  1. Never seen a grade rating on any wheel bolt. But there are many things I have not yet seen. Are you going to convert to studs and nuts?
  2. I have a set of anti tamper bit from Frys Electronics because I use them on other things. If you want just the one and only bit you will ever use, they are sold by Orchard Supply Hardware.
  3. 14 mm and the pitch is 1.5
  4. I do not know what kind of allen tool you have, but if you have problems getting to the 3 allen screws than you might want to unbolt the seat and slide it out of the way so you have more clearance. And remember you do not have to remove the 3 screws. Just give them about 4 turns.
  5. I still do not see it on the current parts list, or under tequipment. But Porsche updates the the parts computer every month. I'll take a look at it when it shows up and see if it is the same design like used on a 996.
  6. Is that a good number. I do not see it on the parts list.
  7. The switch takes a minute to replace - once you have removed the center console. B&M has good instructions on how to remove the console - it is just 7 screws. Loren may have the instruction on this site. If not someone will give you a link or email them. The link I have is old and not working.
  8. The plan is to have this 2.5 to 3.4 conversion at the October 9th tech session in Santa Cruz. The guy who built it is our host. Check out the events section.
  9. So, did all those cars kill the grass with their leaky oil seals?
  10. No. And it is not artic silver. But. Ask your dealer what is PNA 500 986 03. Listed as Boxster wheel paint. My parts guy does not have a clue. Costs about $40 so it is more than a touch up paint.
  11. That thing has been sold on ebay for a long time, and not just by the guy currently selling it, and not just for Boxsters. Look at his feedback and the fact you cannot contact the buyer. It tricks the car into thinking it is a cold start condition all the time so the air/fuel mixture is rich all the time. Not even sure if that device will work on a Boxster. Do not waste your money.
  12. This is a common problem with the Boxster. Did not know the 996 had the same issue. Start the car and pull up on the lever. If the warning light does not come on then it is the switch. There is a $5 switch on the brake lever that needs to be replaced. A better switch has come out. Have to remove the center console like you were going to do a B&M install. To get you going pull up and down on the lever a bunch of times and you might improve the electrical contact.
  13. Looks like it has the same 997 passenger handcuffs.
  14. This measuring mandrel is turning out to be much about nothing. I talked to 2 mechanics I know at my local dealer. They have never had a car where the mandrel did not fit, yet seal leaks continued after passing the mandrel test. I will use Jean's 2000 Boxster as an example as his car is at my local dealer now. He had 4 seal replacements over the years, and the 4th seal leaked as well. The last 2 replacements were done after the new tools, including the mandrel, had come out. I know my dealer has them because they put on the tech session where we were shown them. Jean knows about them because he was at the tech session. So the fact the mandrel fits means nothing. They have gone back to hand measuring like in the past. By the time of the 4th seal leak Jean's car was out of warranty. In July they gave up on more seal replacements and put in a rebuilt engine. The rebuilt engine had a vibration problem, and the oil filter was loaded with metal. So after 800 miles the rebuilt engine was replaced with another rebuilt engine. Same problem. So now he gets a new engine. It is supposed to be here from Germany by the end of the week.
  15. Jean just broke the cable where it attaches to the lever. Remove the lever assembly and see what is going on. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2751
  16. Went back to parts and they now had the new style. The new style clip is on the left. Hard to see the difference, but it is different.
  17. Only one clamp for a water pump replacement. I bought it in case I had to replace the plastic tank. You can borrow it anytime you want. Guess what, the dealership has the same type tool.
  18. Have fun with might be your next RMS. The screw is because there is no puller for the seal. They put a sheet metal screw into the metal back of the seal and use the screw to pry the seal out. They even charge for a 1 cent screw than can be reused.
  19. My 2003 Boxster friend also told me his RMS was replaced last year. He showed me the paperwork and it was the input shaft seal on the transmission per the part number listed. Not the RMS. The words 'oil seal replacement' does not mean much without a part number. The RMS has a part number of 999 113 490 40. Is that part number listed?
  20. For all you freeway queens. 2 different stories as to what Porsche uses at the factory when the car is made and what is sold at the parts counter, and for all we know they may have multiple suppliers. This is what your dealer sells. This is the Ate Type 200 amber. Note, the numbers are a bit higher than what the dealer sells. This is Ate super blue 'racing' fluid. Same specs as the Type 200. But due to the blue dye it cannot have the DOT label.
  21. I'm not sure either. I answer many questions on message boards and emails each day and I confused you with Patrick, a local Boxster owner I know. He wanted to know about the 2 wires and adding a cd changer. I now see that was not you. Good luck with your install. Do not know of any issue with hooking up the 2660/CDC-3 changer. If Patrick also gets the changer by the time we do the install and there is an issue I will let you know. Sorry for my confusion.
  22. Find your paper work or ask them to print out your service history from the computer. If they will not do it and it was warranty work then go to another dealer and ask them to print it out. Report back the part numbers that were replaced. Axel seals is a new one, so that is a transmission oil leak. But any oil seal can leak. Usually when the are worn out after many, many miles, but with Porsche you never know.
  23. Try it out. 2 mm is very small. Hazet says their wrench is also for some VW, Audi, and Mercedes.
  24. That almost sounds like a Hazet 2169, except it is 74 mm with 14 flats. Well, the box says 74 mm but the Hazet catalog says 74.4 mm. It is the one on the left. Are you sure it is 76 and not 74 mm? I think 76 would work but there is only one way to find out for sure.
  25. http://www.realmeangarage.com/ Bob Grisby, the owner of RMG. Actually, cooling was the 3rd tec session he put on that I went to. I tell other local out of warranty people to see his shop. I hope you know that there is a tech session in Santa Cruz next month. Guess I better get rid of my VW cap as well. This is Bob at a prior tech session, PST2.
