  9. I'd like to replace the rather dull looking tips on my '04 996 C2 with chrome tips, possible the dual pipe type that I see on a turbo, or just single pipe types. Does anybody have an reconmendations on what I should buy, and also how hard are these to fit? Do I need a ramp? I've seen some that look good on the performance products site. I've also seen some on ebay, but am wary of buying junk. thanks! Simon

  11. Hi Loren, Any advice on removing this panel, or do I just grab it somewhere and pull hard? Don't want to break anything. Also, do you know if the mute line mutes the radio when connected to ground or +12? thanks! Simon
  12. I'm trying to find the charcoal cabin filter for an 04 996. I think the 997 part of now what is meant to be used. Is this the correct part number: P99757121900 thanks, Simon
  13. I have an 04 996 cab and want to replace the cabin/pollen filter. Not sure if I need charcoal activated or not... Sticker says "Carbon Filtered Ventilation System" and the label in the hood does NOT have the option code 571. So, is this charcoal activated or not? thanks, Simon

  15. Thanks Loren, Do I need to pull out the center console and and gear lever surround to get to this, or it there a way to get to this from the heated switch plate? thanks, Simon
  16. I'll update my profile, but I'm in California driving a US car. What panel would I pull off and what would I be looking for cable or connector-wise? thanks in advance for your help! Simon
  17. Is there a source of ignition switched power (for a V1 install) available in the center of the dash where the radio is, or down by the cubby area / heater seat switch panel in an 04 996 non-PCM? I'd like to avoid routing wires from the fuse box area. thanks, Simon
  18. Just ordered an Ashtray delete kit including part No. 996.552.096.01.A03 for an 04 996. The finish on the plastic is slightly less glossy than the one currently in my car. My car is the black flat plastic finish. Is this just a manufacturing variation, plus some Armarol on the original, or do I have the wrong part? I've read elsewhere there is only one version of the tray in black. thanks, Simon
  19. OK thanks, that makes sense. Just ordered the new parts. -Simon
  20. I've seen several 996 Ashtray Delete kits include a new 12V socket for the dash. Why is this needed? Isn't the exiting lighter socket also a 12v accessory socket? thanks, Simon
  21. I have a 2004 996 and the center console (the thing between the front seats) lid doesn't really close unless I slam it hard. Doesn't look like any adjustments can be made, so any advice on fixing this short of replacing everything? thanks, - Simon
  22. Just went through this whole exercise on my 2004 996 C2 Cab. Bought a Sears Diehard Group 48 battery and it worked like a charm. Took 5 minutes to install and I could use a threaded hole to hold it down. The Group 49 that Pep Boys and Sears recommend is large and does not allow a threaded hole to be used. Use a group 48. On reflection the Porsche OEM battery seems antiquated. Simon
  23. Thanks for the photos. Slightly different insulation panel it seems. Simon
