  1. Hey pk2, I remember reading an article on european magzine for their project turbo car? I think
  2. Tint your window,,, for me I just love it
  3. Hey guys, it's about time for me to upgrade my tail-lights. But, as usual it's a headache. just having a difficult time to decide which 1 I should go with. I kinda like the crystal look of LED's but the other hand kinda wanna stay old school(stock). So these r what I came down to- What do u-fellas think? Any input would be well appreciated! What I have now is this 550 first choice would be this second my last choice would be of course
  4. It sounds as though you are running no cats, replacing both the front cats with headers and the rears with the test pipes. If this is the case you will have issues. The DME needs to see a drop between the front and rear O2 sensors to know the cats are working, if it does not, CEL. I believe Fabspeed claims no CEL when you use their test pipes alone. You would still have the main cats on the headers which would result in no problems. In order to run no cats, you would need to flash the DME with a new program, either custom or ROW-quotes from 986 forum.com
  5. all depends on the oil change intervals, over heating history, carbon, operation RPM's, how driven during warm-up, ...............all factor The gas engined (those with 2-row timing chains) Mercedes-Benz,Porsche can last up to 150 -200 K miles given carefull driving and maintenence. The Diesel motor encounter a huge amount of vibration, shock loads on the timing chain and their chain timing can be 'off' at 100K miles even under good conditions. Timing chains are, for the most part, lifetime items. While it is possible for them to fail, they are pretty much maintenance free. Tensioners can sometimes go bad past 100K. But it does happen! some of the babbler;s post- own a very well cared for boxster that just yesterday dropped the primary timing chain as I was backing out of my garage!! My 2000 has 58K miles. The independent shop that I use for ALL service says it's about a $14K fix, as Porsche requires a full replace/ exchange crate motor. I'm not interested in salvage motors but want to ask if any of you have 1st hand or direct knowledge of this being the case and is the cost in the normal range. Hi, Back in January, my 2002 Boxster suddenly slowed 70+ to a stop. Trying to start it brought popping. I limped to a service area and filled up. Trying to re-start started a fire under the engine. The technician told me to put in an insurance claim for fire. The insurance agreed to replace all burnt parts. The technician did so then on starting the car found one bank of cylinders not running. Now its either a $4000 valve job or a nearly $8000 replacement engine with a 2 yr warranty.
  6. This was well covered in New Zimmerman/Mintex Squeak topic I think! You're right. It's in the shop today for other things and in looking over the car they said there is still room left. I probably have another 6 months to go on the fronts. Thanks for the reply. On the other hand they came up with a cam cover oil leak so I'm getting a bill today regardless... ...so what was the sqweak? mine does the same :)
  7. Only thing I can think of is what mrkwats mentioned here"6 channel amp has diff pin connections" I',m wondering if u 've removed the plug- in wire terminal but system is still not working? B1~B8 should be speaker level output as well as input for ur digital becker. I would meter those wires first if u r getting a proper signal then head unit should be fine. Then next step would be metering output wires from Becker amplifier. make sure to play with ur settings-fader,balance,loud on,GAL off
  8. When my battery goes dead. I usually open the front manually by locating & jerking the front cable runs inside of left front fender wall. Cable for ur rear lid runs right behind the left tail light. I did it a few times but only with my tail light out. If u have ur bumper removed, try to slip a code hanger then snag that cable!
  9. Try 1 of these German Euro plate/ frame kit from Ebay!
  10. falling autumn leaves , nice pix djomlas! your car is lookin sharp .
  11. Ok p0430 number of things could cause this 1- bad, cheap gas 2- canister located up front wheel well could be going bad 3- catalytic converter itself is bad P0447 1- loose gas cap 2- if car has been siiting & ideling too long 3- Cheap gas? lol
  12. did u know they make 9500i GPS with theft tracking? Please don;t think I'm rubbing it in, thought i just mention. I mounted mine below the dash first but too many objective so not its tucked nicely on my dash(above). I also hard wired it -cigg adapter is way too ugly I think (left
  13. make sure u bought the right kind plug-I would check the heat range. then get a second opinion,,,
  14. LOL pk2 Yup I think so, they de-snorkeled it with Borla! hahaha Jeez, another limited addition… collect them all! …I count 3 so far. THink they'll appreciate like Princess Di commemoratives? What is the 303 hp up from? All done with exhaust? Regards, PK
  15. what u've described applies to any battery out there ,not only the Optima. once battery is drained like that all the way they r almost not recoverable unless it is deep cycle.
  16. Porsche won't be coming to the Bologna Motor Show in Italy empty handed. Instead, the souls from Stuttgart will be unveiling a limited edition Boxster S that draws inspiration the automaker's 1960 win at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the Type 718 RS<---MY FAVORITE! The Boxster RS 60 Spyder comes swathed in GT Silver Metallic paint with a Carrera Red interior to match the #42 car it's attempting to channel, along with a serialized silver plaque on the dash proclaiming its limited numbers and a new front spoiler. But it's not just a bit of extra glitz heaped atop the already competent Boxster S. The stock rollers are swapped in favor of a set of 19-inch Porsche SportDesign alloys, the suspension benefits from Porsche's Active Suspension Management system (PASM) and the flat-six is uncorked with a sports exhaust that bumps output to 303 HP. In a surprising move Porsche has unveiled a very special model at the Bologna Motor Show: the Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder.
  17. I heard this complaint before if your problem is occuring when she is hot! Most likely spark plugs: Fouled spark plugs cause hard starting or no-starts, requiring plugs with a hotter heat range or it could also be trouble code 0446 evaporative control circuit. I'll probably start w/ my plugs first,,,
  18. LOL You bugger, I was writing a tome about Swepco, while you were posting. Thought I was alone. See above. PK
  19. Yup I got mine permanently attached as u see. So it's always there if I ever need it!
  20. U might be able to find it at a local import store if not online!
  21. No matter where u get em from , make sure they r at least GRADE 8 and above. Yes I'm familiar with those BSA wheels. Manufactured in Malaisya? They do come with diff offset options but not these wheels. I got about 80 more those chrome lug bolts sitting around in my shop, let me know if u need any. And I wouldn't use those old factory lugs, they shouldn't fit properly. So where'd you get those bolts from??? I just installed some similar BSA wheels (but the machined/polished version) and I need some chrome bolts now. :P On my 2000 S I didn't have any fit issues in the front with the caliper. It's odd that you did. I do have a rub in the back though since my car is lowered. Kirk
  22. Of course Optima would be the best! Thanks to exclusive SpiralCell Technology, Optima Batteries last twice as long as conventional automotive batteries.
  23. Thanks Alan! I know u do , I remember we talked about desnorkeling your 986-LOL These new wheels would be 100% after market. Also I do believe they look the best w/ black car :D Sharp! I have a black '01 S. Are your wheels factory or aftermarket copies of Carrera wheels?
