  1. Item # 18 is a level (height) sensor for the automatic height control of headlamps for example. You can drive with the sensor disconnected but it will throw a fault code. It has nothing to do with an angle rotate sensor occurring on the airbag system.
  2. For cars with Return less Fuel System is no periodic replacement specified, only in case of fuel supply problems, contaminated fuel, etc. The filter is indeed integrated in the fuel pump assy. together with the fuel gauge lever arm and the fuel pump, but individually replaceable.
  3. I see no DIY regarding the remote, a visit to the dealer seems inevitable. The other problems are common when using the key to open the doors which will disappear when the remote is repaired or replaced. (ROW 996)
  4. As already mentioned by other forum members, at such an exemption fault codes must occur. Unless the MIL bulb is defective or removed by a fun person.
  5. There are several possibilities, therefor it is not advisable to tamper with the wiring's or connectors before the error code is stored in a diagnostic tool. When a connector is disconnected (power/ground interruption) the code will be lost and everything seems normal while that is not so. First thing to do is Read and Note the code(s)
  6. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/14923-horn-only-works-when-car-off/page__st__20__p__80697#entry80697 Perhaps this can help also if there is any symptom comparison.
  7. Yes it is a so called "Tandem pump" which means two pumps in the same body.
  8. If it is a non modified DME, i still think on a in sport mode blocked DME at least concerning the pedal/throttle valve function. The DME put no code because he regarded this as normal, anyway this is visible with a PIWIS to compare the pedal possition(s) with the throttle opening(s) values. Probably runs the throttle faster than the pedal like it should be with a car in sport mode.
  9. The fluid is the same, but if you replace the fluid it is necessary to bleed and test the system by a PIWIS 1 or 2. The pump is very sensitive to air bubbles and is therefore problematic.
  10. Just a thought, is the system not in sports mode? (sport chrono)
  11. I can agree with JFP, refill is no solution nor alternative to extend oil exchange(s).
  12. It is still possible that the pump is leaking a bit, if the hydraulic fluid level drops after a while, then are you sure. The fluid does not disappear without a reason.
  13. The possibility of a cracked diaphragm spring is indeed present IMHO.
  14. At the end it is the DME which trow the cat. error code, the DME get that info from the values given by the pre and post cat. O² sensors. In other words it concerns the cat. between both sensors (the controlled one). The other cat. on the same cylinder bank has no sensors and therefor not controlled by the system and no fault code showed. The good functioning of the uncontrolled cat. can be checked by performing a supplementary exhaust gas test (4 gas test O² - CO² - HC - CO)
  15. The cross member is mounted on fixed points, there are no slot holes for the bolts provided. A small shift of max. 1mm is maybe possible but not obvious. In extreme cases, after checking whether the monocoque and cross member are not crooked or damaged, the mounting holes on top of the strut can be a little milled out so that slot holes be obtained in order to achieve the specified camber values as such. It must be said that this course of action can only be applied when the differences are minimal and if nothing is damaged. It can be a solution for people who want a perfect alignment comply with the specifications, although it is far more important to have the camber on equal values on both sides even though they are a bit off of the specified specifications. Hope that your question is be answered to your satisfaction.
  16. PM member "Porschelibrarian" perhaps he can help you out.
  17. 997 551 803 00 should be the part # if i got it right.
  18. Beautiful piece of work, but like already mentioned, probably not worth the money.
  19. Loren, the part in question is not on the image. JK probably meant the two quick lock screws belonging to the lid of the tool kit/tire repair kit holder, which is located near the fire wall, on the bottom of the trunk, under part # 1 (997 C2/ 987). Is it possible that the tool kit illustration contains the needed parts?
  20. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/39889-navigation-issue/ however, the answer was already given in your other topic.
  21. At the same time i would replace the oil Pressure sensor, they are often a source of annoyance. You can find, and clear, the codes on oil pressure, brake fluid level, etc. in the menu "Combi Instrument" (instrument cluster) if available on Durametric, if not use a PIWIS.
  22. No, the radio goes not in mute mode. You can set the navigation voice louder or quieter versus the radio voice through the PCM menu, the how to do is included in the PCM manual delivered together with the maintenance manual. If you do not have received the manual, he will be here on this site ready to down load.
  23. Any decent shop should be able to do an alignment, be sure they have the right specs for your type car/suspension. Do not forget to top up the fuel tank before the alignment take place.
  24. This is one of the known problems with panoramic roof, first you have to find out if the squeaking comes from the unit (roof frame) itself or the glass plates.
  25. I agree concerning the allu./silic. mix in the entire engine block, some of the water cooled flat six engines are suffering with the same issue. What was remarkable about the problem is that it always was one of the front cylinders showed that issue, not random, both the V8, mostly Turbo, and the flat six. I have seen about eight or nine of these till 2009 when i retired. However, i would be surprised if it was ever caused by foreign bodies. I think they know more on this issue in Stuttgart.
