  1. Likely what I'll do as I don't see the 2010 GTS in my future yet and this Turbo is 99% of what I want and need.
  2. One of those $249 notebooks perhaps? Hate dual boot partition and/or virtual machines. I'd rather buy a windows portable and chuck it.....
  3. I'd love durametric but hate windows....
  4. Keeping wanting to discover a reason to upgrade my loaded 04 CTT, but can't. I baby it but it gets worked out off-road a fair amount. In town I don't haul *** much. Just the blast off when using tollways, etc. I'm not dropping 20$k to get an iPod or phone setup....
  5. So I changed the oil just BEFORE my Techron regimen. Days before. So now I gotta start completely over? Ugh. Jeff can you give me some advice on the cold start issue? Loren? I'm worried about get stranded on the highway and that ain't fun down here in Texas when it's 105 and feels like 115! My indy took readings of the fuel pressure and it was fine after shutoff. We didn't wait ten minutes though.
  6. I was wondering about Centric. I've used Brembo and Zimmerman up until now. I'm thinking rotors first since my pads aren't worn that much. My previous owner used drilled and slotted rotors but I can't get an idea of manufacturer. I so have casting numbers.
  7. Need to look up in my service records when pads and rotors went on last. PO was super meticulous and have all service records since original purchase in VA 2004 at Tyson's Corner. If anything the rotors look worn. Plenty of pad. I was told to always replace them at the same time so I always do. Fluid was changed about three weeks ago....
  8. Loren shouldn't we get a warning on the dash? That's probably just pads though I'd guess. My brakes pulsate like crazy but there's plenty of pad thickness. No warning either. Maybe my rotors are due.....
  9. I run only the highest octane gas and just did an oil change. The jittery idle drives me crazy just like not starting on the first turn of the key. Brand new spark plugs , battery, coils, new engine torque bar/arm....last shot is a load of this Techron before I seek out a wise PTech and ask for some official help!
  10. Just started adding the 20oz bottle to my tank. My CTT 04 has never had it in it's system. Did it once so far in an attempt to smooth out the jittery idle and the "car never starts on cold start first try" syndrome. I was thinking fuel filter/pump or starter, but a buddy I respect and who has too many Porsche and Ferraris, and Renntech sc'd Benzes recommended I try this first. His line of thinking is the dedicated cold start injector is dirty, hence the unsuccessful first attempt and hitting it on the 2d time. How many times can I safely run Texhron concentrate 20oz bottles through? Directions say every 3k mi.
  11. How deep a dive can you make with A Durametric? IIRC you need a windows machine for their SW.....
  12. Rolled 120k and did service myself. How do I reset my interval warning? THX!!
  13. That is good. I was worried. Btw Loren do you have any info on the oil blow by collecting in the tube/elbow beneath the drivers side intercooler? I've replaced mine once maybe a year back and there is still oil dripping.....and coating EVERYTHING and I mean everything in the vicinity of that elbow! I'm going to have to pull the front off and the radiator out just to clean it all off!
  14. It's occurring when I'm in the slipstream of the vehicle in front of me, about two car lengths ahead. This only happens when it's 102+...
  15. I'm inching past 180F in 102F weather highway driving. Then it drops backs to 180F....I have not touched the coolant since I bought the 04 CTT two summers ago. I have the coolant pipe upgrade. Would new coolant help me keep the Turbo running cool? Just past 120,500 mi....any explanations or hints?
  16. Porsche Underbody Protection Front I6Et I6Ea/6Eq Item: 955.504.285.00 *1 Description: Underbody Protection Front I6Et I6Ea/6Eq Reference numbers: 95550428500, 955 504 285 00, 955-504-285-00 Sunset or Sonnen?
  17. First thing I did when I got the CTT was replace the drivers side plastic elbow beneath the air box with the notoriously failed seal. Mine dumped out a cup or two of blow by.......and has sprayed the drips all up and down the drivers side half of the engine. As I torqued the oilpan bolt I looked up at the open hood past my serpentine belts and pulleys and there's just freakin crusty oil sprayed everywhere- on the front of the engine and all over the elbow/ tubes to and from the turbo on left side. What the f is seeping now? My best guess is this is the cumulative spraying result of 2004-2011, before I bought the CTT. What's my best course of action? I'm super fastidious about my cars. I'm replacing the under body panels b/c the absorbent quilting is so oily. Can't stand that crap all over my engine.......
  18. No spills! I'm so proud. Oil change tomorrow and air filters. W00t!
  19. Got a compressor powered Mityvac. Got fluid, followed directions. Started on right rear then left then front right and finishing at left. I had this vision of really dirty fluid filling the canister from the reservoir and caliper fluid removal. It was darkish. Bleeding the calipers was a bubbly affair, I worked through each wheel and the auxiliary tank drained down as expected. I removed about 40oz as indicated on the Mityvac. Got in car, pumped pedal hard a few times to see what's up, no warning light.....all feels good. How'd I do?
  20. Thanks! I'll search around for more info, and no I don't like dusty, expensive pads. I have never had plain rotors on my M cars, Merz, and this CTT came with drilled rotors on it. No warning lights yet but the shuddering while braking is making me nervous. I'm going to change my brake fluid as well.
  21. Nice. Way. Way cheaper than Brembos or Porsches. Any pad suggestions? Is Pagid in ise by anyone these days or stick with the Porsche pad?
  22. Pricing out the pain on doing my fronts myself, just shy of $700 for everything I need from Suncoast. I'm seeing Brembo and Stoptech plus Zimmerman as alternative rotor choices. Is $700 about right for fronts if I do them? I saw a Meyle/Pagid kit on eBay for half that and recall these brands from my BMWs.....
