  1. It should have been in one of the plastic bags for the factory kit. Harvey Peck does something different. Porsche does not sell just the clip, but you can buy it from Becker.
  2. Last summer a mechanic I know showed me the same thing. Until then I had never seen this happen before. The shaft for the pulley fractured. Should also have taken a picture of the pump, but here is the pulley. So now you are the second one.
  3. The clip is the white plastic thing. What speaker kit do you have?
  4. Giving out my secret. Here I am. 186 mph and the engine is not even running.
  5. That is news to me. There are some pictures here. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12805 In the link the 986 owner put in a 996 cluster, but had a dealer put in the 996 sender. PET does not show any special parts for a 996 vs. 986 sender. Boxster owners who put in a 996 cluster put in a 996 sender so the oil pressure gauge will work. Since the Boxster only has a single wire for the idiot light, they then run an additional wire from the instrument cluster to the 996 sender for the gauge.
  6. The UK guys have a special deal on this. http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=30968 There was some talk of being able to buy a kit.
  7. Bose did not start until model year 2002, unless someone has played around with the car. You twist the round black plastic things on the top of the speaker/storage box then lift the box up. If you have speakers in the box then there is a connector to disconnect.
  8. Last guy that said the bulb looked good - turned out it was burned out. I take it the connector is connected to the back of the light. 2004 is not known for having a bad microswitch on the front trunk latch. First thing in the morning use the remote to open the front trunk and see if the light is on. If not, then leave the front trunk open and use the remote to open the rear trunk. If the rear trunk light is on but not the front, then swap bulbs. If the rear trunk light does not come on, then open the door. If both trunks lights then come on then your car is still in the transit mode.
  9. The lip that sticks out a bit past the fender started for model year 2000. It is to reduce the chance of sheet water coming off the body of the car from being sucked up into the intake. I suppose you could buy it from Porsche, but then you have to paint it because it comes in primer. Or, from a wrecking yard. But I think your time would be better spent playing darts.
  10. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...0&hl=walker
  11. Easy. There is a 3rd small incandescent bulb for the parking light back there. You switched the 2 large halogen bulbs for the high and low beams. Pull the parking light bulb holder straight out. Then pull the bulb straight out of the holder. Standard automotive bulb that you can find at your local car parts store.
  12. I think the fuse on the control unit is just for the comfort features, such as interior lights and electric windows.
  13. Update. Guy in Canada had a mould made using an undamaged oem stem. So now you can buy replacement stems. Top is the oem. Bottom is the replacement.
  14. When the 987 came out the dealership had a tech session. The headlights were out of the car. I searched the right side of the car and could not find the cable - thought Porsche did away with it. When the Cayman came out there was another tech session. Headlights out of the car. This time I searched the left side and found it.
  15. Remove the service cover and check the belt that runs the alternator, power steering, and water pump.
  16. It does. My hand is on it. Headlight removed for the picture. But it is on the left side. On this car it did not have a loop on the end of the cable. Take out the left headlight so you will know where it is. I have been told by 2 mechanics that the jumper in the fuse box will work even with the battery removed.
  17. The senders must interchange. 986 owners who put in a 996 instrument cluster put in a 996 sender in the 986 engine. The 986 sender has a single wire for the idiot light. The 996 sender has 2 wires, for the idiot light and the gauge. That is why the 3.4 conversion only has 1 wire hooked up.
  18. Like this? Funny thing is, it is a US car, and a new car when I took the picture years ago. I noticed the warning was in French and English. Somehow a Canadian visor was put on a US car.
  19. You have owned the car for almost 2 years and have yet to remove the windstop?
  20. None that I know of. I think, if you were able to you, could pull the remote code out of the donor vehicle and then put that code into your vehicle. You need a PIWIS/PST2 to do this. Kind of hard to do this with all the worthless used remotes you see in ebay.
  21. You cannot program a remote, new or used, to the car unless you have the paper tag that came with the remote. That tag has a 24 digit code on it. You program the control unit under the seat for the remote, not the remote for the control unit. Without the paper tag or code you are out of luck. This is why I tell people to avoid ebay/used remotes.
  22. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...63&hl=Peter
  23. A double beep means the car thinks there is a fault in the alarm system.
  24. The cap with the tether and hanging hook started in 2001. With that said, there was a gas cap recall several years ago. The replacement cap was the tethered style and some owners asked the dealer not to pull the tether off. If your 1999 has a tether then that is because the cap was replaced during the recall. The first pic is a 2001. The second picture is my 1997 Boxster. Prior to 2001 there were slots on the cap that you used to hand the cap on the flap. My 1997 was not subject to the recall so I have the original cap.
  25. That is a safe assumption. If both fans come on to cool the condensors after the fuse replacement when a/c is selected, then they should also come on to cool the engine radiators when the engine is hot and the a/c is off..
