  1. I don't know if Prestone coolant is compatible with Porsche coolant, but mixing should be avoided in any case.
  2. One of the reasons "check engine" light will come on, you can read out the fault code with a diagnostic tool, which tell you "Misfires on cyl. 1 or 2 or 3 or ...... or random.
  3. A battery maintainer (as showed in the pics.) may during long periods attached to the car via the cigarette lighter, without problems.
  4. They are known to fail with strange behavioural effect.
  5. Have you already checked the ignition and/or light switch ?
  6. They "pop" off, you can use two flat screwdrivers, a door trim clip disposer fork, or similar tool.
  7. The phone antenna/connector/wiring perhaps. The antenna is an integrated element in the "Diversity antenna's" and should be located under the rear roof spoiler cover. You can find the exact cause by using the PIWIS diagnostic tool.
  8. All 4 sensors faulty at the same time is very uncommon, i would suspect the MAF.
  9. 987 and 987S shares the same M96 engine design, it makes no difference in that case.
  10. 997/987 headlights are part the front control box comfort system via CAN. Check the headlight connector for proper fitting to start with, if no avail, let the system check with a PIWIS diagnostic tool.
  11. The characters A.T. (AUS TAUSCH = Exchange ) are part of the engine number.
  12. Faulty lifters (MY04) do not make noise if the lifter is blocked in the full lift possition.
  13. Yes they do, one pressure line and one return line.
  14. My wife's 2006 987 (Europe) airbags are not smarter than the previous Boxsters, the only difference is the possibility to order or install a passenger airbag deactivation lock with the ignition key MY2005> instead of the earlier bar <MY2004 986. A smart aibag has a pressure (weight) sensor build in the seat cushion.
  15. What do you think about a bad valve lifter? Do or let do a cylinder leak test to check it out.
  16. Looks like Pentosin power steering fluid leak to me.
  17. The AOS bellows is visible and replaceable with the AOS in place, manual transmission is easier accessible than Tiptronic.
  18. The light should come on when opening each door, check this first. If the light does not come on, check the light unit and the wiring.
  19. And don't forget the pressure cap as well (updated version)
  20. 9 years is a respectable age for coolant tanks, which are well known for their cracks. I would change the tank at the same time anyway.
  21. If your car is equipped with clear lenses, amber bulbs suffice.
  22. Is there no OEM park assist present in your car? If yes, someone with a PIWIS tool can change the program choice to "Trailer hitch present" The distance measurement between a obstacle and the car will extend with the length of the hitch. I wonder if the car's factory towing system is still functioning since 6 volt is never used.
  23. Please use the search function on top and type "coolant flush" in, there is a lot of info available.
  24. Turbo fuel pumps takes more Amps. on full boost than on idle or partial load, the problem becomes worse with the age. We have got problems with a brand of satellite track system which use the pump currant as fuel cut in case of theft, the sat. track control box connector was melted every time the car(s) was on the race track under approx. continuous full boost, never under normal driving conditions. A pump replacement was the solution, the line between the fuse/wiring/pump under full load looks very thin. Hope it's helps.
  25. Definitely more than one DIY available (986/996 which have the same procedure), please use the search function on the board first.
