  1. I forgot to add. You can have the OBC turned on before you do the retrofit as this is just the addition of normal copper wires from the stalk to the instrument cluster. We have the OBC turned on first all the time before we do the retrofit - that way I know it works after the retrofit is done.
  2. Strange. My only experience is with the retrofit kits. The low xenon beam moves up even without the suspension sensors if the control unit is installed. With the factory installed lits there is a sensor on the left front and left rear suspension. There is an electrical connector to the sensor. Check to see if the rear sensor is hooked up. I can't find a good picture of the rear sensor. This is the front but the rear looks just like it.
  3. I do not think you can code the changer or pcm until after they have been installed. When we did Raman's CDC-4 we put it in then Peter did something with the PST2 so the MOST system or whatever it is called would recognize the changer.
  4. I am confused. Here is the bulb holder for the driver's side. There is an electrical connector in the back of the holder. This is the clear lights I put in on my 1997. There are bulbs in all the sockets because this is the driver side.
  5. A hint on the fuse box. This is a 2001.
  6. What country are you in. Is this a LHD or RHD. Are you talking about the brake or fog light. There is no fog light on the passenger side of a LHD car. Brake and fog light bulbs are different. There is no fog light on the the passenger side of a RHD car. Confusing unless you are in Europe. Need more info. I think you did something for nothing....
  7. 1. Yes. 2. No. It is Pentosin CHF 11S, in the green can. It is synthetic and I do not know of a substitute. It is about $25 or so dollars a liter. Unless you have a leak you just need 1 or 2 oz, but you have to buy the liter can which will last the life of your car. You can find it for less on the internet but then you have to pay for shipping. At our local work on cars days someone usually brings their used can for the cars that need a sip. I buy it from a local import parts place that sells BMW stuff since it is also used by BMW.
  8. 996 362 020 02 is also listed for the 987. So there is hope for the new Boxster Both the 997/987 have listed a 'boot' as 996 361 521 00. This is the same part number for the cover for the spare on a 996/986. 987 also has listed a 'belt' 996 361 411 00. Must be the strap to hold it in place. Same part number is listed for a C4S with ceramic brakes. For some reason I do not see it listed for the 997. Let us know when you get the rest of the parts. Same thing should apply to the new Boxster.
  9. There has been info and pictures here on how to do it. It is a large filter and Porsche says 60,000 miles so you might wait a while. Porsche eliminated this filter in 2002.
  10. I might be able to help - if I close my eyes.
  11. 2003 is no different than a 2004. Peter at my dealer has turned on a 2004. He is the one who figured out how to turn on a 2003. 2003 was different than the prior years because the PST2 was searching for something, and that something was missing. What was missing for some strange reason was the model number for the car. Once the model number was entered then you could change the coding of the instrument cluster to activate the OBC. The first picture is the first 2003 my dealer got, and the computer is being turned on. The second is another 2003 with the model number being entered. 986310 is the model number for the base Boxster, and that is what was missing. I did the OBC retrofit on both cars. The owners bought the stalk unit, wires, and connector. Nothing else.
  12. The trip computer is in every instrument cluster. Ask your dealer for the part number for the 'computer' they want you to buy. All I can think of is they want you to buy the dot matrix instrument cluster that is used when you have the OBC as a factory option.
  13. Nope, but you are warm. So to speak.
  14. That is a good find if you want just the bit you need rather than a set. I have Lisle tools made in the US and they are good. We use to be able to do this with OSH in California, but since Sears bought them out a few years ago....
  15. Make sure they are also sending you the 2 clips that hold the switch in place. 999 507 534 02. Less than a dollar for the pair.
  16. Pull out the 2 oval covers for the interior motion detector and behind them you will see 2 torx screws, remove the screws. Then pull the top latch housing away and disconnect the electrical connector. The switch is held in place with 2 round clips. Pry the clips off and then the switch comes off. You cannot reuse the clips so buy them when you buy the switch. Or, the no cost way is to glue a shim to the button that gets pressed when the top is latched and see if that cures the issue.
  17. Another winner. Running out of trivia. What is different in this 987 fuse box compared to 2001-2004?
  18. I'm pretty sure we can do that as well in the US with the 2002-2004 dot matrix cluster that comes with the OBC option. But not on a 2001 as it did not have a dot matrix cluster.
  19. The only way I know on your year is to buy a metric/Canadian instrument cluster. We have tried to change the OBC displays from metric to US and from US to metric with a PST2 on 2 cars with no luck. What is interesting is a UK cluster, a hybrid. The analog speed gauge is in miles, but their OBC displays are metric.
  20. PTEC got it. This is the 987 fuse box cover. What is missing?
  21. You can try those plastic low profile rhino ramps. There are now 2 types according to weight ratings. Good if you have a sloped driveway since the engine will be level. 99.% of the time we just use a jack on one side since it is so easy to change the oil and most of the times we are on flat ground. Then lower the jack while the oil drains into the pan.
  22. Those wedges are for the height adjustment for the clamshell.
  23. There are 2 wires with a small connector on the end that plugs into the microwsitch for the lock. The 2 wires and switch are for the alarm. When you lift up on the console to remove it you are supposed to slide your hand under the console when the console is up a few inches and pull the connector out of the switch. We do this by feel because the wires are so short you cannot lift the console up high enough to see what you are doing. If you just lift up on the console without disconnecting the 2 wires then: (1) you get lucky and the connector pops out, or (2) you can break something if the connector does not let go. If has been a few years since I played around with the switch when (2) happened, because we forgot to disconnect the connector. Some plastic part broke and we super glued it back together. Would need to see a picture of what your situation is.

  25. Porsche has always been slow with tequipment parts. The 986 bras sold by Porsche were made by Colgan. The difference was if you bought it from Porsche it had the Porsche crest on it and cost more. http://www.colgancustom.com/index.shtml I do not see a 987 on their site. No clue if they will be the supplier for the 987. You might give them a call.
