  1. There are 3 micro switches on each door to be correct, 1 on outside handle, 1 on inside handle and 1 inside the door lock. The one build in the door lock is the most vulnerable in the system.
  2. Offset is possible on a very limited distance for security reasons. Focus only on a stretched chain is not a good idea on M96/97 and Cayenne V6 engines (see my comment at the top of this topic.)
  3. Unfortunately i have the specific values not in mind, the notes are transferred to my colleagues. Anyway, the info provided on engine type, DME, engine history (what's happen), engine check on? etc. is insufficient or non existent for a specific to the point answer. We used the special timing tools to check how much the timing was off and deciding what needs to be checked/repaired/replaced, variocam-chain-guides-etc., after the intervention using the tools made the timing right. Hope it helps.
  4. If the car is still equipped with a brake switch on top of the brake pedal, replace the switch. It will solve a big part of your problems. If there is no switch, a visit to the dealer's PIWIS is recommended.
  5. Have you already cleaned the throttle body? I would start with that.
  6. Yes ninsei, the cigarette lighter is the spot used by OEM battery maintainer, with the doors locked (remote control)
  7. You have to replace the cable start motor-alternator-connection (on the gearbox) in first place, the rubber cable cap is melted on the start motor solenoid connector. It's a common problem on 997/1.
  8. Make sure that the fuse terminals are clean and free of corrosion, in the front and the rear, check/swap out the fuel pump relay. I assume there are no traces of a kill switch/power interrupter switch, which was installed and removed poorly in the past. The best thing is to check (measurements) what's happen, the moment the problem occurs.
  9. Looks like a broken spring, you will have to remove the trim to take a look what's happen inside.
  10. Usually on 3.2 Carrera, the DME relay near the control box under the seat will go bad, in second place check the crankshaft sensor *** well.
  11. Only the electronic related part of the PSE is diagnosed, it remains important to check the mechanical parts as well. EOBD (OBD II) is a help, not a cure all.
  12. MY 2005 987 Boxster front parking lights are located in to the front bumper light units, same spot as the fog lights (clear glass section). A Philips screwdriver should be sufficient.
  13. Sometimes happens that the low beams are not functioning, in this case only the park lights are on, and they looks, of course, very dim. I would check that first.
  14. According to the information you provide, it resembles an oil (pressure) related problem. Something as a lifter or oil pressure valve, as the noise comes and goes and is not stable under all conditions. I would use a 5W - 50 oil, new oil filter and maintain the oil on the indicated full level to start with, i would also decide in favor, for an annual oil + filter change, if you do mostly short trips an low mileage.
  15. +1 for the gear oil, service?, type? and level?. Hope there is no short shifter installed, this makes it even worse under cold conditions.

The European Fuel Quality Directive(1) introduces a new market petrol across the European Union from 1st January 2011 that may contain up to 10% (by volume) ethanol (E10). For vehicles equipped with a spark-ignition (petrol) engine introduced into the EU market, this list indicates their compatibility with E10 petrol which complies also with the EN 228: 2008() volatility limits. You will find Porsche approvals on page 3.
  17. I have seen some Cayenne with a kind of mosquito wire, directly behind the front middle en side cooling vents, as protection. Anyway, it looks ugly and is only usable in warmer climates, the air flow will be obstruct by snow in colder climates with consequences for overheating etc. Unfortunately i have no safe solution to this problem, maybe others do.
  18. The only option is to replace disc and press. plate. Since the original possition of the press. plate (pressure part versus diaphragm) was not marked before removing, you can not exactly find what the previous possition was.
  19. I was on the understanding that it was a manual gearbox, Tiptronics have a limited amount of slip. Anyway, let the car check at a reputable workshop to be sure.
  20. With the few information you give, it looks like a defective clutch assy. Let it checked ASAP to avoid additional costs.
  21. Looks like the cover of the lock emergency release system.
  22. I assume the button which is soldered on the circuit card, trey to find a faulty remote 986 or 996, the buttons are all the same. Swap them out, it's very easy to do with a decent soldering iron.
  23. Given the first time that a scan take place and the MIL does not light, it can be events from the past. I would erase the memories and recheck later on.
  24. The hood work the same way, if the light stays on inside the trunk after closing the hood, caused by a missing/faulty or poorly installed micro switch, the systems act as zone open, in this specific example the hood, a single beep will be heard.
  25. If the fan work properly, it would be sufficient for normal use (road traffic), in the pits, after a track event, you can always open the engine lid for a quicker cool down if necessary.
