  1. No, you need to run the connector open with two open key's.
  2. Pretty normal phenomenon, especially in cold climates and short driving cycles. The same symptoms in the expansion cool water tank are more problematic.
  3. If the carpet behind the seat is wet, there must be a leak, no doubt about that. Do a more intensive check again. The tilt sensor can only turned off with a PIWIS menu PAS-disable tilt sensor, without additional alarm problems like sirens going off etc. The tilt sensor is probably partial filled with rainwater, there is a conversion kit available with the sensor build under the seat. Remove and check also the electric connectors build in the A-pillars, and comming out the doors, for corrosion.
  4. We have got one 997-1 with red (S) calipers in the past with overheated front calipers while normal driving, after examination of the complete brake system, inclusive ABS unit, we decided in consultation with the factory, to replace both front calipers which have solved the problem.
  5. Nice , txhokie4life well done. I hope you have enjoyed it.
  6. Just put a sticker on the radio where the wire contact point hits the radio, so that the alarm can protect the unit against theft again.
  7. What have you done with the wire connected on the side of the single DIN holder?
  8. If you remove the plastic inner wheel well, you can see and feel the conector on the back side of the headlight, check for proper fitment and contact, wiggle a little with the connector ( with headlights on ) and look if the bulbs comes in.
  9. Andres, Unfortunately i'm not confident with the Durametric tool, i don't know what the tool can do or not, i used only the factory standard PIWIS with a lot more options. Sorry about that, i hope you can pin point the problem.
  10. You got absolute right about that jpflip, #23 is adjustment and #25 is lift.
  11. Do you have no 10 mm key in the toolbox or somewhere to remove the service cover behind the seats? It's all you need after all. Without removing the cover and potentially the poly-V belt, to take a look and check, it remains a mystery IMHO.
  12. As Loren mentioned, non of the 3 wires visible in the pic, are standard.
  13. Great to hear the mechanism is OK. I would check the bank 1 values to compare with the bank 2 values, perhaps there is a voltage drop somewhere in the wiring or connectors, the solenoids are DME related.
  14. Let check the system to be sure, and ask a price quote for the repair first. Success.
  15. Looks like a blocked adjustment mechanism in the cylinder head rather than a faulty solenoid.
  16. It takes some time to get the water cooled alternator out of the car, especially Turbo, the engine can stay in place but there are lots of parts to remove. I replaced two alternators with noise problems ( too much lateral play on the rotor ) never with power problems, as wvicary suggest.
  17. The first service after delivery from new, with the service reminder reset at delivery, is still 30.000Km/20.000miles or 2 years. 3.000miles is not included in the ROW Europe service manual ( A market ), but it does no harm to change the oil/filter within a shorter period if you like. Wink: DFI engines prefer 5W-50 engine oil to reduce oil consumption. ;)
  18. Minor maintenance Cayenne/S/Turbo A markets ( depending fuel quality ): 30.000 - 90.000 - 150.000 - 210.000 Km. 20.000 - 60.000 - 1000.000 - 140.000 miles Change engine oil and filter + approx. 15 points to check ( in fact the same as gen. 1 ) Major maintenance: 60.000 - 120.000 - 180.000 - 240.000 Km. / 40.000 - 80.000 - 120.000 - 160.000 miles Change oil and filter/replace interior particle filter + approx. 23 points to check. Additional maintenance: Replace spark plugs: V6=60.000Km/40.000miles or every 4 years - V8S: 90.000Km/60.000miles or every 4 years - V8T: 60.000Km/40.000miles or every 4 years Every 90.000Km/60.000miles or 6 years replace poly-V belt - replace PDCC reservoir ( optional ) Every 120.000Km/80.000miles or every 4 years: replace air cleaner elements. Every 240.000Km/160.000miles or every 16 years: all wheel final drive - rear final drive - transfer box - manual transmission - change oil - Tiptronic - change ATF + filter Every 2 years: change brake fluid Every 4 years: replace tyre sealant After 4 years, the every 2 years: check/change TPM system battery's After 10 years, then every 2 years: check airbag operation and condition ( special operation ) Hope it helps.
  19. Was the car parked on a hill, without the handbrake fully pulled first, before the P was engaged? The weight of the ( moving slightly ) car can give too much mechanical pressure on the lock system inside the Tiptronic, if the car is not hold by the handbrake first.
  20. Cayenne S and Turbo have the same rear disc measure = 330 mm diameter.
  21. I would remove the rear bumper ( not that difficult ) instead of making a hole in it, beside of that, what's removed can not been damaged during engine replacement.
  22. 1/ Do you have the PCM3 with telephone option? 2/ Do you receive a message "enter sim-card"? If the answer is 1/ yes 2/ no a visit to the dealer's PIWIS is recommended.
  23. Take note that the values suggested by whall concerns all M 96 engines, in other words all water cooled flat 6 engines till MY 08, MA 101 and MA 102 flat 6 DFI engines have a complete new design, inclusive oil circuit, pump, oil pressure and volume, controlled by the DME, which is called " electronic demand controlled oil pump". Depending the input values for engine speed, load, oil temperature and the expected change in engine speed the control valve possition is defined using a map in the DME. To make it a little more clear, for example: driving with the engine warm at 3.000 RPM in city traffic, the pressure needle reach 4 bar, you leave the city road and takes the ( flat ) high way, with the same RPM, the load will be less after a certain time, the needle drops till 2 bar. In similar circumstances the engine got no need on high oil pressure or volume, they have done this to safe fuel ( less power loss ) So don't panic, 997 gen.2 owners, if you ever take notice of this phenomenon. In case of doubt, contact your dealer. Hope it helps.
  24. Thank you all for the confidence, i hope to help the staff, and you all, out of mechanical and electronic trouble as much as possible, so fire your questions, and Happy New Year to you all. RFM
  25. As far as i know was this a part of an option called "Porsche Traction Management Plus" available since October 2003 ( MY 04 ). I can be wrong because nobody got this option over here, limited market and no real off road costumers.
