  1. If you mean the amber headlights it cannot be done. The plastic in that part of the hedlight is solid amber. It is not a coating or something you can remove.
  2. Very good. When I first saw the TSB I was not sure where to measure the 130 mm from since I have never opened up the foam sleeve to see what was in there. I think there will be a few people cutting the antenna wire since this has been a common complaint in the 6 years I have been Boxstering. And it only took Porsche only how many years to figure out this easy fix.... The only thing I can add is that on the Boxster our visor is held in place with Torx screws.
  3. I contacted the ebay seller and confirmed it is the GAHH top. He said the heating element on the side is orange and the lines going accross are black, but this is not consistent as there may be different suppliers of the glass. I see on the Cabrioworld site they have 2 different materials, as does GAHH.
  4. This is a common upgrade because the 220 has aux-in unlike the 210. Otherwise the performance of both radios are the same. I think the harness is the same. The mounting housing for the 210 is removed because it is not needed with the 220. You also have to do something with the alarm contact for the radio.
  5. In North America we use 315 MHz. If you look on the FCC sticker on your remote it has this number.
  6. If it is because the soleniod is bad then you can try to unlock the levers with a screwdriver so you can get in the trunks. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2751&st=0
  7. Thanks, I though I saw orange lines on the top in the picture from Premier just like BAS. Trivial, or you can stick to the plastic window. Put your top in the service position and take a picture. The GAHH top is already on ebay with a buy it now price of $695. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...mMakeTrack=true If you look at the pictures of the speed yellow car on ebay they are the same as the ones on GAHH's site. A mechanic I know does all the 986/996 top work, and he said it takes him about 3 1/2 hours. But he has done at least 20 Boxster tops. I told him I was going to kidnap him for our local work on cars days so I can film him doing a top install. He says it is easy, but I bet the first one did not take just 3 1/2 hours. This is the oem plastic window he put on a 1999 that I watched for a while.
  8. 232 17" tires 502 made in Finland 584 storage box behind seats 618 is telephone prep No clue on 616 - recheck the number
  9. I do not have a picture of the soleniod because I have never replaced it and it is hidden in the door sill. The solenoid is connected to the round white plastic thing with the line to it. That round thing moves foward and back to lock and unlock the levers. The soenoid makes it move, but maybe it can also be called a motor.
  10. I have never seen Porsche sell just the horseshoe. Gert use to have them but I think they are gone.
  11. Becker sells it. It is the one on the left.
  12. When I looked at the pictures of the top put on by Priemer I thought I saw orange defogger stripes, like the BAS top. It was not a good picture so I can't say for sure. CA Boxster can confirm because he just had Priemer put the top on. I would like to see this top in the service position and to see if there is anything to hold it up. In the meantime, Wilfey on a UK Boxster board boxa.net also just had the BAS top put on at the factory. There is a group buy. I do not think the link will work unless you are registered on boxa.net. http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=14592&st=0 Here are his pictures of a 1999.
  13. I do not think so. The duct to the vent changed in 2002 for the 996 and in 2003 for the 986. You have a 2001. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...312entry16312
  14. I watched the mechanic at my local dealer for a while as he replaced the top on a 1999. I asked if the type of liner that started in 2000 with the S could be retrofitted and he said yes, and showed me the additional part that would be needed. It looked like something that would attach to the frame. We were talking about the oem liner. I have not seen the GAHH liner. This company also has a liner and I have not seen this one either. http://www.mgracing.an/inner_covers.htm
  15. Just remove four 8 mm nuts and the light is out.
  16. Wondered how long it would take Priemer to make a showing. So what top is being installed? For 0586slb, I did take a picture of a 987. If I had been thinking it would have been a 2003/04 986. The glass window cars all look the same to me. [Edit: I measured the window on a 2004 986 and 2005 987 today. They are the same size. 34 1/2" wide and 11" high.] Good job 98Boxster98 getting the link to the GAHH pics. Here are the 3 tops, or is it really just 2? First is from the GAHH site. Second is the one put on by Priemer. Third is BAS. The top put on by Priemer looks like the GAHH top to me.
  17. 1997-2000 has a 2 button remote. One button for the door locks/alarm and the other for the rear trunk. No clue on what button you are pressing or how the trunk button can open the doors. Same year also has mechanical levers in the door sill that have cables running to both trunks. There is also a solenoid that locks the levers down when the alarm is armed, unlocked when the car is not armed. It is a solenoid not a motor. Both of you should read the owners manual or take it to a shop to be fixed.
  18. Ms. Cap, I would like to introduce you to Mr. Coat hanger who is now going to pull you out of the wheel.
  19. There is a solenoid that pulls a cable to open the rear trunk when you push the button on the remote. Is that what you are taking about.
  20. Go to the plumbing department....
  21. I think it is the left side A pillar as the antenna runs from the control unit under the drivers seat up the A pillar. I do not know anyone who has done this TSB, which is a suprise because so many owners complain about the range of the remote. Take lots of pictures. Remove the left visor then the trim just pulls away. Pic is a Boxster.
  22. I took another picture of a picture of the top put on by Premier, against the oem glass top. Sorry, a really bad pic. Since Premier would not tell CA Boxster where they get the top from, and my bet it is from GAHH, I will see if I can pull some strings and find out who makes the top. In the meantime, if 98Boxster98 gets some pictures from GAHH we should be able to tell if it is their top put on by Priemer.
  23. Tequipment corkscrew.
  24. The service guy at Stevens Creek said the customer paid $3,000 for the top and installation, but do not quote me on that. Because when I asked him what year Boxster was in the 3 pictures he said 1998. The car in the pictures was a Boxster S, so it could not have been a 1998. The car has to be a 2000-2002. I think 98Boxster98 got it. There are 2 glass window tops listed on the GAHH site, depending on the material. They were not there when I looked at the site last year. Wish GAHH had pictures so I could verify if it is the same top put on by Premier. Sure looks like there are 2 companies making a glass window top. This is the second of the 3 pictures. Not much to see in this pic. I do not know the owner. I would like to see this version in the service position.
