  1. Start with the error codes, they are needed to have an idea what the issue is related to, are you sure the Redline fluid have the same specs as the OEM fluid?, it is so that a fluid which does not meets the OEM specs can destroy the Tiptronic in the longer term, not only from one day to another. Once the oil has done its destructive work, it is very difficult to impossible to save the Titronic with OEM specs fluid when the damage is already done.
  2. When you say that the error is NOT to erase with the engine OFF and the ignition ON, than you have probably an electronic/electric error, sensor/wiring/control box, this kind of problems.
  3. Have they already checked the brake light switch, on the pedal or the unit, depending MY? The control box can also be broken, loose contact or so, anyway all this has to be measured out in one or an other way.
  4. In fact the ignition lock is also a dummy, this means that keys of other Cayennes also fit into the lock and can run to the start position. However the startmotor will not activate since the transponder does not match with the receiver in the system (same for 997/987). All dummys are thus also equal, so no need to order by VIN #. I suspect, therefore, that the previous owner has tampered with the ignition lock, the cheapest way is to continue to use the master keys, if you want a perfectly working system in the car you will have to buy a new ignition lock.
  5. It is clear that there is somewhat wrong with the clutch, i would take of the gearbox and change the clutch assy, inclusive the bearing and clutch arm, a stiff clutch operation is never right. A new cylinder assy on this old clutch is a waste of money IMO.
  6. You claim that an new alternator is mounted, maybe the current alternator has no freewheel pulley and the previous does have one? I would consider that first, you never know.
  7. If an adjustment is unsuccessful turn, with a PIWIS, the comfort settings to OFF. If there are no more problems you can be sure that the error sits in the programming.
  8. I have no experience with the use of stainless steel or titanium lug bolts, however there are a few very important things where attention should be given to: the thread lenght and the shape of the conical part. If they are not perfectly the same then the wheel may come off.
  9. The engine number is stamped on the lower bloc (sump), this number is more intresting than the number on the registration, there they by lazyness rarely get updated. An OPC replace the engine and update the maintenance/waranty booklet but the registration is a task for the customer and there get it sometimes wrong.
  10. WP0ZZZ98Z6U7..... should already have the latest update, it would still help if you have the engine number as listed.
  11. Take a good look, after disconnecting the alternator, the rear mount (with the bushing) it happens that when tapping too hard to get back the bushing the mount hairline cracks will show, which after a few hundred miles or more, under the influence of vibrations, will break down with a loose alternator and broken belt as a minimal result.
  12. Is the immobilizer be released? Try with the spare key, an error in the immobilizer system can sometimes occur, such errors are easy to figure out with a Porsche specific diagnostic device.

  14. The bearing where JP is talking about can indeed be the cause, some Cayenne have(had)also suffered from. However, a little lubrication helps only temporarely, if you can not live with, only a rebuild can help.
  15. The Tiptronic shown is a MB for A96.10 (C2) or A96.35 (C4). I fear that only specialized remanufacturers have the right parts at their disposal for repair.
  16. The outside lever mechanism will sometimes crack from the inside, on one side, causing an imbalance occurs when it is operated. Anyway, this will be viewed still from closer by.
  17. High injector times means that the DME leave the injectors longer open for some reason, the accuracy of the incoming engine temp., Lambda signals, engine RPM, open and closed loop condition, faulty DME and more are there for responsible. If a chipped DME is used it could also be the program. After all, a tuner has only two possible ways to inject more fuel in to the cylinders with the used OEM injectors, let them open longer (too long?) or increase the fuel pressure.
  18. To deal with excessive pollution on the intake valves on DI engines some manufacturers, as Audi on their 3 generation TFSI engine, use a "dual injection system" high pressure (directly in the cylinder) and low pressure (in the intake manifold) what sould lead to a better result.   19. + 1 for Dr Wood, either you have no PCCB brake system or there is something wrong with. Check this out first.
  20. The ABS control box is integraly built with the hydraulic group, in the front trunk, right in front of the brake master cylinder.
  21. Not necessary, there is a nut fixedly welded allong the inner side of the damper bracket, at least with an genuine drop link which is clearly not yours.
  22. Usually it's about a leaking waterpump, but it would be nice and more effective if you mention type and model year of the car please.
  23. Furst and foremost, ALL 996 were build in Germany - Stuttgart hence the caracter "S" in the VIN#. The VIN# on the chassis should have to match with the VIN# on the dash, anyway some registration authorities, as in Belgium, only deal with the VIN# stamped on the chassis. So it would be best that in the past another, used dash mounted due to damage or for other reasons, so the registration seems correct. Hope it helps.
  24. Windshield sealant is indeed a specific product, approved for use with airbags. I would go back to the shop, which has placed the windshield, to have it redone, perhaps warranty?
