  1. Unless there is something new, you can have aux-in or the cd changer, but not both. The aux-in plug goes into where the cd changer plug is.
  2. If you have the anniversity edition then the console is Carrera GT silver, not artic stilver. I see no listing for the nonsmoker tray in your color. Looks like the grill is 996 645 049 02 01C for black.
  3. If it were me I would have checked the simple stuff. Take the battery to a parts place and have it tested, more so if you have the original. I have in the back of my mind that something can go wrong inside the battery and then you cannot use jumpers to start it. If the battery is ruled out then I could suspect the ignition switch, a known problem. Since your car is out the dealer you will find out if it is not something so simple.
  4. I can't remember what I did yesterday. We have removed that trim on several cars and never a problem. I do make sure the clips, think there is 4, are in place before putting it back on because once in a while they pull out when you pull off the trim. From looking at this picture there is no clip at the top. So it must be 2 on each side. Pull it off and put it back on, starting at the top.
  5. I think 3 is for when you remove the air vent. I remember sticking in a screwdriver in there. Pull your trim off. If I remember right there are metal clips for the plastic prongs on the back of the trim. Sometimes those clips come out.

  7. To keep it simple, the air bag unit on a 4 spoke shares no parts with a 3 spoke air bag. If you want a 3 spoke steering wheel then you need the air bag for a 3 spoke steering wheel.
  8. A 30 weight oil was approved but no longer. My 1997 has had 15W-50 since its first oil change. 15w-50 was an approved oil but no longer. But I continue to use it. Most people use 0W-40 these days. It is what my dealer now uses, but they use to use 15W-50.
  9. I do not see that part number but Porsche changes them all the time. 70C is the color code for black. I think the silver is FHB. Where did you get the part number from?
  10. It has been a while since I removed a tip wheel. Remove the air bag. There should be 2 screws for each switch. I forget if you have to remove the horn contact plate to get to the screws. Once you get the air bag off you will be able to tell.
  11. If you have the retrofit kit in the kit is a black control unit and a wiring harness. If you do not install this and just install the headlights the low xenon beam will not rotate up a few degrees to fill in with the high halogen beam when you select high. Both beams will still work, just not the beam rotation when you select high. We filmed the complete install for the DIYer DVDs and the run time is 42 minutes.
  12. We have done the retrofit on 2 cars. We installed the control unit and the wiring harness both times.

  15. Jim on Rennlist said the G50 transmission shares some parts. His transmission was rebuilt by California Motorsports, Lake Havasu City, AZ 928-855-5755.
  16. Search under coolant as this has been covered a few times. Try water and see if pressure holds and if that is your issue. Min to Max is just a few cups of a liquid. Full list price on the cap is $17. It is a VW cap. No clue if that is your issue, but you might as well try the new style cap first since it is not money lost if it is something else.
  17. If the cap does not hold pressure then coolant can get on the ground near the passenger side tire since that is where the overflow tube is. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1838 If you do not know what the liquid on the ground is then none of us who cannot see your car is in a superior position to guess. Could be power steering fluid. Could be.... The cap is a known problem so that is what I threw out. That is why the design of the cap has changed and the part number now ends in 01. The cap does not cost much. Replace the cap and fill the tank to the max level. If it happens again then let us know, because you have ruled out the cap.
  18. First, was the a/c on when your noticed the leak. Second, the a/c drain tube is in the front of the car. There are drain tubes in the area you describes for water from the top and coolant overflow. Check your coolant level. Check to see if the carpet in the trunk is damp. If the coolant tank is low then fill it to the max level with water. If it is coolant dumping out then check your blue cap. If the part number ends in 00 then there is a cap that seals better with the part number ending in 01.
  19. The oem pads are Galfer front and Textar rear. They also have the Brembo name on them. The friction ratings are FF. There have been a lot of mergers in the friction material buisness. For example. TMB Friction Group owns Textar, Pagid, and Mintex. PBR use to be Repco. A year or two ago we put in front pads made by Remsa. They were only about $40 and the owner likes them on his street car. They are repackaged and sold under different names. The rating is FE.
  20. It is in the rear trunk behind the carpet piece which has the light. There is a picture of it in the cruise control retrofit thread. I think you have a tip so you will see a second control unit behind the carpet.
  21. Porsche says to disconnect the battery in the rear speaker instructions. The side air bag impact sensors are in the rocker panels, where you are supposed to run the wires from the speakers to the radio head. It is better to be safe than sorry. If you are going to tuck the wires under the center console then I see no reason. We have done it this way a few times without disconnecting the battery. If you blow something up then I never met you. It takes a few seconds to disconnect the negative cable to the battery with a 10 mm wrench. If you want to do it your way because you do not have the radio code then you should just get the code.
  22. The relay is a double sized relay, like the top relay. Where the yellow X is. On the PCA tech site it says just to remove the relay. I have in the back of my memory that someone on the internet said other lights, like for the license plate, may not work. So pull the relay and let us know if all the other lights still work.
  23. As you know, there is a foam seal on the back of the tray. But if you had a hole in the tray then stuff could get to the electrical connections. I have seen only 1 or 2 trays that were corroded from acid. 10 years from now it may be an issue.
  24. The old faces will just peel off. You can reuse them. They are a thick laminated plastic, or something like that. These are the ones we removed from a Boxster, to replace with white/silver. I could put them back on and you would never know. There is some issue with putting the needles back on from what I have seen on the message boards. I have taken a few clusters apart and never had a problem so I do not know what people are doing wrong.
  25. Whether you should have a flat fixed or a tire replaced has been beaten to death. For years and years. Some do. Some don't. You have a concern. Replace it. End of story.
