: — The transmission must not be in the reduced driving program. — The ATF temperature must be between 30 C and 45 C. An ATC inspection at an insufficient ATF temperature causes over-filling and an inspection at an excessive ATF temperature causes insufficient filling — Selector lever in position "P" and engine idling. — The air-conditioning system and the heater must be switched off. — The vehicle must be standing horizontally.
  14. There isn't an easy way to check the fluid level. You have to get the car up to operating temperature, get it in the air (engine running), remove the filler plug, and fill until it overflows. I don't know where you plan to take it, but PCT in Coventry are very good (on the Autobahn site on the A45).

  16. I didn't realise that the transmission loses drive completely - that doesn't sound good. The CEL wouldn't come on with a transmission fault anyway - only engine faults. Where are you located?
  17. Your tiptronic control module has gone into the Limited Driving Program due to an electrical or electronic fault. You need to get a diagnostic check done by an OPC or specialist to see what fault codes are stored. Edit: BTW, it's safe to continue driving.
  18. The rear wall is part number 996.512.250.00 and they are £49.73+VAT from an OPC. For second hand parts, try Porsch-Apart or Douglas Valley Breakers (Google them for details), but I would get a new spoiler wall if I were you - who knows how long a second hand one would last.
  19. There is a single M5x55mm screw at the top of the pedal housing. Remove it and the pedal assembly comes out in one piece.

  21. The OBC stalk is held on to the side of the main stalk unit with 2 screws - it's a detatchable unit, but not available as a separate part (AFAIK). I guess you must be able to take off the steering column covers without removing the steering wheel from what LowFlyR is saying.
  22. That's extortionate! If the OPC wants to charge for the service, and you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berks), I'd be happy to plug in my PST2 and see if the codes are stored (PM me). Failing that, I'm sure Becker could give you the code if you give them the serial number - I seem to recall they charge about £20.
