  1. Thanks Mike, but I looked in the Front and Rear Control Modules, the PAS Control Module, and the Vehicle Electrical System Module, but couldn't find a coding option in any of them for Comfort operation. Programming the windows for Comfort and One-touch was a piece of cake, but the sun roof is proving to be a challenge. I get the feeling it might not be possible, but I hope I'm wrong.
  2. 2005 UK 997 C2S Coupe. (My nephew's latest toy). Does anyone know if it is possible to have key remote closure of the sun roof? I can't seeem to find a coding option for this in the PIWIS. I've coded the windows on both sides to comfort open and close on the remote when unlocking/locking, but I'm darned if I can find a setting for the roof. It seems strange that it wouldn't be an option, as it is a standard feature on UK 996s.
  3. Take a look here: http://www.nsxjr.com/Audipins.html There is a 32-pin green plug, which might be the one you need.
  4. That number doesn't come up on a price search here, or in a PET lookup. If it is a 32-pin connector, and you don't mind it being grey instead of green, this VW part might be a substitute.
  5. I've ridden in a couple of 987s and 997s recently, and was mightily impressed with the improvement in ride quality over the 986/996. A 997 C2S on 19" wheels soaked up the bumps much better than any 996 I've been in. Until you switch it to Sport - that's a different story.
  6. In the 3.4 cars the Tiptronic transmissions were made by ZF, and in the 3.6 and TTs they were made by Mercedes Benz. Completely different. 722 is the Mercedes type number.
  7. Ian - There's no 987 or 997 Diagnostics on POSES. It's all on PIWIS. Brad - Can you open the Workshop Manuals on the Information section of your PIWIS clone? You could also try Douglas Valley Breakers, but they tend to be more expensive than Porsch-Apart.
  8. Successfully remapped! It's difficult to say from the very short run I did afterwards, but it seems somehow smoother at low revs and tickover. That might be down to resetting the adaption values, so time will tell if it has made any difference. It's snowing heavily right now, so not a good time to experiment. While remapping, we chose the EOBD Tiptronic map option (UK car), but I could have chosen EOBD X50 Tiptronic. Any thoughts on what might happen if we had? (Short and long term). Edit: I just thought I would add this in case it is of use to someone else. After a couple of days driving, albeit at slow speeds, I feel there is a definite improvement. Before the remap, I used to get a slightly annoying fluctuation in revs when at a constant 14-1500rpm. (30mph-ish in 3rd, or about 40mph-ish in 4th). It happened mainly when the engine was cold. The revs would pulse up and down by about 50rpm at a frequency of about 0.25Hz. My thought was it might be at the variocam switching point, but I don't really know. Anyway, the result is that the remap seems to have cured the 'problem'. Maybe when I'm feeling brave enough I'll try the X50 program.
  9. Well my indy has just got the IPAS codes :) , so we'll reprogram it over the weekend. I'll let you know if it seems any different afterwards.
  10. Even early Turbos like mine had DME 7.8, and the mapping update mentioned in the TSB is specific to the TT. I just wanted to find out what the changes were, and if I would benefit from doing the upgrade.
  11. Reading through TSB 6/01 for the 996 Turbo, there was a new DME program map introduced in October 2001. It says that after engine replacement or repair, the DME program should be updated. Mine is a very early Turbo (September 2000) and I have checked - it has the old program. Does anyone know the benefits of the later program?
  12. I had some play in the height adjustment arms and bushes on the sports seats in my C2 which gave a clicking noise, especially when I got in and out of the car. The bushes are nylon, and two of them were very badly worn. You have to buy the bolt and bush together, as they aren't sold separately. The front and rear boltt+bush are different, and there is a radical difference in price. One is cheap, and the other is VERY expensive. I also bought the two short swing arms, as they were very cheap - I didn't want to have to do the job twice. Not a difficult DIY. Items 4 and 10 in the diagram.
  13. This might help: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...st&p=113336
  14. I thought that when you buy the Design Key you swap the internals from your existing key.
  15. It seems like they are available, but I don't know the part numbers: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=90530
  16. That's the same diagnosis a Porsche tech on PCGB 996 forum gave to this problem - ie a loose or dislodged vacuum pipe. I guess it's quite a common problem.
  17. I'm a bit confused by the instructions in the manual for bleeding the system. The instructions in step 2 tell you to slowly tighten the banjo bolt, butt the illustration shows it being turned counter-clockwise. Are the banjo bolts left-hand thread?
  18. Probably the same device as this: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...pic=9658&hl=
  19. You're not wrong, Tom. The switches in the stalk just ground the inputs to the OBC.
  20. I meant Zaino Z-AIO all in one......
  21. +1 for Zaino. I found Z-5 was great on my Ocean Blue C2, but use the All-in-one now. A little goes a long, long, way, and don't be tempted to over-apply. I round off with Grand Finale spray to give it a really slick finish. The other product I would recommend from them is Leather-in-a-Bottle. Makes it feel and smell like a new car. As Alan says, it's like a religion!
  22. I expect the Order Code is missing from the DME vehicle data: For Boxsters and 996’s with the new instrument cluster, if there is no option in the Instrument Cluster Coding for “with On-board Computer” use the following procedure: Do a Control Module Search from the Vehicle Type screen. Go to DME control unit. Go to Vehicle Data. Scroll down to Order Type. Press the F7 key to edit. Enter the 6-digit Order Code – 986310 for 2.7, 986320 for S, 986330 for Anniversary. Press F7 to confirm. Go back to the Vehicle Type screen and do a full Control Module Search. (Essential). Go to Instrument Cluster, go to Coding and recode for “with On-board Computer” and press the F8 key to save.
  23. The 9x7 pedal looks quite different to the 9x6 pedal on the PET. I've got a pedal assembly from my '98 C2 tip which you would be welcome to have for the cost of the postage. The C2 had cable throttle, but you could use the cables on your existing pedal and transfer them to mine. As you have probably found, the pedal comes apart quite easily. Drop me a PM if you would like it.
  24. Welcome indeed! Your advice has been immensly helpful, and it is great to have someone with your comprehensive knowledge on board.
