  1. Sounds like time for hot melt or silicon glue.
  2. The V is mostly up when I looked with the top almost all the way down. Hard to tell as I had to raise the top a bit to get the flash light in there. I have become lost in this thread. But you know you can bolt the V lever on the transmission 2 ways. One way will be correct and the other way will be 180 degrees off. They should have keyed the lever so it can only go on one way.
  3. Don't know anything about the kit, but I have seen it on US ebay a few times. Porsche does not sell the seat back as an assembled unit. There are a lot of individual parts. Too bad you cannot try the sport seats because you may not fit in them for the reason previously stated.
  4. But can you do it with one hand and blindfolded?
  5. You can buy individual parts for the seat but I hate to think what it will cost. There is a company that sells a sport seat conversion kit. http://www.nrauto.com/product_body.asp?id=...=Porsche&type=0
  6. I just remove the coat hook from my standard seat to see what was behind there. Black plastic with a hole for the phillips screw. Have no idea how you would put that in with a screw from the back unless you took the seat apart. Is the stud that sticks out the back threaded?
  7. That gearbox is already famous. I will remove the yellow line before it is sent to you unless you want it there for when you bleed the clutch. ;) The engine and transmission went very cheap - I'm suprised the seller did not have a reserve. Like to know how much it will cost to ship. If it was not so big you could come over here and bring it back in your suitcase.
  8. We told you it was simple. How do we know if you really did it? Need to see a picture of your new dash trim plate.
  9. I have a $20 Casio which I take off when we work on cars to protect the plastic. I will tell Santiago in the picture you like his watch.
  10. http://forum.boxa.net/index.php?showtopic=5367 Funny, but I saw the C2 engine and transmission on ebay 10 days. One of the guys on the UK Boxster board saw a 3.2 Boxster engine on ebay and wanted to know if he could put it in is 2.5 Boxster. So I told him to check out US ebay for a 3.4 transplant. I was going to tell you about the transmission but I though you had taken care of your transmission problem long ago. I hope you know it is a LHD transmission and you car will run backwards unless you shift with your right hand. :o For what it is worth, I have seen the seller on ebay before with other 996 parts. Looks like he is parting out a 2001. I am bidding on the 4 stalk steering column switch assembly he has.
  11. I have put in a few dozen of these things over the years and you all have me confused. Never needed to fine tune it. Never needed to readjust it. We put it in correctly and that is the end of the story. Then you like it or you don't. Then you have problems finding gears or you do not - it depends on you and the way you shift. Put one in on a 6 speed Boxster and the owner could not find reverse. I went in his car and reverse it. Then he was able to find reverse. The blue cable connector and shift cable housing is for reverse. Black is for the forward gears. Going from 2nd to 3rd will feel different than the OEM shift. It is not only a shorter throw but you have to be right on the money when you shift.
  12. The plunger cap uses a black O ring.
  13. 2 of our local Boxster owners replaced their 4 spoke steering wheels with 3 spoke tip wheels. They have manual transmissions but the found good deals on ebay and the wheels were for a tip. We did the trip computer/OBC retrofit and used the shift buttons for the trip computer. The problem with trying to use the buttons to control radio functions is that the Becker radio is not set up to do this. There is nothing on the radio for a remote function. Jeff
  14. This is the place. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=257 These guys rebuild their own engines. Jeff
  15. I hear cussing from New York. Day 3...........
  16. The brake bleed nipple is 11mm and the Boxster clutch slaves I have bled were 9mm. The triple square transmission drain plug bit is used on the 5 speed Boxster. The fill plug on the 5 speed is a 17mm allen. Let me know the size of the allen drain and fill plugs on your car. Are you using the black rubber gasket on the black cap of the Motive? There should have been one in the box. I have the Motive and have used several of them. Maybe yours will not hold pressure for some reason. Loren can tell you more than me about the early 996 plugs. Apparently there was a switch from 2 side electrodes to 4 in 1999. When we replaced the plugs on Chad's 1999 996 at 30k he had 4 electrodes, but we half expected them to be 2. The plugs are a pain on a 996 due to the exhaust. They are not that hard to do on a Boxster. I have a locking extension if I think the socket is doing to stay on the plug but so far that has not happened. Some shops use a magnetic spark plug socket. There is no way to take a picture of the slave on a 996 so here it is out of the car. Good luck getting to it. The way I do it is to remove the Motive. Crack open the bleed and then close it with your fingers. Put the tube on and then hook up the Motve and pump it. Open the bleed with your fingers. When enough fluid has come out close it with your fingers. Remove the tube and tighten the bleed with your wrench. Do not tighten too much or you will strip it.
  17. Check your PM as I just got off the phone with Raman and he is expecting your telephone call. Since this is a new house he will not have a computer connnection for about 2 weeks.
  18. I guess I will include the video of the lighter removal in the next set of DIYer DVDs. ;) I have the removal on a DVD for the video of trim work we shot that day on a C4S but my only DVD player is in my notebook and my Compaq computer was sent in for repairs yesterday. So I cannot look at the DVD to see how it was done. About all I remember was I gave up quickly, and when we filmed Raman removing it it came out just the opposite you would think. Raman lives about 5 minutes away and I know he is home today because he is moving into a new house. If you want his telephone number send me a PM.
  19. Several years ago I started to use a wood chisel and a hammer, and the plastic tabs just pop out in about a minute for both sides. The Porsche instructions that came out a few months ago say to use a chisel.
  20. You can put the set screw in either bushing. I put it in the front one that faces the front of the car. After you have adjusted the set screw and tightened the jam nut it would not hurt to put a drop of loctite on the threads. Hold the shift tower up so that the set screw faces the sky and put a drop on the threads and it will wick inside. I have done this on the last few installs. Or you can use a drop of super glue if you do not have loctite.
  21. Once the car leaves the showroom it takes a price beating. With the dot com bust there is a glut of Porsches on the market. When I started out 5 years ago you had to wait almost a year to get a car and delaers were trying to get $10k over list on the Boxster. Not like that any more.
  22. Try a bigger hammer. If that does not work then an even bigger hammer. I should post the phone numbers for Kirby and Raman.
  23. Converting the fog light sockets into additional brake lights must be and Australia thing. Paul from Australia did the same thing to his Boxster. The brake lights were hard to see because the tails lights are painted. So what were the fogs lights light up with the brake lights.
  24. They have to have the car to read the info from the car's computer. They can't do anything with the VIN. Tell your friend to buy Kirby's car. I do not think it is possible to get in range 2 with a tip unless there is a mechanical failure. He really does want a GT3 if he can get his price for his C2. I see you wanted to know about a minus 1 in range 1. That was the first time I have ever seen that and Peter has never seen it. I asked the owner a bunch of questions when I saw it. He was racing his car, spun 180 degrees, and the car went backwards. I though his motor ran backwards. But Peter said this is not possible. Then Peter though maybe the counter looks like that when it runs out of digits. There is no absolute answer, outside of Germany.
