  1. Push a flat screwdriver between the damper adhesive base plate and the brake pad to come loose of the pad, pull the base plate rearwards in the cylinders. No other issues than noise will appear without dampers.
  2. That's the problem, Cayenne's use different electronic systems as 997 TT and generation-2.
  3. There is a DIY on the board to recover the noisy uni ball in the track arm, 996 or 986 forum, do a search. It's for sure the cheapest solution.
  4. Be sure they are dead, especially on high engine revs.
  5. It work easier with the plastic plate removed, the switch is located on the gearbox side, follow the wiring.
  6. PIWIS settings are likely to a complete Cayenne LED conversion (front and rear), i may be wrong.
  7. A Tiptronic oil and filter change is a must to start with, black colored transmission oil is in most cases also burned. Let check at the same time the present fault codes.
  8. The white part in your pic is the (broken) ball joint which is mounted on top of the left rod (with the yellow arrow) and connected to the top mechanism in the B-pillar area when closed.
  9. Cayenne voltage output is approx. 12V (or battery voltage), there is no factory installed device which increase or decrease tension.
  10. There is a steel material inside the stock rubber brake lines to prevent excessive expansion (one of the reasons why you must never compress the lines with a clip, vise grip or something similar), but have nothing to do with the real steel brake lines of a good brand (racing), which are a lot better in case of expansion and have a better result in pedal travel/pressure.
  11. The mufflers can stay in place during the cat replacement without problems.
  12. The door locks are plug and play, they contains only a mechanism, electric solenoid and micro switch, no electronics to program. The door locks are updated several times during the production, look out for that. Older European 986 without remote, with optional remote and the first generation with remote have different connectors.
  13. I don't think RHD door locks will fit on LHD vehicles, cause the key cylinder lock connection portal is on the opposite side. Exchange of parts between US and Europe vehicles are possible as long the cars are LHD. I fear that you have done a wrong purchase.
  14. Even without steering action, it's the PDCC part of the pump which is noisy.
  15. Probably the tandem (double action power steering/PDCC)) hydraulic pump, this is a common issue. Check the Pentosin level in the power steering tank, on the left rear side of the engine room (the usual place), and the Pentosin level in the PDCC tank under the black plastic trim behind the power steering tank (not visible with the trim in place). If the levels are OK, contact OPC to take a look, it is not recommended to replace the pump by yourself without correct instructions.
  16. Is the car equipped with the optional PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) ??
  17. I never seen 18/24V on a Cayenne with factory installed towing system, you will be mistaken.
  18. dr7966 After the symptoms you describe, i would wait with the AOS replacement: Stumbling engine and a slight vacuum is normal. A slight oil film in the intake manifold/AOS tube is normal. A puff of blue and white smoke from the drivers side exhaust ( = the opposite cylinder bank = bank 2 ) points out an other problem, in case of AOS problems blue smoke comes from BOTH exhausts, cause the AOS failure (oil in the intake manifold) is a CENTRAL problem.
  19. If the car is equipped with Sport Chrono+ you can set lap times independent of nav.system. The used parameters are distance and time, included in main menu Tripcomputer, submenu Sport.
  20. The oil leak from the RMS will destroy the clutch in time, it's your decision.
  21. The broken part is a simple Allen bold which hold the spoiler bottom to the shaft. The bold is treated with Locktight and is sometimes hard to remove, looks like someone ruined the bold head.
  22. US cars use different door locks as well. The US alarm control box, keys and door locks are specific. If you want to change to EUROPE, replace all this items.
