The engine replacement went well. We had to swap the heads because the VW engine did not have a mounting hole for the vacuum pump on the upper timing cover and no drive on the timing chain wheel. Other than that the Porsche likes the Vw engine. As a side note the Porsche cam timing marks and the VW marks are not the same...for a fact.

I am a repair shop. 45 years almost all Porsche work. I received this car from a client that lives in Belize. He bought it from an on-line auction in the L.A. area. Possible vehicle theft with maximum abuse? The car has been hit in the front hard. I believe the engine from a Touareg will fit even though I really have never even seen a Tourareg. I have found an engine up in the NW so I need to get over to a dealer and see if they might have one out. Too busy to do that right now but maybe next week. Thanks for the reply. If it does fit I will post to this group.

You mean the Cayenne engines blow up as well? A 2008? What the heck is up with Porsche? :o Isn't your car still under warranty? This car is a salvage pool car with no warranty.

I have a 2008 Cayenne with a blown up engine. Two rods are hanging out of the block. The cost of a factory replacement engine along with the lost core charge of $6,500 will be close to $12,000. The engine is a 3.6L M55.01 V6. What I want to know is this: Does anyone know if a 2007-2008 VW Touareg 3.6L "BHK" crankcase assembly will replace the Cayenne crankcase?
