  1. I fitted a ViseeO Mosto Bluetooth kit to mine. Other options are Tooki and mObridge. The reason I bought the ViseeO is that I found it on eBay, and bought it for £80, which is a bargain as they are over £300 new. It works very well with my iPhone. Although I only use it for phone, it is supposed to work fine for A2D music streaming. I have an iPod in the car for music, with a Nav-TV interface.
  2. On the Harman M490 amp there are inputs for signals from FL, FR, RL & RR from the head unit. Balance and fader controls are in the head unit. There are only 5 wires though, for the positive signal connections. The negatives are a common connection. Drop me a PM with your email address, and I'll send you the wiring diagram.
  3. You can also take an ignition-switched feed from bridge plug 13/1 on the back of the relay panel, which has orange wires going to it. These are Terminal 86S wires, which are live until the key is withdrawn.
  4. The impedances will likely be wrong for the door speakers. The M490 Harman Sound Package uses 2 ohm impedance speakers in the doors, and 4 ohms in the dash and rear sides. I doubt it would do any damage, but the volume level will be lower if you fit 4 ohm speakers to the doors.
  5. The reversing light switch would not affect the cruise. I would start by checking the fuse, then the clutch pedal switch, and the brake light switch. If you know someone with a Porsche Tester, the switches can be checked easily.
  6. Yes it does, and you are correct, it can be viewed in the DME Vehicle Data using a PIWIS. You will find a small difference between the reading in the DME, and what is shown in the instrument cluster. This is because the instrument clusters over-read speed and mileage by up to 10% Another good check is to look at the Airbag module data, which has a separate hours counter. Compare this to the DME hours counter, and it should be similar. Again, there will be a small difference, but if it is a large one it needs investigation. People may think about replacing or hacking the DME and Instrument cluster modules, but don't consider the airbag module.
  7. If you have the PCM2.0 CD-based system, are you sure you have the correct CD inserted? All the disks have the major roads for other regions on them, but only detailed maps for tha region on each disk. (That's how the European disks work, so I assume it is the same for the US).
  8. I think this is what you need to connect the line outputs from the new head unit to the amplifier inputs on the M490 amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701787/Receiver-Wiring-Harness.html?tp=2977
  9. You shouldn't need to enter any codes if you are replacing the navigation drive. I would try getting it repaired. Try Maple Audio in Bath: www.mapleaudio.co.uk If you swap it for a used unit, you might have to update the nav drive software, but this can be done by CD updates. If you are anywhere near me, I would be happy to do a PIWIS check, as a second opinion.
  10. It might be worth checking the tracks are clean in the throttle body. This is from a 996: I assume it is the same on a 997. The plastic cover just unclips.
  11. Alfa Romeo and Opel also use the same nav drive, but I didn't know they were interchangeable. Good info, thanks!
  12. I just bought a MY2007 Cayman S with PCM2.1 Version 4.0. The 08.2009 disk worked without any issues at all. It did say "Updating System" when I inserted it, which took a couple of minutes. That was the European map disk, by the way. I wasn't aware of a 07.2010 disk - is this a US disk?
  13. 6636 is PCM 2.0. http://www.beckeraut...he%20Menu.html this is a CD-based system, PCM 2.1 and PCM 3.0 are DVD-based. The software version of your unit is 3.0, which is the most up to date version. I can't help with map information, I'm afraid, as I am in the UK.
  14. I think you will find that it is Graphite Grey. I think 'badly worn' is the understatement of the year!
  15. I think that if the cable is wired correctly then it should be possible to flash the fuel map without an extra supply to pin 12. Logray, I will PM you with a wiring diagram you can compare to your cable.
  16. That's correct. It is only on 5.2.2 that you have to apply the programming voltage.
  17. The new site looks and feels great. Thanks again Loren!
  18. Blinx - Your car must be Model Year 2005 then. That's what had me fooled. I think the one you need is 664something, but I'm not sure. You have definitely been given the wrong one though. Where are you from, by the way, as 6635 is a European version. Edit: Sorry, 2,1 is silver/grey in the 987/997. My bad.
  19. Device type 6635 is PCM 2.0. System software version 3.0 is the latest version for that system. PCM2.0 is black, whereas PCM2.1 is a silver/grey colour. Edit: I still think that PCM2.0 is correct for a MY2004 Cayenne. (My brother had one). I believe 2.1 was introduced in September 2004 (MY2005).
  20. Are you sure that is a PCM2.1 unit? It looks the same as a PCM2.0 Also, if your car is MY2004, I believe it should have PCM2.0, which is CD based, not DVD. Edit: Maybe not, as I just moticed the connector in the top right hand corner..... Anyway, this might help with three of them: Sorry - I don't have the same for 2.1.
  21. Don't confuse the radio remote with the immobiliser transponder pill. The radio remote will unlock the car, but you will need to transfer the glass immobiliser pill from the donor key head to the old head.
  22. Ignition coil packs for cylinders 1, 2, & 3 share a common ground point. (4, 5, & 6 have a different GP). The wiring diagrams show it as a 6mm bolt/stud at the back of the engine compartment - rear of car. (Probably on the engine somewhere). Might be worth checking that.
  23. Something like a weld stud might be easier to bond to the underbody, and give a lot more area to bond. You could then use a plastic nut, so that it can't be overtightened. http://store.usavediscountmarine.com/Weld_Mount_Stainless_Studs_s/145.htm
  24. For me, it would very much depend on if it was a daily drive, or weekend toy, and how I was going to use it. As Loren says, the GT3 is very much more track focussed, the Turbo gives more scope for tuning (if that's your thing) and explosive performance, and the C4S is a great all-rounder. They all drive very differently, so you need to consider your usage, and try all three. Nice dilemma to have. Enjoy your hunt.
