  1. If it is a 2003 it must be PCM2.0. You can do a system reset by pressing the 1, 4, & 8 buttons at the same time. Not sure it would work if it isn't switched on though............
  2. Me too. Took me a while to track it down, but the rubber bushes in the top mounts were totally shot.
  3. Try these people: Putnoe Radio Services 12 Clifton Ave Hartlepool TS26 9QN 01429 869220 official Becker service agents Maple Audio 4/5 Hayes Place Bear Flat Bath BA2 4QW Tel (01225) 442180 Fax (01225) 469790 Email: info@mapleaudio.co.uk Web: www.mapleaudio.co.uk
  4. For a 9x6, those are the only 3 codes you need, and they are required for programming for the DME and alarm/immobiliser control units. You don't need any security codes to change the cluster, abs/psm, tip, aircon, etc.
  5. The only three you really need are the Learning Code, the Immobiliser Code, and the DME programming code. With those, you can do all the programming you will ever need. I have the IPAS codes for mine, and have programmer new keys, and updated the DME fuel map without any problem. I saw the Autologic kit a couple of years ago when it first came out, and was very impressed, but it is very expensive.
  6. On a RHD car, the alarm siren and tilt sensor are located to the right of the battery (as you look at it). I think Loren is correct, as the alarm horn is to the left of the battery. If your LED is double-flashing, then you have an alarm system fault. A diagnostic check with a Porsche tester should show what's wrong.
  7. I can't really understand the problem. The orange Metra plug connects the line outputs and amplifier switched feed from the stereo to the yellow plug on the car. Pins 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are used for these connections. The other pins are not populated, as they are for the CD changer and phone, and are not used. The black Metra plug is to connect the power connections for the head unit to the black plug on the car. These should be wired as I described. The head unit does have LINE audio outputs, doesn't it? If it only has SPEAKER outputs then it isn't compatible with the car's amplifier. If you are still struggling, and I don't wish to sound condescending here, it would probably be best to have a car audio shop to take a look at it.
  8. You need to connect the LINE outputs from your new head unit to the amplifier in the trunk - not the speaker cables, using the adapter cable like the orange one in my picture above. Pin Number Wire Color Function 5 Blue/White Amplifier Remote 6 Blue Antenna Remote - to "Exhibit A" pin A5 7 Red Accessory 12 Volts - to "Exhibit A" pin A7 8 Black Ground - to "Exhibit A" pin A8 13 Sky Blue Telephone Mute - to "Exhibit A" pin A3 14 Orange/White Illumination ( the wire isnt there ) - to "Exhibit A" pin A6 15 Not Used Not Used 16 Yellow Constant 12 Volts - to "Exhibit A" pin A4 As I said, you will need to connect the blue/white wire on the orange adapter to a switched feed. Most people hook it up to A5 with the antenna switched power, but you may be able to connect it to pin 5 of your new head unit.
  9. I can't seem to make that link work, but if it is like the Crutchfields one which connects to the M490 amplifier, then you need to add a wire to give a signal 12v to the amplifier. This is usually a blue wire in the adapter cable, and you should connect it to the 12v antenna output from the head unit. Edit: Diagram edited for clarity
  10. It might also be the transmission mount.
  11. Do you have Bose? If so, it might be the "sporadic sound failure" problem. There is a TSB on this subject, and an amplifier update CD.
  12. Yes, it is the aerial wire for the remote receiver - it ends up in the left side A pillar. It will probably work with it disconnected, but with much reduced range.
  13. The part number is 000.044.901.22 if it helps your search. Edit: I meant eBay Australia, not UK.
  14. Loren When I'm browsing with my iPad, and I touch the drop-down menus at the top (DIY and Documents, etc), the choices appear, but the browser takes me straight back to the forum home page without me selecting anything. If I am quick enough and try to make a selection, it still goes back to the home page. Any tweaks or tips for this?
  15. They did do a navigation disk for Aus/NZ in 08.2007 iirc, but it now shows as not available. Might be worth trawling fleabay or trying to find someone with a copy. You have/had the Harman sound package, which has similar connections to Bose. I expect the two cables I asked about go to the CD changer.
  16. Probably in the TSB's which are available to Contributing Members. It is worth contributing for those alone!
  17. They somehow don't look like Porsche connectors to me. Porsche loom tape is fabric, and that looks like plastic. The connectors in picture 2 look like they might be GPS connectors, but I don't know what they all are. I think Loren might be right about the amp being removed though. Where do those two orange fibre optic cables go?
  18. Have you checked the alarm control unit (under the left hand seat - passenger side in the UK) is completely dry?
  19. Good result! Must be worth a contribution! <_<
  20. The M490 amp uses line outputs from the Becker head units. It doesn't use RCA input plugs, but a 5-pin plug, the same as a lot of VW units. I'm sure you will find the connection diagrams if you search here, but if not, drop me a PM.
  21. I may have sent you on a wild goose chase, as the diagram I posted is for PCM2. However, I looked at the PET, and it shows the phone antenna for PCM1 in the same place.
  22. There are no relays involved. The control is all done within the instrument cluster and DME electronics. As well as the brake light switch wwest mentions, also check the clutch switch.
  23. The GSM Antenna has a control unit. See the diagram below. 1 - Diversity antenna control module. 2 - Telephone/telematics control module. 3 - Antenna amplifiers left and right. 4 - PCM2. 5 - Windscreen antenna. 6 - External amplifier (option Harman/BOSE). 7 - CD changer. 8 - GPS antenna. 9 - GSM antenna. The FM/AM aerial in the windscreen has an amplifier which is located under the A pillar trim, at the bottom of the screen on the right hand side. The GPS antenna is under the cover, where shown on Loren's diagram
  24. Sorry - when I say the front cowl area I mean the area which contains the battery in the front compartment. On a UK car, it is near the pollen filter, under the plastic panel where the wiper motor and linkage is. Hope this helps locate it.
  25. The AVIC uses the same antenna (the one in the windscreen) for FM and AM so I suspect that the problem is the head unit itself. The diversity antenna for PCM is under the plastic panel in the front cowl area, but presumably you disconnected it when you removed the PCM.
