  1. It seems that the engine is "sweating" this is not uncommon, it occurs after many years of use. I would suggest to clean the engine properly in first place, this not only makes it easier to detect the leak it is much cleaner to work on it also. Two advantages in one move.
  2. Richard, you're faster than me.
  3. A single beep is actually no alarm fault but an open zone, lid center console for instance, not properly closed or faulty switch, no OEM radio, etc. Since the car is a ROW check the lift sensor (square box) and siren near the battery for water infiltration.
  4. Interesting, instructive statement and pictures on oil choise and modified lubrication system. However it looks peculiar that in this case, the black casing/shell of the oil filter is not a little distended caused by the high oil pressure.
  5. The knock sensors themselves are not as susceptible to interference, nevertheless it can happen. Most of the time it is a wiring/connector problem, broken wiring, loose connection, short to + or -. Also note damage by rodents.
  6. Engines with a freewheel pulley have plastic rollers, with a fixed pulley they use metal rollers. There may always use a freewheel pulley regardless of the used rollers, not the other way.
  7. Hard to tell here, all values in the range of the specs. give different situations in connection with road handling, load, tire wear, etc. I would start with the right tire choise and an average value of the specs. as camber -1.5 toe 0.8, all this with a full fuel tank. If you can live with these settings, you can go even sharper in the future.
  8. Programming is essentially a Porsche matter, anyway, some diagnostic tools used by independents also provide opportunities.
  9. To my findings, there are more problems with MB than with ZF Tiptronic, i would keep it with ZF.
  10. 14.34V is more than a good result, the load is thus sufficient. Of course still remains the actual condition of the battery and/or maybe a loose connection between alternator and battery (+ or -), a lot of other things as, faulty brake switch, throttle body, MAF, etc. remain possible also.
  11. It is more effective if the voltage is measured when the ABS and/or the battery lights are lit, this works more effectively.
  12. I would erase the codes and see if they come back, try to find a PIWIS to be sure.
  13. 1) Looks as an issue or programming error 2) Issue, probably microswitch in doorlock failure 3) This is a Tiptronic, normal behavior (clutch lock inside torque converter functioning). There is a lot of info on this site about these problems, use the search button on top right of each page.
  14. The compressor is running or not? Try again with the engine running and all doors close to start with, if unsuccessfull take the car for a ride over 120 Km/h.
  15. Normally, the compressor would have to do it without the use of a PIWIS.
  16. The large double relay, in the relay box left and underneath the dashbord, is not always reliable. I would start measuring there, beware there are two types of double relay depending the MY of the car (986).
  17. The key fobs will be more defective, replace and program is the shortest pain in this case.
  18. Its indeed expensive, here slightly less but still http://www.olietekoop.nl/motorolie/product/144
  19. The front emergency cable on 996 and 986 are on the right side of the car, for 997 and 987 on the left side of the car .
  20. We always use Castrol Response DOT4 for normal street use or Castrol RSF for speeders.
  21. http://ecu-rc.nl/?Tid=3 Maybe might these people can help you, and yet not too far from your home.
  22. Radiator stop leak is not a sustainable solution,on the contrary, better locate the leak and repair it. It is maybe only a loose clamp or something.
  23. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/46930-screeching-sound-when-moving-passenger-window/?hl=%2Bwindow+%2Bproblems Please do a search, lots of window problems info here on the site, use the search button right on top of the page.
  24. The pumps in the fuel tank are the first link in the chain, check them manualy on pressure and flow rates. If this turns out to be OK, then check the sensors with Durametric if this feature is available, otherwise use PIWIS.
  25. I can not imagine what the steering column has to do with the cruise control, the switch on the column is a separate part and thus to order and assemble separately. $ 1000 my god.
