  1. Contact your local dealer, or you can also try Sunset Imports. I've purchased Porsche parts from them in the past.
  2. The new CDs for the PCM 2.0 navigation system provide a nice update, and make the system feel much more up to date. They are $299 at your dealer.
  3. I'm running M+S tires on my Cayenne S on 20-inch rims and it is fine in light snow. The PSM will let you slide a little before it kicks in - it doesn't act as aggressively as some other cars. Our HUMMER handles snow and ice better, but the Cayenne is fine. If I had much more snow, I would drop to dedicated snow tires on 18" rims.
  4. There is a TSB for this, and it needs to be done at the dealer. Unfortunately, it doesn't help much. The fix mutes the sound a little bit, but it's always there. It happens in the colder months when you need the heater. I've learned to live with it and/or turn up the radio.
  5. Remove the headlight assembly per the owner's manual. When you do, look inside the fender and find the bolts that attach the "carriage" with the connection wires to the frame. They are black, and are 10mm. They tend to loosen over time, allowing the carriage to move and the connection to become inconsistent, resulting in the error message. Tighten the bolts and see if this helps your problem. It did for me. Good luck.
  6. I drive a 2004 CS every day, and I love it. No regrets, no major issues. I think the key is a good PPI, and make sure you check the service history. There are some good 2004s out there, and there are some 2005s out there with issues. Take your time and be careful, and you'll probably be ok. Have fun with the purchase!
  7. I suggest you look in the owner's manual if you haven't already. There is a setting in the nav settings screen that lets you adjust the volume for this. Welcome to Cayenne ownership - your turbo looks great.
  8. Mine does just over 19 cruising at 70 - 75 mph. If I slow down to 60 - 65, it goes over 20. This is all according to the OBC also - I haven't bothered to work it out myself. I may try that on my next trip.
  9. What model/year Cayenne you sportin'? Hopefully it won't be a major issue. My PASM has always worked fine. I did have 4 people in the car and a large load of fishing gear recently, and when we got out at the cabin the suspension released air as the weight was removed... it sounded like 18-wheeler brakes. Other than that, no issues.
  10. I turn my PSM to "off" every now and then, but not always. It isn't really practical for driving slowly around town... always holding 3rd gear, etc. Sometimes I upshift with the tiptronic controls on the wheel in combination with PSM off. It is certainly the way to go for spirited driving.
  11. If you remove the headlight assembly you'll see that it sits inside of a black plastic carriage. There are two bolts (10mm, IIRC) that secure this carriage. These bolts can become loose very easily. If they are loose, they allow movement of the entire unit, and result in flickering and in error messages. I'd start there, see if they are loose and tighten them up. Hopefull that will solve your problem and eliminate the error messages.
  12. Steve, I'm not sure if there is any comparison, but I use a Beltronics unit mounted on the windshield just below the rearview mirror. My Cayenne has the I4GF option, which is "Windscreen of Tinted Glass". I suspect this is not the same thing. I'll be curious to hear if anybody has any experience with your issue. FWIW, I have never had any problems with mine. Good luck.
  13. it was easy ! a lot easier than on my VW's. Only thing I should have done was get new wear sensors. Just for reference, pads were $311, sensors where $43 each. Next time I'll order them online as i'm sure they are cheaper via mail order. TC That sounds really high for sensors. I bought mine at the dealer for $21 per set, for a total of $42. I assume that was what you meant rather than $43 each. Were you able to use the old sensors without any issues? I've heard that you have to replace them once they have been "activated".
  14. That's a strange problem. I had a battery fail recently, and the steering wheel and transmission were locked. I had the flatbed driver hook up jumper cables to the battery ports under the hood long enough to unlock these things and get the Cayenne on the flatbed. When my new battery was installed, my Servotronic power steering unit didn't work. Apparently it was a fuse. Now that the fuse has been changed, everything is fine. Hopefully yours is also just a fuse or something similar. One thing I can say about these cars, is that they do really, really screwy things when the battery is low or dying. Including things like strange error messages. Good luck.
  15. I don't know for a fact that it will work, but I would imagine that it will be possible if you're willing to shell out the cash. I know some people have gone from PCM 2.0 to PCM 2.1, and I think the conversion is $4 - $5K.
  16. do they break ? like broken? whoops? Haven't you had to replace a plastic bolt cover yet? They are frequently dislodged at car washes, etc. I replaced mine 6 months ago. Once they come off the first time, they seem to come off easier and easier until finally they can't hold any longer. Fortunately they are cheap, although when you buy a new one they sell you the entire button assembly for the rear hatch.
  17. Most people buying used Cayennes tend to go for 2005 models or later. They generally have all major bugs worked out. They still may have some problems, but it is less common. That being said, I have a 2004 that has been relatively problem free. Mine was manufactured late in the cycle - in May of 2004. I am still warranty covered, but only until October. One other benefit of the 2005+ models is the fact that the nav system uses the DVD based maps as opposed to the CD based maps. The DVD based system has a much greater amount of detail, and is more updated. Good luck with your choice.
  18. I'm certainly not a mechanic, but a pump/pully noise with a coolant leak sounds like a failing water pump to me. Has the operating temperature of the vehicle changed?
  19. I haven't personally experienced this, but it sounds like it could be a failed cardan shaft, which was a common issue on 2003 and 2004 Cayennes. Do a search for this and see what you find - your problem may be similar to what others have experienced. Your dealer should take care of this for you, there is a TSB regarding this issue.
  20. My total for all the parts was about $500. I am guessing that the dealer's service department would have charged me around $1,000 for this. I have heard that the typical dealer charge for all four brakes, including replacment rotors, is about $1,900. My understanding is that the dealer typically recommends that you change the rotors with each brake change too. My rotors looked good, so I'm glad that I missed that hit this time. I've changed lots of brakes before, and I can say this - I am impressed with the brakes on the Cayenne S. They are 6-piston Brembo brakes in the front, and they are huge.
  21. As a follow up, I replaced all four brake pads over the Memorial Day weekend. I also replaced the sensors for all four pads. My sensors indicated the need for a change at just over 40,000 miles. Upon inspection, the front pads were both worn down to the sensors, although they both had 2 - 3 mm of material left. The rear pads had not yet hit the sensors. My rotors were still well within spec and they still looked very good, so I decided to wait until next time to replace those. Overall, the brake pad change was a pretty simple DIY procedure. The thing that took the longest was finding a good jack point, getting the jack stands in place, etc. Cars with PASM need to have the auto-level program disabled, according to the owner's manual. I followed that procedure before I raised the car. Once the car was in place, the hardest part was getting the caliper pins out so that I could change the pads. It wasn't too bad, just a little tricky. I used brake-kleen to clean up the parts, then things came out easier.
  22. Yeah I have been trying to figure that one out since I got my CT last year and still have not found a way...always shows avg speed :cursing: JR Mine also always defaults to average speed.

  24. I'm shocked that a Cayenne S would be available without cruise control. I though it was a standard feature.
