  1. I would like to see a bunch of pictures of the PCM2 kit. Also, are there any fiber optic cables in the kit. On the parts list is a module that connects to the antenna. Do you have something that plugs into the antenna wire. Jeff
  2. Check out this link. I have the Traffic Pro instructions and there is no mention of a wire swap if you have the HiFi option - but there is a good wiring diagram and maybe that will help solve the problem. You may want to contact jonhale as his instructions imply you may end up with 2 wires in slot 5. If you read German there was info on this same subject back in June in the German board. http://forum.boxa.net/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=traffic+pro
  3. You just posted your message on the Becker board so it will take a while for Horst to respond. I have seen the same complaint on the UK and German Boxster boards but do not know if you have the same problem. With the HiFi option you have to swap a wire. The wire in the C yellow connector slot #6 goes to the A black connector slot #5. Apparently this is the trigger wire to the amp and you does not get sound until you swap the wire. This is a guess but try it and let us know if it works. Jeff
  4. The oval trim piece in black is 996 552 469 01 A03 - Porsche calls it a rose. It is held in place with 2 small metal clips on each side of the hazard switch. You can see the clips in Sandy's set of 4 pictures - the first picture in the set. I cannot tell if your 996 cap has the clips as your picture has the hazard button in the way. Order the clips if you do not have them.
  5. One of our local Boxster guys purchased a used top. He had a small water leak near the driver. The local dealer would not fix it under warranty as the top did not come with the car. He had to pay. Jeff
  6. You are missing the oval trim piece and that is why there is a gap. A Boxster does not have this part. It is missing in your 996 picture. First pic from Sandy. Top and to the right is the oval trim in the pic is the oval trim piece you are missing. Second picture I took of Loren's car.
  7. 996 instrument cluster surround does not work with a Boxster cap. Has nothing to do with the year. The switch is the same. In my picture the top part is the cap and the bottom part is the surround. If you removed the 2 gauges from the turbo cluster then why are you messing with a 996 surround. Going to put them back? Hard for me to help as you never say this is what I want to do - how do I do it. I have to guess.

  9. Not really. Go to a dealer and get the 2003 tequipment catalog for the 996 or the Boxster. They both say it is not compatible. Same info on the Becker board.
  10. Traffic Pro is not compatible with the 2003 MOST bus system. Jeff
  11. It is not that easy - but someone may do it on an e-gas car sooner or later with enough time to complete the project. Peter Smith tried. The cruise control works via the DME. Peter hooked up a cruise control stalk directly to the DME while the car was on the lift and running as a test. He used an e-gas Boxster as our DME is easy to get to since it is in the rear trunk. He was getting faults and thought it has to do with the instrument cluster. Then he ran out of time to figure out what was wrong. If he ever has the time to figure it out then you will still need to run wires from the DME to the steering column to hook up the cruise control stalk. Jeff
  12. The plugs are from VW Audi. My local dealer has their parts as well as Porsche. Since I had the VW number and Porsche plastic is sometimes expensive - I ordered the VW part. I have been known to go down the street to BMW when Porsche jacks up the price on electrical connectors Porsche sells with a BMW logo and BMW part number stamped on them. A fraction of the price at BMW. Plus the coffee is better at BMW.
  13. From the top, right on the cam cover.
  14. With a single switch you can only cycle in one direction and the speed gong (no one uses the speed thing) will not work. You can get the 4 stalk assembly for $150 if you shop around. The wires and connector about $15. Takes 5 minutes to remove the steering wheel and air bag. Takes about 1 hour to do the entire retrofit with the stalk. Buy your parts and come to San Jose and I will put them in for you.
  15. The spade is 999 650 103 12. You need to order 5 per switch. The black connector is 8N0 971 636 - a VW part.
  16. I can tell you have a 1999 due to the shape of the dummies. In 2000 they were shaped like real switches.
  17. Are you looking for something like this?
  18. You got cheated if you cannot see the outside temp display below the digital speedometer display. Dealers were turning on the trip computer 7 years ago for the Boxster when the customer picked up the car. When I do a trip computer retrofit I want it turned on before we do the work. That way I know if everything is hooked up properly before we put all the parts back together. But, you can do the retrofit and then have it turned on later. What is the problem with having it turned on now? You will at least see the outside temp display. Then you can do the retrofit later if you want to see the other displays.
  19. I am beginning to see the fiber optic light. Part of the puzzle we could not figure out yesterday is why there were 4 fiber optic cables in the bag and not enough places to plug them into. Raman pulled his radio head and it already had 2 fiber optic cables going to it and no place to add more cables - same thing for the amp. I also saw room for only 2 cables from the changer. Then Loren sent a fiber optic cable wiring diagram which solved part of the mystery. There is a 'junction box' for the cables which explains why we came up short on where to plug them into . All of these cables meet in the junction box. Raman is now looking for the junction box. Then the parts list for the cables has 3 additional parts listed after the fiber optic cables themselves, for a cable holder. I did not know if you had to buy the cable holder parts as a separate item or if it was included in the fiber optic kit. I found this part in the bag and it sure looks like a cable holder.
  20. Wiring diagram says 'oil pressure switch.' Green connector, slot 13.
  21. This is the amp adapter for 2003/4.
  22. Here is Raman's fiber optic cables for a Boxster with the HiFi option. Anyone have instructions? :cursing:
  23. Neither Porsche or VDO sells parts for the cluster except light bulbs and the 2 knobs you twist to change settings. You might contact Dale and see if he want to get rid of the parts he is not using for his turboster instrument cluster experiment. Or, just find a plastic supply place with thin clear plastic. If you were in California I would suggest TAP Plastics and they would even cut a new lense to the exact same size if they have the old piece to use as a pattern. You might also try a speedometer shop. Jeff
  24. I have seen that console before. How come you did not get the matt finish switch to match all the other switches. Same part number except the A02 for gloss is A05 for matt. Jeff
