  1. The sensor as showed in you picture is located on the camshafts, the opposite side of the timing chains. Bank1/near the water pump, Bank2/near the gearbox.
  2. The wiper have to work always manually when you push the handle, if the wiper is announced to the car system. The wiper can work automatically when the reverse gear is selected, if the wiper is announced and programmed to do that, once programmed in this function, it is no longer possible to disable the automatic function. Looks like the car suffers with a program issue.
  3. Only the complete quantity will give the right specifications, sad.
  4. The rear wiper will work only in reverse, if programmed with PIWIS. Once programmed as ON, there's no way back.
  5. Camshaft position in relation with crankshaft: this fault is common and is caused by a little extension of the timing chain, which is very long, and a small tolerance in timing. It is possible to move the camshafts independent to the crankshaft to reach the timing specifications again, however after checking for any wear on the chain, rails, tensioner, etc. Not a DIY job IMHO.
  6. Is the flexible flap, hanging in front of the filter and attached on the bottom side of the wipers trim, still in place and in good condition? If yes, make a silicon seal between the filter holder and the body, if the water infiltration is localized in that area. The moon roof, very fragile draining tubes, are located in the A-pillars and visible with the inner trim removed, they ended in the upper part of the wheel arch behind the front wheels as a button, not as a tube. You can check them out for cracks as well.
  7. Only the original tape preinstalled on a new sill is strong enough to resist all weather conditions, i have still no found a after market tape with the same qualities. Some amount of front windshield kit can help you out, but TAKE NOTE once the sill is installed with kit, he ( she?) is very difficult to remove.
  8. agochto, MY 2003=996. In your case can help silicone spray on the moving mechanical parts of the spoiler to solve the problem, as Loren said. On the 997 is the problem different.
  9. 1) yes 2) no 3 button remote is for 996 cab. ( ROW ) or later 986. Early 996 and 986 have no electric motors to open the trunk(s) via remote.
  10. The other causes are more radical, try to snap the exact fault code(s).
  11. Change the oil if possible, 20 is too light.
  12. Most frequent causes are: brake light switch and/or faulty MAF.
  13. scalendine is right, except the running engine.
  14. I would check the R134a quantity anyhow, gig.
  15. I think you are on the wrong forum section but to answer your question: Why buying a new unit if you are not sure what the problem is, could be a bad disc or an electrical problem, go to the dealer to read out the fault codes first. At the same time you are there, since the car is MY 06, ask for the warranty ( 2 years ) or at least a commercial intervention. That is the cheapest way to go IMHO.
  16. Let check the battery and the ground point to start with, problems with battery's and grounds can give some strange effects.
  17. The access to the inside is different on 997/987 they use the same system as the Cayenne. You have to remove the trim, than you have to remove the inner part of the door ( panel with the door lock and handle assy, window, window regulator, etc. ) The door is made of two pieces, inner and outer part. Take a look in PET to have a idea.
  18. @ glxtasy The problem with Cayenne corner lights is when one bulb is burned out, the other doesn't work. Change both, they have the same life time anyway. The back up lights problem is linked on the REAR PARKASSIST, there was probably a bad contact in the gearbox switch. @ gjameson The signal bulb holder loose contact in the head light, bend the metal contact plates a little for more pressure and better contact.
  19. Removing the front bumper is not that difficult, it only takes a little of your time. You can change the crest in approx. 30 minutes.
  20. Time to hang the truck on a PIWIS IMHO.
  21. Unfortunately i have no wiring diagram disposal, maybe there is a solution for "contributing members" ?
  22. There will be some communication codes present in the different control box memory's, but nothing showed on the dash display when driving.
  23. The wire is delivered separately with the car, but is a part of the system, in other words one price!!
  24. Dipped-beam means Low-beam, SeattleBum.
