  1. Remove the air filter box, alternator and throttle body (make it easier and create more room). The oil filler pipe is bolted on the top of the engine block (2 bolts). Parts needed: 1 x O - ring and 1 x oil filler pipe. Success.
  2. The problem is that only months after, the damage become apparent like cylinder heats, water pump, etc. eaten away by chemical influences. Costs can be expensive in most cases.
  3. Unlike the 996/986, where the emergency cable is connected directly to the lock mechanism, 997/987 cable is connected (simply bound) to the solid plastic sheath(conducting) of the electric motor - cable unit, which is operated by the release button inside the car. If the emergency cable is pulled, the fracture risk of the sheath(conducting) is approx. 80%, then obviously a new unit must be placed. If you indicate as the door is open, why not plug power in to the cigarette lighter with a battery maintainer or something similar?

COLETA 1) HC 20 - 100 ppm / CO 0,01 - 0,03 / CO² 15% - 16% / O² 0,1 2) Exhaust tip 3) Hot engine, idle + 3.000 RPM with slightly varying values 4) Abnormal values may indicate cat problems when used together with a digital temp. gauge and PIWIS in "ACTUAL VALUES" mode. The specified values refers always to stock engines, DME and cats, and may vary depending on the generation of the used DME and pollution standards EURONORM 3 - 4 - or 5. This simple verification process takes just 5 minutes longer than the usual procedure, it can be performed at the same time with the PIWIS and hot running engine, provides a quick and reliable diagnosis. Of course, knowledge and experience are necessary to diagnose, because it is not just to read date from a sheet. WVICARY Indeed, normally the engine should trow misfire codes on the respective cylinder bank in first place, but well, we were finally not there and can only assume.;) :cheers:
  5. MY 2005 (997) should have already PCM 2.1 IMHO.
  6. Cleaning and lubrication is at best a temporary solution IMHO.
  7. wvicary, Faulty cats are more common over here, partial melted and broke as well, and have only two years warranty :angry: . In all cases of engine codes (PIWIS), misfires, etc. we did a supplementary quick cat test as following, four exhaust gas test HC - CO -CO² - O² on both banks, using the left - right difference values to detect anomaly's, followed by a cat temp test with a digital temp tester, the output side should be 50°C hotter than the input if the cat is still in good shape. Damage to the cat should be already, serious before a specific code appears.
  8. It is true that Porsche demands a vehicle readout, performed with a PIWIS and send on line, before it may be started with some work under warranty terms. If this is not possible due to circumstances may a problem arise, although soluble, they can claim the DME to read out much more in detail than a dealer can do with a PIWIS. Hope the DME is still stock in this case. Anyway it's not certain that the engine is lost, a failing fuel pump is also possible, think positive, the show is not over until the fat lady sings.;)
  9. If you disassembled the rear protection you will see more, could be a leak in the power steering tube.
  10. Original Porsche coolant can be mixed, green (older) and pink newer). A mixture of several different brands and types may be problematic and not worth the risk.
  11. Under normal circumstances, the belt can stay 90.000 Km or 5 years on the engine. The following points should be observed: wear and/or damage to the grooved pulleys, condition of the rollers - smoothly and without any play, operation of the automatic tension system, wear of excessive play on water pump, power steering pump, AC compressor, etc., operation of the AC pump + electromagnetic clutch, freewheel pulley alternator if installed, proper belt install - alignment. Given the respectable number of miles on the car, i do expect some wear.
  12. Unlikely that an oil change will help, although i think that in some cases when no error codes are present, which indicates an electrical/mechanical related issue, the problem can caused by a specific type of contamination inside the Tiptronic. There is always a new valve block, filter and oil change procedure performed according to the manufacturer's instructions. I do not know of anyone has experimented with a special cleaning action ATF oil additive.
  13. The cable adjustment mechanism is located under the shifter, if you are not familiar with the system, lack on tools (adjustment tool), is it cheaper to have it done at the end, it takes only 15 minutes for someone with knowledge.

  16. If you have completely finish the list inclusive PIWIS diagnostic/program tool, with no avail, then the problem must be inside the unit.
  17. Allu. pipes are replacement parts on Cayenne V8 up to MY 2006 to the well known crack problem, for some obscure reason they made the cooling pipes back in plastic, smaller and different in design by the direct injection system lay out inside the V, at the height of the cylinder heads.

  19. Best is to pressure test the cooling system, in cold condition and in warm condition. Anyway, MY 2008 Cayenne V8 should have a DI engine with plastic coolant pipes, indeed with different design.

  21. There is a fuse located on the back of the PCM also, i would try with a reboot first. Disconnect both battery terminal cables from the battery, connect them to each other with the help of a jumper cable for about 15 minutes or so, reconnect the cables on the battery and try again. If no avail, check the PCM fuse on the back, if the the fuse is still OK, a PIWIS tool is recommended for further investigation.
  22. OAS + hoses, oil filler hose, left to right bank breather hose, hose connectors, oil level dipstick tube, etc.
  23. That is the typical RMS and IMS seal oil leak spot, an oil leak on top of the engine is also a possibility given the oil drips on the floor are pretty clean and the car was serviced recently. I would check it properly to make sure.
  24. What they do is play with the electronic possibilities of the E-gas system, on a normal 997 (non sport) the throttle valve move simultaneously with the accelerator pedal, 25% pedal movement = 25% throttle valve opening, 50% pedal movement = 50% throttle valve opening, etc. till full throttle. On a 997 with sport option runs the throttle valve faster than the accelerator pedal, 25% pedal movement = 35% throttle valve opening, 50% pedal movement = 75% throttle valve opening, etc. till full throttle. Both versions are equally fast at full load, only at partial load (till approx. 80% pedal movement) there is a noticeable difference by the modified program.
