  1. Can't just pull them off but it is not hard to figure it out when the guy in the picture is a mechanic friend at my dealership who went to Boxster training school where they show the mechanics how to take the car apart. Once I saw how it came out I put it back in. There is no reason for the large vents on 987 other than it has been said it was done this way to resemble a CGT. If I had a 987 I would take it to Dell and fix those vents.
  2. I am curious as to what it would cost to buy parts from Mexico rather than having a US dealer order them from Germany. Plus sometimes in the past you could not order some European parts from a US dealer. Maybe the way around is to buy it from a dealer in Mexico. They say the engine is broken in at the factory. A European manual says break in is 1,000 miles, but 2,000 miles in the US. Same engine so who knows why Porsche does this. 762 was the launch code for the new Boxster. Didn't know you had that in Mexico.
  3. The top on ebay is made by GAHH and we have been talking about it here. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4503 You can find it for less money. I have a 1997 with the 210 radio. I bought a Traffic Pro but have not put it in yet.
  4. When I saw these plugs 2 years ago I took the plastic bag over to the parts department and the number did not work in the parts computer - I guess because of the color code if they only come in primer.
  5. There is a tool to adjust the cables but it will not work with a B&M. Just take your console off and try the trial and error method. If you are lucky you may be able to see wear marks from where the cables were originally.
  6. About 2 years ago Porsche began sending cars over with their plugs. They were put in a plastic bag in the front trunk. I tried the part number 2 years ago and could not find it. Have not looked for them since then. This is Polar Silver.
  7. We were told Porsche parts in Mexico were very expensive. But give it a try for a price quote, for vinyl. Left visor is 986 731 031 23 A12. Right is 986 731 032 23 A12.

  9. Here you go. $9.50. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00-Porsc...1QQcmdZViewItem
  10. Loren has a 996 and they are all made in Germany, so he never knows the Boxster only code 502.:P 502 means your Boxster was made in Finland. 584 is the storage box behind the seats, also another Boxster only code. Something else a 996 owner would not know. :P :P Now you have to send us some visors that do not have the USA/Canada air bag warning stickers. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...c=5742&hl=visor
  11. There are 180 cables at the Porsche parts warehouse in Ontario, California. I did not ask about Atlanta. Either place is where your dealer gets parts. The latest part number is 986 561 717 03. This is the version cable used with the new style transmissions that is 1" longer than your original cables, and it has the same part number for left or right. It will work fine if you want to use your old style transmissions. No clue what is up with your dealer.
  12. The 986 did not make a clicking sound. Have not listened to a 987. Listen to another 987 if the dealer says it is normal. Check out the sticker. C34 is the country code for Mexico. There are other codes for Europe. With your code we can look up the specs.
  13. Sounds like the window regulator but you will not know for sure until the door panel is off.
  14. It also has a sun roof, cruise control, and the factory cd changer in the front trunk...
  15. What is the name address and telephone number of your mechanic?
  16. Well, I finally saw the top in person in the back lot at my local dealer. It is a 2000 base with tip. I measured the glass at 34 1/2" wide by 10 1/2" high. I wanted to get a good picture of the defroster lines but the car was dirty and I was not about to wash it. The material looked the same as OEM.
  17. It is just a standard 1999 C4 that has been modified. It was back inside the shop this Saturday because the car cannot be locked. Hope he wins the lottery so he can buy another engine. His old engine is toast and cannot be used as a core credit.
  18. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...3064&hl=mexican Congrads. Scherb's 986 friend from Mexico came up here for a Boxster tech session and drive last year. Is C34 on your option sticker?
  19. The car is owned by Luis. It has been at Stevens Creek a long time and keeps getting moved around the lot. Last time I saw it at a local event it ran, with open headers. Since then, a rod went through the ca$e.
  20. Does not look like it is out yet. I wanted to do something like that a few years ago but we ended up filming projects. Still waiting for Bently to come out with a manual.
  21. http://home.comcast.net/~kilsen/boxster_gdo.htm http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albur29 http://www.gagme.com/greg/Boxster/hacks/garageswitch.html http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5770 http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2245
  22. A few months ago it was here. A few weeks ago it was there. And it is still here.
  23. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=766 The 996/986 Porsche unit is a clone of the B&M, except it is black and B&M is blue.
