  1. Porsche calls it expansion rivet. 999 507 499 40
  2. Do you have sound from the rear speakers. Pull the head and make sure all the connectors on the back are seated. Play with the fader.
  3. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread....threadid=187022
  4. I asked Gay the other day when this feature started as he has a 2002 996 cab because I could not remember if it was model year 2002 or 2003. It is 2003. But now there is SmartTop for the 996.
  5. Looks like cup design for a 993. If you get the part number off the back then I can look it up if it is a Porsche wheel.
  6. Use only Pentosin CHF 11S. It is synthetic. Older Porsche cars could used GM power steering fluid, but not our cars. You can buy it on the net for less than what I paid. I have gone through 1 1/2 cans in the past few years because I have a leak in the power steering rack. I buy it from an import part place as it is also used by BMW. Last 1 liter can was $24. You only need a little unless you have a leak as the reservoir is small. A shot glass or 2 will top it up. I once asked by dealer how much they charged and I was suprised because it was in the same range or maybe less than what I pay. This is my joke picture because I have to top it up every few months. The blue stuff is dye in water. Pentosin has a green color to it.
  7. Your part number is for 315 mhz and I am pretty sure this is not used in the UK as I saw a 996 key remote head on UK ebay and the part number traced back to 433 mhz. If your option sticker has 534 then it is 433 mhz. In the US we have 535 on the sticker which is 315 mhz.
  8. This is an old one. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...t=0entry11426 That is the way our local group did it in July. It shifted fine with the oem shift in place and then again with the addition of the B&M.
  9. Our local group has filmed 4 oil changes. Hard to film when you are working on a driveway as you cannot get good shots with a video camera. Raman next to the oil has the camera on the ground. Remove old filter and replace with new. Remove drain plug, let oil drain, replace plug. Fill engine with oil.
  10. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...5422entry5422 You are doing this again? It is a 4 day job unless Kirby or Raman are around.
  11. 18" wheels are approved on 1998 and newer. It was the first year, 1997, that they were not approved. And, for my editorial comment. I have never seen a Porsche approval for 19" wheels but there are Boxster owners who have them.
  12. There have been several recent tech sessions and drives so no one has had time to get their hands dirty. Also need to set up a future tech session with Wheel Tech near the airport. We should do something soon. Feel free to set up your own event. Jeff
  13. 315 mhz and 433 mhz are listed. In the US we use 315 so I assume in the UK you use 433. My US Boxster remote key has TXF315P on it. See if you have 433 on yours. 433 is part number 980 643 244 00
  14. Porsche does not sell just the bushings. What you can do is use the B&M bushings with the oem shift. That is what you see in the front shift tower.
  15. This one is free. I had the round black one on my 1997 like is on a 1999. I now have the silver painted one that started in 2000. All Boxster shifts interchange, you just have to watch out for the 5 or 6 speed pattern.
  16. I think it is 996 102 118 52 - called deflection roller. It is hard to tell because the parts diagram just shows pulleys and not their orientation on the engine. Send me an email and I will send you the page.
  17. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1562 http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1416
  18. What model year is your car. And how many miles on it. We remove the rear tires to replace the plugs since most of us do not have a lift.
  19. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1562 I used the word Kluster as a joke. You test the needle position before you put the cluster back together. Ignore the air bag out in the picture as Ray also replaced his 4 spoke steering wheel with a 3 spoke at the same time as the face replacement. We needed an air bag hooked up when the ignition was turned on to test the needle position.
  20. There are 2 relays for each fan, high and low speed. I have them marked in pairs for each side of the car, but the wiring diagram does not say which pair is for what side. All 4 of them are identical so you can start swaping to see if that is the problem. There is also a ballast resistor for each fan. If that goes bad then the one fan on that resistor will not work.
  21. Give it to me and I will dispose of it properly - in my car. Apparently Mobil says 10 years. http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultima...ic;f=1;t=000435
  22. The battery is just for the remote control. Instructions on how to change it are in the manual. You should have another remote key and a valet key. Use the other remote key for a week or so and see if it does the same thing. I would say the switch is going bad but you say the electrics work. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...st=0entry1941
  23. The plot thickens. I know the mechanic and he was just standing there looking at the engine he had just put in. When I asked him what was going on he said it was a euro engine and could not bolt on the exhaust. That is when I notice the missing starter cat. He did not tell me it was a 2.5. Here is Paul's 2003 that he posted on the UK Boxster board. No starter cat, looks like a 2.5. But he is from Australia if that makes a difference.
  24. I am on the UK Boxster board and they tell me they do not have the cat on the manifold, and their 2.7/3.2 looks like a 2.5. But I have never seen ROW car in person. My 2.5 looks like the first picture.
  25. If I combine 2 of the answers then you got it. Somehow a European engine was sent to my California dealer. You can tell because it does not have the cat on the exhaust manifold like a US car does. The manifold on the euro engine is a little bit longer and the mechanic could not put the exhaust back on. That is when the error was discovered. This is a US manifold. The cat is part of the manifold.
