  1. Read the fault codes first, could be the lock/control box more than the micro switches.
  2. Reading too much is too confusing, fill the engine up with approved oil to the specified level and check for noise. If the noise is still there, let check the engine in a dealership or independent.
  3. Since you ordered a new AOS, i would replace him anyway, and recheck for smoke after a day or two. At the same time, clean the throttle body and intake manifold as good as possible from oil residues.
  4. Let check (replace) the mirror adjustment control switch as well, since a switch manipulation solves (temporarily) your problem.
  5. The sensor is located between cylinder 5 and 6 ( passenger side LHD car) on top of the cylinder head. Remove the shield in front of the spark plugs, bend an open 19 mm key to 90° to remove and install the sensor.
  6. You got it right, a new window regulator is needed to help you out.
  7. Time to hook up the car on a PIWIS tester, without fault codes, it's still a guess.
  8. Iporsche The P0021 fault is not the cause of a non started engine, must be something else.
  9. I don't know what it is, but the wiring looks messy and is not exactly a original factory install.
  10. It should be much easier if you know what kind of oil it was, transmission, engine or ATF, and where exactly the leak is. A leaking ATF oil pan seal is always possible.
  11. Sequential racing gearboxes are, and works, complete different than PDK. The only equation is sequential shifting, but the Tiptronic do the same and is, again another different system. The currently used PDK is even not able to manage the high torque of the Turbo.
  12. Looks like the micro switch in the trunk lock is faulty, this is common. The switch is available separately. Do a search on the board here for DIY.
  13. Correct Richard, it happen once in a while, Tiptronics are specific in trouble shouting concerning cooling issues. It is by the way the cheapest and quickest way to go, to check this out first, no parts needed, just a lift and 10 minutes of your time.
  14. Sounds like Tiptronic cool water/oil exchanger problem. The water valve is vacuum controlled, in normal temps. and driving conditions the exchanger is shut off (vacuum on the valve). In case of 1) leaking vacuum tube 2) defective valve membrane 3) defective solenoid or electric wiring, the exchanger (receives no longer vacuum) is now always active in the engine cooling system, the engine will run 20°C cooler. If the engine runs too cold as programmed, after a long drive, the red lamp comes in as "implausible signal". Let this check first, before changing the thermostat, temp. sensor, etc.
  15. I have heard in May 08 that all regular M96 engines are replaced by MA engines, but it was still in 08, times are different now. I check it out when i visit the after sales dept. next spring.
  16. bogein lives in Norway juniinc, perhaps he have to take some ferry's at it's way to the dealership.
  17. Only technically spoken, the alternator will charge the battery at idle. Unfortunately this procedure is not good for the engine health, better is to take the car out for a 10 miles drive once a week, if you can't use a battery tender.
  18. The Tiptronic memory is readable with the Porsche PIWIS tester and probably with DURAMETRIC diagnostic tool, the CEL is engine and environment related and have nothing to do with the gear box. You can buy a DURAMETRIC tool, visit the web side for instructions and possibilities.
  19. Open the soft top till the service possition is reached and pull off the retaining cables on the left and right rear quarter of the top. Lift the rear part with the glass straight ahead, remove the carpet and you will find the bolts of the struts under the isolation textile inside the car, above the rear wheels. Hope it helps.
  20. The Tiptronic memory can be read out, that is the first thing to do. If the memory contains no fault codes, you can in consultation with a specialised shop, change the ATF to start with and decide what further action have to be taken.
  21. There is no steel cable on the E-Gas throttle body, Tiptronic or manual. Some early MY's have a short steel cable from the accelerator pedal to the pedal possition sensors.
  22. Check the coils for cracks, and change them all if cracked. It can save you misery.
  23. Try with a new or well known worked magazine first, if no result, let the changer repair.
  24. The A.C. (on) demand a extra load from the engine, the idle RPM should be adjusted by the DME. Perhaps there is something wrong with the throttle body, the O-ring behind the body or the rubber intake tube from air filter to body (poorly connected) as wross996TT suggest. If you cant find nothing wrong, a visit to the dealer is the only way to go.
  25. Parts damaged by road debris or third parties are not covered by the warranty, you can try a agreement to obtain with the BOSCH dealer.
