  1. The ends with a nut, the rest with plastic clips (pull off).
  2. The error could lie in the programming as well, is this ever checked with a PIWIS ?
  3. It's the best option you could take, after all IMHO.
  4. It's not a OEM part, find out where it is connected to, perhaps a radar detector wire or something.
  5. Are there no modifications done on the car concerning day time driving lights ?
  6. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/35337-cam-timing-i-goofed/ Take a look here, por986, it's pretty much the same engine.
  7. At the end of the lock cylinder should be a connection part which looks like an oar or a scull from a rowing boat, which should enter in to the slotted hole of the door lock, probably this is not the case or broken. I would check that first.
  8. It will rather be a M7 bit, as far as i can remember.
  9. I would find the reason way they always break, instead of always replacing, warranty or not, this situation is highly unusual IMHO.
  10. Take a better look, this bolts are not TORKX but 12 point star (triple square in your language ?), hope they are still in good condition.
  11. For the 997 Porsche recommends to replace the pressure plate and the disc together (as a unit), because an automatic, disc thickness, compensation system makes part of the pressure plate, in other words, the thickness of the disc must match with the pressure plate adjustment. I would have a talk again with my dealer.
  12. I would check the tires first, general condition, brand, dimensions, etc. and if possible, use the wheels of a similar car and do a test drive.
  13. Good chance that the pressure plate is cracked, you will need to build out the gearbox to have a better view on the problem.
  14. It does any harm if you go for a second opinion, anyway, Turbo and GT3 engines produce more timing related noises than Carrera M96-97 engines.
  15. The reason is the filling procedure, 40° Celsius. It's wiser, while you drain the TIP. from hot, to let cool down the gearbox till 40° C. than warming the TIP. up till 40° C. with lack of ATF.
  16. All 996 cars use a dual mass flywheel as a standard, if you can hear the rattling gears loudly, check the flywheel first. If you don't have a dual mass flywheel, as you stated, than is it rather normal.
  17. @ tanny02996, in your case it's only a program item, the control box can be programmed doors open at the same time with the trunk, or only the trunk open. ( ROW-Euro )
  18. Let check the comfort settings as well, who would ever bother.
  19. If you mean the resonance chamber in the air filter box, this is just for environmental reasons (noise) K & N filters and silicon hoses gives little or no advantage, only a special intake manifold and air filter box, chip, possibly with headers and exhaust is worth it IMHO.
  20. 997 and others use power when not in use (parked), the standard battery is just sufficient for daily driving. Small gel cell batteries are better suited for track cars.
  21. Launch control is only possible if the car is equipped with a PDK transmission, and than optionally. Never with a Tiptronic.
  22. Strictly speaking it is not necessary if the engine temp. act still as it should, however, after 10 years i would have done it to be sure, it's not much more work and not expensive.
  23. V®6 and V8 Cayenne engines use both maintenance free timing chains, however, the V®6 is well known for a stretching chain, which you can not hardly prevent. An annual oil and filter change, or max. 20.000 Km (whichever comes first) with a recommended oil weight and brand, does any harm IMHO.
  24. A light/rain sensor failure can happen once in a while, if you are sure the car is equipped with, use a PIWIS diagnostic tool and check the programming and fault codes.
  25. There were water penetration problems with the tilt sensor mounted near the battery, therefore is a kit available, sensor and wiring, to move the tilt sensor under the driver seat ( Europe LHD cars)
