  1. Piwis includes a special menu in which the ignition possition can be avoided to do some test in case of a faulty steering column for example, which is a possible cause of your problem also. That option is missing or not working well with a PST2, as far as i remember.

Sorry for the wrong info in this case, over here the pump only run when the management put the system in open loop mode, for example when the O² sensors are not warmed up, cold engine, etc. to dilute in such circumstances the too rich exhaust emissions. Perhaps a difference in local legislation.
  3. belleriver, if i were you i would take a second look, you write in your first post literally, and i quote, "the only other time i heard it was when i got off the highway after about 2 hours of driving" The air pump cant run under this circumstance - hot engine - unless there is something wrong with the management systems, a PIWIS diagnostic tool is needed in that case.
  4. If there is no error code visible on the scanner tool (PIWIS or similar), changing both the ATF fluid as the transmission oil is always the cheapest way and often effective, i would do that to start with.
  5. Remains the same sound with clutch depressed? Has been tried with the poly V belt removed? When the noise is gone than, check all the pulleys.
  6. The length of the antenna wire is indeed important, depending the used frequency (Hertz). US and Europe use, for example, a different frequency and a different length of the antenna wire. Anyway, it can also be the remote or the receiver inside the control box as well.
  7. There must exist an elastic band at the bottom of the top layer, between the inner layers of the fabric, across the width of the convertible top, which pull both outer edges to the middle. Weird that they have not noticed that when removing the old convertible top.
  8. The larger M96/97 bearings are only as of MY 2006 fitted.
  9. Oil in the coolant from a broken AOS is not possible cause lack of pressure on the oil, there is only a thick oil mist present inside the AOS where by a swirl motion and some obstacles, air and residual oil becoming separated, the air goes in to the intake manifold, the residual oil drips in a natural way in to the sump. Coolant in the oil could be theoretical possible for 996 AOS since they are heated on top by the coolant, but i've never seen that phenomenon.

  11. If the spoiler wont go up or down (fully) while driving, the system will, if all goes well, give a visual and/or acoustic signal on the dash.
  12. There is a good change that the compressor starts to hang by excessive internal resistance caused by too much or too little oil, failing AC system, etc. or simple a bad bearing. Let check this it out first.
  13. Since the car is under full warranty (2012) i would visit the dealer for a check with PIWIS 2, could be a program error or a control box fail. Certainly not self-experimenting with during the warranty period.
  14. For LHD Boxster Cyl.3: (Bank1 passenger side) closest to the gearbox.
  15. P 1315 refers to cyl.3 misfire (bank 1 - pass. side LHD 986/7) check the coil connector for proper fitting and don't forget to inspect the #3 injector + connector as well. The misfire concept encompasses more than ignition problems only.
  16. As mentioned by wvicary, more information would be more opportunities to help. The start motor is electronically protected by a timer, it is therefor normal that the start motor shut off after approx. 15 sec. if the engine fails to start.
  17. If the start motor is not activated during the start procedure, check the double functional brake light switch first, the Tiptronic switch is also a possibility but rather exceptional. If the start motor is activated and the engine will not run it could be anything as ignition system, fuel system, sensors etc. The help of a diagnostic tool is recommended in that case.
  18. The oil level should always be at the right level, before starting examination concerns excessive oil consumption/smoke. I would do that first, then do a test drive, the exhaust should be very hot since he is completely contaminated inside with oil residues, and take a look if the smoke is reduced. A bad new AOS is rather exceptional, the cause of the problem may be elsewhere.
  19. You meant 991, a zero is not allowed between the first and last number, this is reserved for Peugeot through a patent. This has been so since the start of production 911 series, the series was meant to be 901 but had to be changed in 911 because of complaints from¨Peugeot.   21. 997 / 987 use no longer the 996 / 986 classic ignition switch design with an electrical / mechanical switch on the rear end of the assy. It has become an electronic unit, this does not mean that the switch has no problems, but you can test / check the switch assy. with a PIWIS diagnostic tool.
  22. The control box has come back in pre delivery mode, you need a PIWIS Porsche diagnostic tool to normalize the programming. Let them run a " New Car Handover " and everything is OK.
  23. 997 are managed by a control box (front), these would cause sometimes problems. Check the connectors visual and use a diagnostic / test tool to check the control box.
  24. I do not know what you've loosened to replace the coolant tank, but the codes refer to cylinder. 4-5 en 6 which are on the opposite ( right ) side of the engine. Is it possible that you chose the wrong row of cylinders for inspection?
  25. The brake light switch on Tiptronic cars has also an immobilizer function (double contact switch), maybe is the resistance between the contact points too big (burned or corroded) or a partial broken wiring. A brake light switch is a cheap part.
