  1. I just got off the ph with skidmark since he doesn't live too far from me. Notorious IMS failure on a 986. It's pretty ridiculous how your close to $30,000 car engine gives up around 25,000 miles,,, shaft bearing, seal? who knows. As he mentioned timing is still intact, oil hasn't poured yet. but, U pretty much have to open up the engine/ requires 100% dissemble of the engine. And it's very expensive to re-build a 986S engine even if U know how to do it (something even a dealer tech guy would hesitate to do?) Motor Meister sells re manufactured engine for about $5999 w/ rebuildable exchane.
  2. Current Dustributor Ignition lock F4 80AMP It's the 30-24.0 RE/WH wire! when the ignition is in start position YE wire is the one sends the power to start lock relay support. wiring diagrams(as of 00model)
  3. there are 2 cables for the rear, hard to believe both cables are broken. broken/sticky latch? Have someone disengage the lever under the door & see if you can hear the latch releasing,,, maybe its just not coming up, might have to pry it up?
  4. both levers under the driver's side door should work manually(2000model)? I dunno if that irresponsible dealer did it or not perhaps new key needs to be reprogrammed?
  5. There is no such a thing as 3"woofer. No,,, for the rear i have 1 pair of 3-1/2 kappa & 2 pair of CD tweeters but for the location being right behind the both seats. its like covering all your rear speakers with sound dampening cushion? plus I wanted my tweeters to be in the center, better staging sound. my rear mids/tweets are crossed over passively.
  6. I've sold /shipped more than a few sets. when I sold my set of 17's back in oct, 07, I packed em indivisually took em down to a local KINKO(FEDEX). shipping cost from Seattle WA to Montana wa about $128.00.
  7. a few members emailed/asked me regards to this topic,,, I thought to post a few more pics to compare BEFORE & AFTER
  8. 3-1/2 will fit in the rear.I've fitted Infinity Kappa, even custom grill to cover it. 1 pair of cliff design tweeters are mounted on the sliding pocket door+1 pair on my door. Once i had a footwell sub box in my 986, my girl is only 5'7'' she hated her passenger seat,,,
  9. nice match! azzaro. what was the temperature rating on your HID?
  10. all normal,,, when I floor it around 37MPH mine shifts 1st to seceond :D
  11. There is a topic called "Not Working Doorlocks, Windows, and Alarm Keys ",,,
  12. Ahaha can you please tell me then where would be a good spot for a 986? There isn't a good spot,,, ouch, my ears hurt just looking at it!!! I don't think that is a good spot for a sub, IMHO. It's too close to the ears and it must interfere with the other tones. You probably have it set on low and the other tones on high to compensate for the position? There doesn't appear to be enough room for resonance, but you do have it lifted so that can somehow give it enough air to pump...
  13. 8" Punch DVC coil pushed by Hifonics stabled at 2 OHM. I had to compromise on my center console
  14. how about something like that lexan piece u ordered but dark tinted & bigger solid piece to fit around the roll bar? matching my tinted wind block
  15. I don't know if I like this look azzaro, to be honest with u Man! don't take it offensive but reminds me of my grandmas speaker screen? gotta give to U for your dedication
  16. low battery or starter solenoid giving up?
  17. No problem Edman! at least we know that it's not the fan,,,, possibly emergency cable rubbing or the wheel bearing?
  18. There is a topic"desnorkle your 986" in DIY article - MOD section?
  19. 3 wires U will need - BR is your hot(common) GN/BK is your UP, GN/RE is down. extend those 3 wires to your new up/down toggle SW location.
  20. I don't see how pumping your gas pedal would help start the car when 01 2.7 fuel system is controlled electronically,,, Since she is packing 70.000 miles , fuel filter should've been replaced- clogged filter is a possibility, spark plugs should been replaced- bad plug can cause this , also clogged injectors? while U are holding your throttle for 30 seconds, its actually building more fuel pressure? a faulty fuel pump on this model is very rare. First thing I would do is mix a can of Techron injector cleaner w/ full tank of Chevron Super,,,
