  1. The cats with sensor control (regular) are pre - cats and can not be replaced by a delete pipe: 1) environment values not longer realisable 2) an error code is put. The secondary cats (irregular) auxiliary, can be replaced by delete pipes with no error code set and EURO 4 norm narrowly realisable. I have no idea concerning US operative environment values.
  2. I understand from your story that some component is fallen inside the door, in this case the door trim must be removed to get full access.
  3. Through the engine bloc into the oil sump, under the intake manifold.
  4. Two beeps means an alarm issue, let the car check on fault codes first, without codes it's guessing.
  5. Check also if the brittle plastic oil filler tube is not damaged, that happens sometimes when replacing the starter.
  6. Is the rattle still there with the roof in tilted possition ? If not, the rectangular roof trim is the culprit (rattle with roof closed). If yes, the roof cross-member, under the headliner, behind the roof unit is detached from the roof plate (hollow drum sound)
  7. Remapping or performance chips have only a reasonable effect on turbo charged Porsche engines, concerning price/extra HP-torque. Applied to standard atmospheric engines (M96/97) is it just to make money, the difference in HP and/or torque is hardly noticeable in practice on public roads IMHO.
  8. Demolition yard? Sunset Imports? must be found somewhere.
  9. The strips are delivered with the system, a small chance that you can buy them separately, as far i know Porsche. Contact a dealer to be sure.
  10. The main ground wire (thick) goes from the engine to the car body, put a long jumper cable directly from the engine to the battery negative (ground). If the starter engage as it should now, you have a ground problem, if the problem persist, check the starter main power connection or complete starter.
  11. These symptoms are often linked to the brakes, pads/rotors. I would check that out first.
  12. water leaks into rear storage compartment Hope it helps
  13. Hard to say, but it seems more than a loose heat shield to me. I would start with rotating the crankshaft manually and good listen where the noise is coming from, and feel at the same time, if the crankshaft turns smoothly without any resistance on the full rotation.
  14. As mentioned in Loren's post above: 1) IPAS (dealer) 2) PIWIS (dealer) 3) BARCODE (customer ??). If you can have these items, than you can do it yourself, if not a dealer or independent can help you out.
  15. If it is not possible to remove the disc without damaging the PCM inside, remove and disassemble the unit, or visit an audio specialist which is probably the most safest way.
  16. 1) You have posted in the 987/1 (Boxster) forum, do not expect a lot of response. 2) I understand that the car is a MY06 Cayenne, with PCM 2.1 DVD navi. drive (under the passenger seat) and audio CD slot on top of the PCM unit, so where exactly have you put the CD in? 3) A manual is recommended, given the problems that you have (see also your previous post)
  17. Battery protection, the system shut off power to prevent excessive battery drain.
  18. A recalibration should be done with a PIWIS diagnostic tool and a specific amount of fuel in the tank, Turbo and C4 Porsche's are sensitive to this issue by their specific tank/sender construction. The best way to prevent this issue is, after recalibration, always fill, the almost empty, tank up with a large amount of fuel. If for example the tank still contains only 10 liter of fuel, top up till full, never fill a small number of liters (5 or 10 liter) the sensor and the calculator will go wrong. Fill the tank with the engine and the ignition off.
  19. It's a fact that the front airbag sensors are located under/in front of the head light frames left and right, anyway, i've never heard a story like yours, the sensor can be triggered, in case of accident, but the airbag should have a confirmation from the control box to go off, in other words, the impact should by strong enough. If i were you, i let read out/check the car with a PIWIS.
  20. Usually these things will crack after time by harder than normal pedal pressure, caused by a worn clutch assembly, or after an intervention, clutch partial replacement etc., a incorrect setting of the self compensating pressure plate (997)
  21. The build in membrane will leak internally after a few years.
  22. I understand that the CEL is caused by misfires, however it does not explain that the CEL is lit after standstill with the key in the ignition, unless it is a coincidence. I would check the car with a PIWIS tool, especially the potential misfires and replaced the coils and plugs ASAP. The rest of the maintenance list can be done later on inclusive the serpentine belt at 90.000 Km. Take note that a belt replacement is not on the list, only a check, you must ask it by yourself and is very important to prevent issues.
  23. From MY03 are the exhaust manifold bolts better quality and much easier to remove for all M96 engines, it's a consolation.
  24. You are right about that, similar systems are also included with cylinder leak test device, most of the forum users are enthusiasts and have not the experience and tools, experience is the mean part of knowledge, to work on engines as a pro. Any intervention seems simple at a forum but it is unfortunately not, they not always see the potential consequences of their, well meaning, interference. A shop manual and the right tools are essential and the absolute minimum to help compensate the lack of experience. If it was all so easy, mechanics and workshops were then no longer necessary.
  25. 1) Water Pump 2) Replace 3) Yes 996 (left side) in driving direction.
