  1. No need for database or whatsoever for this, a little German can help, the letters AT in the engine # stand for "AUS TAUSCH" which is "EXCHANGE". Two years warranty is a standard on factory rebuild engines.

  3. Since the car is RHD, a lot will be different than US/EURO LHD cars. I would take a look on a UK forum for faster and more detailed info.
  4. Piece of cake, remove the nut on the link-rod/sway bar connection and screw the link-rod out of the shock absorber (nut is weld in the shock absorber body)
  5. If you cant open/close the door manually with the key, it means that the connecting rod between the lock cylinder and the door lock is broken or poorly placed by a earlier door lock replacement which is a typical DIY error. Remove the inner door trim (instructions on the board) to take a look at it. The electronic issue is probably a bad remote.
  6. Some (ROW) Cayenne versions have automatic on/off low beams, the sensor is located behind the rear view mirror, on the same spot as 996/997 rain sensor, the Cayenne sensor is double functional light/dark and rain, cause they command the wiper speed also, Cayenne have also a different light switch with an extra possition named "AUTO". Perhaps you can have a larger view on parts, wiring and how to do, if you can arrange a Cayenne electric diagram.
  7. A little off topic, wvicary, but the newer TPMS system on Cayenne MY 08, believe it or not, react in yards.
  8. Battery life theoretical: 80 month / practically: approx. 48 month before weird faults start showing up once in a while. PIWIS diagnostic tool can help you out.
  9. Please do a search, it is discussed here (including pics. + solution) in the 986 forum a while ago, the foam is glued on the perforated metal air mix flap inside the unit and became porous by age. You can expect hot/cold air mix problems in a short time from now.
  10. It can take approx. 10 Km (6/7 miles) on a 997/1, if not, a PIWIS tool is recommended.
  11. If the tension roller is still in good condition, nothing should be removed.
  12. Yes, the VW repair kit contains the sensor, build in the compressor body. You have to reuse the air lines from the old body cause the VW connections are not the same. Ask for a VW diagram, the exact possition of the compression ring on the piston is crucial.
  13. I would check the DME relay, fuel pump relay and fuses to start with. A quick check with a good diagnostic tool is recommended too, fault codes are crucial for a good and reliable diagnosis.
  14. There is no solution if you want to upgrade the exhaust and keep the stock PSE usable at the same time, you can go for an aftermarket sport exhaust, which are always loud. The SPORT button keeps preserving the other functions as normal.
  15. PSE flaps are integrated in the mufflers, which are different in construction (especially inside) than the stock ones.
  16. An open key is an ordinary key, looks like a wrench >> :wrench: fits on the tensioner hexagonal body, which is the pivot point, to slacken the tensioner (# 17 on "wvicary" diagram) It is not necessary to disconnect the coolwater tube to replace the belt.
  17. The connectors could be different also.
  18. The same way as 996, there are no other parts to remove, slacken the tensioner with a big open key, remove and replace the belt.
  19. The park brake shoes spring is hold by the hub housing, if i'm not mistaken.
  20. The "S" is approx. the same (NOT for TURBO), just a little more lack on room, make a drawing of the belt routing before replacing, it will make it easier to find out in case of doubt.
  21. 987: wheel front wheel rear tyre front tyre rear 6.5J x 17 ET 55 8J x 17 ET 40 205/55 ZR 17 235/50 ZR 17 8J x 18 ET 57 9J x 18 ET 43 235/40 ZR 18 265/40 ZR 18 8J x 19 ET 57 9.5J x 19 ET 46 235/35 ZR 19 265/35 ZR 19 18" and 19" are factory and EURO regulations approved with 5 mm spacers and matching wheel bolts.
  22. The lock solenoid react in some cases only with the remote not with the key. Since your car suffers with a central locking problem, you have to check the relevant fault codes with a diagnostic tool. Meanwhile you can remove the lever trim by loosing both deep seated allen screws (behind the tabs) and disconnect the solenoid from the lever unit.

  24. You are correct, Paul. The screws hold the bracket/protection in place which prevented the infiltration of the rain flap, during driving, and block off the A/C air stream.
  25. Start checking the fuel lines and connectors on the left side of the engine, besides/downwards the coolant tank above the left fuel rail. You can easily follow the fuel lines till the front of the car. Success.
