Easiest way is to use a jumper wire from a wire on the black radio connector to a wire on the yellow connector. The the amp will turn on and you will get sound. When Pat did his traffc pro he used scotch-locks/wire taps, or whatever they are called.
  2. I have that ebay control unit. It is for a 1998-2000 Boxster or 1998-2000 996, with the 535 option. Might be willing to trade it for something. Showed it to the mechanics at the local dealer and learned something. Hope I understood what I was told. There is an immobilizer code already burned in the used unit which cannot be changed. That code matches the code in the DME of the donor car. If you put the used unit in your car your car will not start because the code from the used unit does not match the code in your DME. Although you cannot change the code in a used control unit, you can change the code in a DME with the PST2/PIWIS. With the VIN from the donor car Atlanta will provide the immobilizer code for the used control unit. You then change the code in your DME to match the code in the used unit. I have the VIN for the donor car. We opened the unit up and it looked ok. This unit sits under the driver's seat in a recessed area. The common problem is that if water get in this area it enters the control unit and fries the electronics.
  3. If you mean shift boot and you have the standard "mushroom" shift I do not know of a part number since it does not exist as a separate part.
  4. I think they are the same. But a 996 cab with Bose has a different passenger side mat.
  5. The design of the sport exhaust changed for model years 2003 and 2004 due to the rear bumper extensions used on those years. The 2003/4 sport exhaust will fit your 2000. There is however a problem if someone wanted to do the reverse, and use the pre 2003 exhaust on a 2003/4.

  7. VB997 on Rennlist put the B&M in his 997. The shift tower on a 997 is the same as a 987 so I cannot think of any reason it would not work on a 987. This is the same B&M we use on the 996/986.   9. Loren got his message in before me, and he raises a point since the car may have been repaired. Here is the plug where the sensor would be, on Fong's car.
  10. The early 1997 Boxsters did not have the sensor unless you had the OBC option. We have 2 local 1997 owners who do not have the sensor. Fong and his car was made November 1996, and Gary with a December 1996. I retrofitted the sensor on Gary's car years ago. My January 1997 which does not have factory OBC has the sensor. So I always thought it became standard in the US for cars made in or after January 1997 even if it did not have the OBC option. UK cars are different as even newer cars do not have the sensor unless the car has A/C. I had Peter turn on Gary's OBC before we retrofitted the sensor. All you see is --- because there is no sensor. You also need to check the white 21 pin connector near the brake booster to see if there are wires to the cluster. If there are then you buy the sensor and connectors and all the bits and wire. The car is not prewired for the sensor. Bumper cover has to come off. Replaced Gary's bad horn and dented bumper cover at the same time. When was this 1997 made and who owns it?

  12. Went over today to take more pictures because I knew you all could not wait for September when Van turns the page on his calendar. So I turned the page for him. Also to take pictures of the CGT with the powertrain out.
  13. Passenger ejector switch. The switches I usually see just like that, but not in that location, are usually for radar/laser stuff. That is not a Porsche switch. So what extra do you or did you have wired in the car. Can you even get to that switch with the door closed?
  14. That is the left window guide. There is a newer part number that ends in 02.
  15. Both devices combined are a fraction of an amp so there is no issue tapping into the cell phone connector. Wait until you get the monitor and show us a picture so you can figure out how to hard wire it.
  16. Yes, but it is really not an issue because your 2 devices with not draw anything near 7.5 amps and the V1 is protected by an inline fuse that is far less than 7.5 amps. For example, on my year Boxster the headlight high beam has a 7.5 amp fuse. A headlight draws far more current than your 2 devices combined. I bet your monitor will have it's own inline fuse. I can't imagine the draw of that device being more than an amp. So lets say it comes with a 1 amp inline fuse. You want to use that fuse because the 7.5 amp fuse for the cell phone connector will not protect the device but the smaller inline fuse will. And I am no electrician....

  18. I report the 996 C$ is still there. So, guess how much it cost to replace the clutch on a CGT? And this CGT has a sponsor sticker. If you have to ask....

  20. That's it. According to the matching VINs on the window sticker and windshield it is a 2005, but the window sticker says it is a 2006. Look at the 5 in front of the U in the VIN. The sticker on the door has the same 2005 VIN and has it has a build date of June. The salesperson I know said there was a 2006 out back so I looked for it. Then he went out back with me to check for himself. It has been reported so I expect the rear car will get a replacement Monroney sticker. The front car was stickered as a 2005 and had a 2005 VIN, so it was ok. Pics of the VIN through the windshield and the door sticker. Car was made in June so it is one of the last 2005s.
  21. A little hint.
  22. Your year has bulbs. Each LCD display has an illumination bulb. When that bulb goes out you cannot see the display. All I can think of is that the bulb just happened to go out when you were working on the radio. You might give the cluster a wack before you pull it to see if it is really the bulb.
