  1. I know it is Andreas. You found our message board. What can you tell us about the modified factory sport exhaust? Why did you move the bypass pipes so that they are up against the muffler? Jeff
  2. Hi Andreas. Is this the GT3 sport exhaust? Jeff
  3. The aux input is gone as of 2003. You have to use an FM modulator.
  4. You should be able to find the proper sized wrench at any auto parts place or even WalMart for about $4. Most are made of plastic. Ok for the occasional use or if the filter housing was not cranked on too tight. I have seen them break or round off when trying to remove the housing and then I have to get in there with my metal one. If you are going to be doing a lot of filter changes I suggest a metal one.
  5. You can order the Mann version from any Porsche dealer. I did 3 years ago. Paid $6.56. Part number is 000 721 920 40. There is one on ebay with a current price of $15.50. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...MEBWA%3AIT&rd=1 I then bought Hazet 2169 13 months ago which I like better for $17.49 from Samstang Sales and they have one on ebay. Some VW/Audi/Mercedes filter housings are the same as ours so it is seldom you see one listed for a Boxster. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...MEBWA%3AIT&rd=1
  6. You mean doors lock? I have a 1997 US Boxster and there was no such feature until model year 1998. From 1998 up the choices are: 1- doors lock when the ignition is switched on. 2- doors lock when the car goes faster than 5 mph. 3- same as 1 but if the door is opened while the engine is running, it relocks at faster than 5 mph. 4- doors do not lock unless you use the switch - only way to lock on a 1997 Boxster. It is programed with the PST2.
  7. I have already gone through this with everyone at my local dealer who will listen to me. They sell the changer for a retrofit install and have no instructions. Still cannot get my hands on the TSBs to see if they are any help. That is why I want to have a car with the changer already installed to compare when we put in Raman's changer. We will just copy what we see. Then film it. No way could it take 8 hours to hook up a few fiber optic cables and an electrical cable unless you are doing it by trial and error for the first time.
  8. That was the first one I bought, made by Mann. Then I bought one made by Hazet and I can use a 3/8" extension in the end. Jean had the rear seal replaced 6 weeks ago, just before his warranty expired. This is his 4th seal. When he was under the car trying to get the filter off he saw oil leaking again.
  9. You can buy the cable. I have never replaced one. I glancd at the shop manual but could not find it - but it must be hidden there somewhere.
  10. Stick a long 5mm allen wrench in there. That is how it is done on the old style lights and I think it is the same for yours.
  11. I already offered 1/2. Might be a lot of transmission problems with that turbo. That shift knob also bothers me. Same that we get on a Boxster S. I took out a fancy carbon one out of Josh's GT2 and I think put in a Box S standard 6 speed shift, I think. Is that the correct shift knob for a base turbo? Because it is the same as a Boxster S or a 996. .
  12. They did dust the car for fingerprints Kirby to see if someone swaped parts from that car. Hope your prints are not on file. I bet you want that black wheel. The salesman Loren and I know said Atlanta is very slow getting back on issues. I'll check next week and see if it is still there.
  13. ? The parts are numbered. Send me a direct email and I will send you the full size that also has a description of each numbered part which also tells you any differences for a tip.
  14. 1234
  15. It is 74-75mm with 14 flats. Same one used on a Porsche 944.
  16. After the morning tech session Loren and I stopped by our local dealer to check out this new 2004 turbo cab. It had been moved to the area where they prep the cars so it was unlocked. Loren is on the right taking his own pictures. He looked and verified it does have a turbo motor. Option sticker. Guess X50 now includes the ManTronic option at no cost.
  17. After I saw the steering wheel I walked around the car to see if I could see anything else out of order. I did check to see if it had Bi-Xenons. I think after the Sunnyvale tech session I am going back to AB and takes some more pictures and get the keys. Wonder how long that car is going to sit on the lot while Atlanta figures out what to do. I posted the picture on the German Boxster board as a fine example of their quality control. Kirby are you sure you did not play around with this car. :clapping:
  18. A battery tender has nothing to do with the central locking system. 5 days is still 5 days.
  19. My knowledge of electrical or stereo stuff is little to none. About 5 years ago someone claimed they installed an A/B switch on a Boxster. Satelite radio did not exist back then. Back then us Boxster owners only had the 210 radio which did not have an aux in, as the 220 did not start until 1999 when the 996 was first sold in the US. I remember no details or if it is true. Maybe you cut into the the cd changer cable and install the switch. Try the Becker board but it looks like Horst does not answer questions anymore. The messages I have seen there over the years are just what I have reported. For what it is worth, PCM2 does not even have an aux in. If you have a changer and want to switch to XM you have to use a modulator. Different system but why you cannot switch from one to the other questions have been going on for years.
  20. No fair. You must have been to AB today. Made it out of the factory and PDI like that. It is a special order and I wonder what the owner thinks about German quality. I teased them that it may not have a turbo motor. So it sits in the back lot until it can be figured out what to do.
  21. Went to my local dealer at lunch time to chat with the people I know. Told me to look in the back lot at a 2004 turbo that just came off the truck. Still had the plastic wrap and foam. I shot through the window as I did not have time for them to find the keys. What is wrong with this picture?
  22. I doubt if anyone on the internet can figure out an electrical problem when your mechanic who has the car cannot. I never heard of an undocumented fuse. Why would such a thing exist on a car? The wiring diagrams are very detailed. You say you had an accident which to me means simple body work. Did they mess around with any part of the car that would involve electrics? A lot of older Boxster owners have replaced batteries with no problem and I disconnect them all the time when we work on cars. Was your car charged at a very high amp level and fry something? You can always go to a dealer if all else fails. Maybe it is something the PST2 will pick up. Jeff
  23. I don't pay much attention. Our local Porsche group works on car together and when I see something non oem I will take a look at it. Other then the way you suggested I know of no way without a modulator if you have a changer. The socket that the changer cable plugs into on the back of the radio head is the same socket for the aux in. That is why you cannot have both at the same time. One or the other only.
