  1. +1 on this advice to have a qualified engine builder review all of the parts and ensure none have been damaged or are already beyond the point of re-use. You can try to attempt the inventory yourself, but it takes considerable experience and/or time to research, and only a qualified machinist will be able to tell you if some of the pieces are fit for re-use or require machining. You can download the porsche parts catalog online from Porshce's website (google Porsche PET online). I can't see any reason why they would not provide you with all of your original parts. Don't take shortcuts on your rebuild by reusing many of these parts which should be repalced regardless, and at not that great of an expense...
  2. Glad to hear the new battery sorted the alarm issue. Perhaps the bulbs were on their last leg and/or jumping/battery replacement procedure fried them or the cluster LCD. Shine a bright flashlight on the display to see if in fact the bulb is bad or if it is the display itself. You shoudl be able to see the numbers on the LCD if it is just a bad bulb. The bulbs are not all that difficult to access and replace. I think you posted another question about that in a different thread. Search here or I believe pelican parts has a good write up on how to remove the instrument cluster. Be sure to use lots of towels when removign it so you don't scratch your dash or steering wheel.
  3. With a hot car in good working order, the idle should be about 680 RPM and very steady. The most common cause of a higher than normal RPM is probably an intake leak. If you don't have a smoke machine or are comfortable using a propane probe, I would encourage you to hire some shop time to have the car checked out for intake leaks. Even a tiny leak from a very tiny vacuum hose could cause enough of a leak to cause issues. There are lots of those all over the engine, from FPR, to SAI, resonance flap, etc. If you are CERTAIN there are no intake leaks or issues perhaps your fuel pressure regulator has failed? It could also be a problem with idle air control valve (99 C2) or throttle body (later cars). Lastly, on cable operated throttle body, (99 C2) if the cable is not routed correctly it can cause the flap to be slightly open at 0 degrees pedal.

  6. You should consider posting a for sale ad, I am sure someone would buy them from you since lowered/performance oriented suspension mods are in high demand. One of the better ways to improve the car if you want improved handling with a compromise in ride comfort.
  7. You did the right thing and having it diagnosed by a professional. The good thing is, this is an inexpensive part which is not terribly difficult to replace. Let us know how the repair works out.
  8. Also stay away from the brand "Laso". They make a similar plastic composite pump, but the one I had started separating after just 200 miles. The new Porsche OE pump is still going strong over 3000 miles later (of course, the original pump lasted 72k). ;)
  9. IIRC pelican parts also has a write up on cluster removal, which will provide access to those bulbs.
  10. Well one thing for certain is usually the aftermarket filters make more noise, which people tend to like.
  11. Interesting combination of codes. What does the car idle at ? I bet it is high. What are the fuel trims at ? Is there an intake leak (p0507?) Also have a look at the throttle body and make sure it is not binding (you should have egas, so unlikely). If the problem is an intake leak and it gets fixed after clearing the codes I would be curious if they come back. For the O2 code check all the wiring of the sensors, perhaps something got damaged or disconnected and it is related to the high idle rpm and p0507, say perhaps the .airbox was removed and then one of the o2 sensor wires got pinched or something..

I'm not sure about the cost for tools in Norway, but here in the US you can pickup a fuel pressure tester for about $40 USD, which might be a good investment since the fuel pump costs considerably more to replace. I'm not sure about the year of your car, but a searching idle can sometimes be due to a dirty or faulty idle control valve and/or throttle body. You might try to clean them first before trying with the more expensive repairs.

  14. If there was water there, you'll want to at minimum pull up all the carpets to see the extent of the damage...
  15. The gear ratios in an automatic are such that typically they operate fine at lower engine RPMs. That being said the PDK itself could be a different beast. What you describe sounds like something you might expect from driving a high performance machine in traffic. I've read that some lambo's are horrible/nearly impossible to drive in those types of conditions. Have you tried feathering the throttle more lightly once it goes down to 2nd? As far as the vibration it's dificult to say what is and isn't normal, you might consider taking it to the dealer and just ask the service managers opinion (who could perhaps have a technician ride along), I think for something like an opinion it would be a no charge and they sit in a lot of Porsches.
  16. This is the second several conversation thread, it can certainly be confusing. :) chris996, I would think a few trips around the block should be sufficient for the suspension to settle. In a shop they just bump the car a little... As Doug suggests, I wouldn't wait too long for an alignment since it can cause premature and uneven tire wear. What is your tire pressure roadsession? Try filling to factory specs. They are posted under the front trunk lid. Also try putting some sand bags in the front trunk. ;)
  17. Without a fuse, the horns will not sound, yes the alarm can still trip. However perhaps a more sensible way to buy some time to troubleshoot and keep the neighbors happy rather than continually disconnecting/reconnecting the battery.

  20. I was also going to suggest engine and transmission mounts. Is it detectable when the car is stationary in neutral at idle and then again at 3000rpm?

  22. Not really! A low battery can cause all sorts of untold strangeness on any car. To eliminate this possibility remove the battery and take it to a qualitfied auto parts store and they can test it for free. Replacement costs of a battery are in the $75-100 range, so in that case, my opinion is that your sanity is more important than $100, if the battery is suspect.
  23. Since your car is a ROW car it may have a tilt sensor, which is picking up the ground vibrations?
