  1. It is on the passenger side. It is in the middle of this picture. It is emission related. When the car is cold it injects air into the exhaust manifold.

  3. You can remove the horseshoe. But Porsche does not sell it as a separate part. Gert use to have some but I think they are long gone. A 2.7 will fit on a 2.5 with an adapter bracket that Porsche sells.
  4. I was at the Toyota dealer to buy a part to fix my horn. There was a display of filters and wrenches on a shelf. So while the guy was finding my part I found the filter for my truck and the wrench that fit it. The wrench was 74 mm with 14 flutes - same as my Boxster. The brand wrench Toyota had was Vector and it is made of metal. Never knew the Toyota and Box used the same wrench, as I always used a strap wrench on the Toyota. When I got home I took my extra aftermarket (made by STP) Toyota filter and tried the 2 wrenches I use for the Box. Both fit. Now I can use the same wrench on the Box and Toyota....
  5. No need to remove it.

  9. I would like to see a picture of a non SE with the reds. When the clears came out for 2003 people went crazy with the retrofits. I thought it would happen again with the reds. But it did not.
  10. A real fashion statement. I went to a tech session at a local body shop yesterday. There was a 1997 Box in the shop with the key in the door. It had a colored crest on the 2 button remote. The 1997 owner did something to get that colored crest.
  11. The local group has done about 60 retrofits over the years. But never on a tip now that I think about it. The only thing different on a tip is that there will be an additional connector behind the air bag for the shift buttons, if you do the retrofit with the stalk. I started using the BMW connector years ago when Porsche jacked up the price on the Porsche connector. I bought a bunch of them from BMW so I do not even know what Porsche is using these days. It does not matter which connector you use. I switched to BMW only because of the price. This is the BMW connector with the VW wires.
  12. Luis is back. His car sure gets around. Went to a local tech session today at a body shop, of all places. Looked at the cars in the shop, and what do I see? A 1999 C4 with a 3.8 997 S engine.
  13. I have in my failing memory bank that the owner can turn on daytime running lights if the car has PCM. I do not remember if they can be turned on with the PIWIS if the car does not have PCM.

  15. Search under cupholderectomy as this has been covered several times. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...cupholderectomy
  16. Um, I have a left hand drive, US model... And it's *definitely* on the drivers side (cuz I pulled it to open the hood yesterday)! :) Thanks! Shash Any pictures of the cable? Like these? Which are of the emergency release cable on different LHD cars.. Or, did you pull on the bowden cable housing connected to the mechanical lever in the door sill?
  17. I replaced one a few years ago and had to play with it before I could release the quick disconnect. I had to unscrew stuff so I could drop the coolant lines down a bit and get my hands on the filter. Then loosen/remove the clamp for the filter and rotate the filter so I could get to the disconnect. Don't remember all the details.
  18. The knob stem on a new style cluster is easy to replace, if you can find a used one. As stated, Porsche does not sell the stem, but does sell the knobs, but you should be able to figure out how to get the broken stem out of your knob. You can see the stems to the left of the knobs in this picture.
  19. The hose for the coolant tank is where you saw the fluid. I would start by putting in the .01 cap if you do not have it. There are 4 oxygen sensors. Which one is the problem one?

  21. Here are the part numbers for the 3 dummies which are covers for a switch hole. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=7899
  22. The fuse mentioned post #1 is C3. Shash must have a RHD. On a LHD the cable is on the passenger side.
  23. The LED one is for a car with air conditioning.
  24. I don't think so. I know for sure it is not on a Boxster.
  25. My picture is a 987 Boxster. I thought it is the same as a 997. I watched a mechanic at the dealer remove the shift knob from a 987. You have to rotate that locking collar as stated above. Then the mechanic stood on the seats. One foot on each seat. Then he reached down and pulled the knob off. I do not know what is going on with the new knobs but they seem to take more effort than a 996/986 to pull off the metal shaft.
