  1. There is no need for special tools, an ordinary socket wrench will work.

  3. If the noise is really coming from the gearbox/engine area, the pressure plate diaphragm spring is probably the culprit.
  4. It is a typical Porsche trick, once a part is a couple of years out of production ( and warranty ) the price go's up. If you need a new engine you pay the higher price and they recover a part what they ever have paid in warranties for this type of engine.
  5. 987 build date may 05 should have the new design already.
  6. Just around the whole windscreen, from the painted body over the rubber gasket till the glass of the windscreen.
  7. Are you sure that the noise sounds as an electrical whistle coming from the cluster? Some earlier 997 have a windshield which is not good sealed to the body with a high pitched noise ( wind is blowing through a small hole ) as result. Tape the front windshield complete around with masking tape and do a test drive before you remove the cluster.
  8. No special tools are needed. The kit contains: 1 tubing ( not needed for Cayenne - different design ) 1 cylinder/pressure body inclusive temp. sensor and 1 piston compression segment. Ask the V.W. dealer for an overview of the TB with the rebuild instructions, there is just one tricky point to look at, the exact segment possition on the piston. I can explain it but a image is a lot easier. Removing the compressor from the car is a piece of cake.

  10. FM reception is not the strongest part in the Porsche sound systems. If the windshield is replaced take a look to the wire on the right bottom corner of the windshield for damage. If it looks OK, the antenna amplifier behind the A-pillar trim is a weak point. The radio unit on itself is not the culprit IMHO, he can only use the signals what he receives.
  11. Valve block and compressor are two separate units, valve block failure is rather rare. You can buy a compressor repair set on a Volkswagen dealership for 1/4 price ( VW use the same compressor and sells a repair kit, Porsche don't )
  12. I hope it for you but i'm still curious, just one detail, the bellows is including with a new AOS. Success.
  13. It is not necessary to bleed the Cayenne cooling system, just fill up. I have never seen a special tool to fill a simple system as the Cayenne's have. Radiator replacement is not a 5 minutes job, it is not that simple.
  14. I'm curious, 2 hours is very sharp. Are you sure that the indy will replace the AOS complete and not only the rubber bellows.
  15. OPC cant ( may not ) reset the millage, there are specialized shops to do that if you really want.
  16. No problems, most classic car owners do this, some of them let the suspension hang the whole year round, no load and good for the tyres, no flat spots.
  17. I expected nothing else than a good result if all the terms are gratified, the labour is free as well. Well done, you are owner of a good car now.
  18. MY 99 is equipped with PCM 1, the information and maps are so moderate that a good after market unit will give you more satisfaction IMHO.
  19. Looks strange to me, GPS use US army satellites as info also in Europe. I have got a couple of weeks ago some rebuild PCM units, all with US VIN numbers still programmed, here to build in European cars without problems after reprogramming.
  20. The PCM have to be reprogrammed with a PIWIS tester to Europe specs in a dealership.
  21. Maurice I'm not confident with Durametric but if you can catch actual values mode, select the O2 sensors, watch the Lambda values and the voltage, the have to pending ( engine hot and idling ). If the sensor(s) stay stick on one value and voltage, the sensor or wiring is defective ( P 0160 ) P 1121 is the heating on the same sensor, P 1117 is the heating on a different sensor ( b 2 ). Usually the wiring is OK, sometimes bad contact in the connector, mostly the sensor defective. Good hunting.
  22. Since you have no diagnostic tool to check the codes and values, i would start with cleaning the throttle body and idle valve, despite the fact that the MAF running strange reactions. If the cleaning have no solution, than replace the MAF or let check in a dealership.
  23. Just pull off, starting on the bottom.
  24. All Tiptronic's shifts, depending the driving style and traffic, early till normal. If you ever prefer that the gearbox stays in the same gear and /or shift to your feeling, use the manual mode ( steering wheel buttons )
  25. Integrated in the accelerator pedal or in a box above the pedal ( controlled by a short steel cable )
