  1. Hey Jay, for your 60.000 mile service. there are only a few things needs be done. replace engine oil,oil filter replace air filter element replace spark plugs replace or inspect polyrib belt replace fuel filter check everything else etc,,, Barrier Porsche will charge about $1200.00 I just finished my 45.000 service. This service can be done in a few hours! with the genuine OEM parts, who knows what they r using in a private shop. also the other issues r pretty easy to repair! obviously I never used em but u might try Akers, european motor works they are not gonna be much cheaper though I'm a newby porsche owner, I just bought a 2001 boxster 2.7 a couple of months ago (I love it!). I'm approaching the 60k mark and need to get it serviced. I've also noticed a few other issues that I would like to get checked out. A thumping noise from the rear right side when I hit bumps, My alarm intermitently goes off, My front left brake squeeks, and cruising along around 30 mph it feels like I have a flat tire (but I dont). Those are the main things that I need a mechanic for and dealerships seems to charge alot. Thanks!
  2. go take a look at my topic- new rear window installed,,,
  3. these 2center caps r bidding for 8$ on Ebay. All u need is metal emblem 2 days left, u better hurry Those are for hood emblems. I need the wheel crest that goes to the center wheel cap. I found all those you mentioned already. Thanks though! Chris
  4. I think this is the biggest problem on a 986. That dumbass Porsche engineering to locate this fragile electronic component at the bottom of floor for a roadster! I've seen this happened more than 100 times now. U might get lucky if your fuse was just popped or few hrs of tracing here & there . Once your computer is ruined like here, this can be a very frustrating & spendy nightmare! Your car won't run - who knows how many days, gotta order the computer module + new key because your stupid computer will never recognize your old key as TP mentioned + reprogramming for DME + more programming. My blue fuse was blown about 2yrs ago and floor was little damp. I don't mount my module on the floor anymore, using a couple of wire ties now it is just floating to the bottom of my driver seat. Ever since she is just fine!
  5. any time Man. that' why we are all here for, I believe. 1 can of nite shade tokk care of my problem ,,, I know clear headlight can be $$$ The lug bolts worked great, thanks for getting them to me. I would love to update the lights and get rid of the amber, but that comes with a big pricetag too. I'll probably stick with what I have.
  6. I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine Ron at a local PORSCHE dealer. If you are sure it is the cam actuator solenoid. U might not like what I'm writinng. That part can only be ordered from PORSCHE dealer & it cost $1040.00 USD. Total quote was $2460.00<- OUCH. But I bet my $$$ on it 90% it's not the actuator. it's probably just the solenoid u need! The part number is 99660590100 Degree on this project can be difficult, it is usually a professional recomended job but I think U can do it! Also u must have a Tool P9624 - plate that goes from one cam plug to the other behind the passenger seat. It has a tab where a bolt fastens it to the cyl-head to hold the cams down while the cam cover is removed Yes we've done it once back in Spokane with another buddy of mine Jared, he also is a Master dealermechanic. It's supposed to take 6~10 hrs with proper tools ,shop . Unfortunately no detailed pix for this, some online soured pix maybe . For u hopefully 20hrs? lol This was quoted by busa4 by the way, lift the rear end of the car so you can get under, best to have 2 floor jack stands,,,exaust manifold first, coils, plugs, solenoid seal, any wire or connector in the way and the spark plug tunnels (spark plug tunnels are the plastic sleeves that prevent oil from leaking into the spark plug and coil). you will have to remove each of these plastic tunnels with a hook tool. make one out of a hanger. that hook and allen wrenches is the only speacial tool you really need.
  7. I'm not sure if u guys have seen these pix before. A few pics from STUTTGART
  8. Hey hermosa , so those lugs I sent U worked out OK? hahaha she is looking pretty good, now U need to deamber everything. She will look so much better & newer!
  9. I never used it , but it is connected. U will just have to turn it on.
  10. wow only 300? for a glass top? have u replaced it yet? cuz its a lot of work, labor is about almost $1000 U might be able to do it with my window kit, azcarguy! LOL
  11. Hey Micaeal, seems like U are pretty new to a 986? congrats! all the things u r concerned about are all normal including your HVAC smell, lol Yup that sounds like all normal to me. just try to take it easy - give it a about half second release.
  12. hahahah LOL. Is PNP kit 2-way paper cone or full range with no tweeter? I'm also wondering what u -guys were feeding those 3-1/2's. All depends on what's feeding them and also if 3-1/2 r properly croosedover passively - would make a big difference.
  13. what r u riding with now? I had 17" upgraded to 18" as posted 1 of my topics. but ride comfort decrease is very noticable. I'm sure 19" is going to be very rough .Also when u get to lower than 30 series side walls ,u seriously gonna lose your handling capability. Just not enough sidewall height for cornering. Sure 19' s will fir with some spacers & look good . But the other hand substantial amount of compromising on many other things!
  14. Basically the Dension acts like a CD Changer, where each ‘CD’ on the head unit performs a different function:
  15. Yup, usually it is the vario cam solenoid. but it could also be a bad cam position sensor, cam timing system? I highly doubt it But check your wiring hardness first! Solenoid is located on the cam cover, U will need some special tools to take the right side cam cover and housing off to get at the solenoid from a PORSCHE dealer. Engine can stay , but U will need to remove the exaust manifold, coils, spark plugs, solenoid seal, and the spark plug tunnels. Be sure to replace all your seals and get some silicone seal from PORSCHE, because there is no gasket for it. Dealer repair cost can be a bit steep on this1 (+$2000) Good luck!
  16. Thanks honda ! Yes everything was fabricated & done by me. Door speakers are fairly easy, I'm passionate about working on my ride so it is actually fun process for me usually :) . The hardest part has to be the removing your door panel , there is a manual posted by me or others. There r many mid speakers/component sets out there. Wanting a true component set, my choice was Clif design Competition 5-1/4 component system- this way I didn't have to modify my speaker baffle + didn't have to build an extra tweeter pod(built in tweeter) Then ugly 4" Alpine was replaced with a pair of Infinity 3.5" I still needed something more for my rear stage sound. Clif Design competition series 1" titanium tweeter was installed the rear door pocket, yes my door still slides passive crossover was used , of course whats the point having all these nice speakers if u r not feeding right frequencies to em! 7" motorized touch screen,DVD, MP4, DIVX,SD/USB SLOT was mounted then I got a bundle of cables to deal with! Wow I wish some of you guys can be here actually to listen She sounds INCREDIBLE
  17. I used them for over 3 yrs now, but they r just fine! Well center console hinge is very fragile as it is. When this thing sits properly in the console they don't even rub against em.
  18. I believe these r the best cup holders by far. I'm just wondering, if many of u are equipped with this console cup holder?
  19. I added 7mm on the front 12mm on the rear. longer lug blots are also required. got some photos in New set of wheels came topic,,,
  20. since my sub is almost finished  , 2nd phase was installing an amplifier. I've always thought u can never have enough power in a 986 - especially with the top down! I thought about a few leading brands out there. But of course my first choice had to be POWER FROM THE GODS- HIFONICS The highest performance amplifiers in mobile audio industry in my opinion. Conquering power and unsurpassed performance not found in other brands, the lowest distortion in its class. Having 10 speakers + a sub woofer ,this time I chose to go with TXI440 - 4 channel bi- amp. I will be in total control with the integrated Accu Cross™ active crossovers. Tweaking the acoustical balance between the vehicle acoustical anomalies, new sub woofer MONSTER CABLEs were prefered. First RCA cable ,remote on,speaker cables were routed(driver's side fire wall rubber plug) then entering to the front trunk (passenger side rubber plug) tucked in nicely , carpet covering needs to go back on even though all of my speakers were replaced , 8- factory speaker cables were spliced here #2 AWG power cables were terminated + permanent wiring for my battery maintainer final termination, don't ever go for those cheap rca's / cables. they will make a substatial amount of difference.
  21. now this thread has gone further ~ I would have to say B&M
  22. Here is a great instruction I believe .hope this might be able to help u out 67.pdf
