  1. The handbrake cables can hit the tyre and is only visible with the car on the floor.
  2. I would check both power steer lines ( from the pump to the steering rack ) first for damage ( crushed ), it's not the first time someone destroyed the lines while changing out the engine.
  3. 18 inch wheel = 8.0 J x 18 ET 57 tyres 255/55 R 18 19 inch wheel = 9.0 J x 19 ET 60 tyres 275/45 R 19 You can change the wheels without problem.
  4. Let check the car on fault codes, it's the cheapest way to go after all.
  5. Do your self a favour and buy a new tube.
  6. Bank 2 is on the passengers side for LHD cars ( right side ) 996/997, cylinders 4-5-6.
  7. It is possible to install a solid pulley on cars with manual transmission without differences or issues, take note that solid pulleys needs metal rollers instead of plastic rollers. Solid pulleys gives too much wear on plastic rollers, you have to change them out for metal ones.
  8. The part # is 996 613 113 01 if the car is equipped with the BROWN colored body brake switch, price = € 8.00
  9. I would check the battery first, than the starter and the grounds. If the solenoid will click, you can exclude the ignition and clutch switch already.
  10. Correct, use the situation to clean the radiators environment too.
  11. Good question, the system is not separated left/right on a 996 like the Cayenne have, there is only a flap in one piece on the heater.
  12. Remove the head lights - pull ( slide ) out with a hook the long clips, which are the locks on the connection, top bumper shell to body work, in the direction of the empty head light room - remove the trim ( rubber lip ) which covers the trunk lock - remove the screws - remove the front half of the inner wheel well - remove the screw bumper shell to body work ( let the side lights in place ) - remove all the screws on the bottom of the bumper shell - pull the bumper shell a little forward - disconnect the head lights washer tube ( if installed ) on the left side - disconnect the electric connector on the right side - pull off bumper shell. Enjoy.
  13. Probably the electro servomotor(s) which activate the flaps in the aircon system, a good part of Cayenne's have this issue. If it is too annoying, change them out. The flaps are always working AC on or off, you have to shut the climate control complete off to eleminate the noise.
  14. Just gentle pull of, starting on the left or right bottom corner.
  15. There are two different covers available, depending which type of intermediate shaft is used. They are not interchangeable, in fact the update concerns the width of the O-ring, older engines have a small O-ring and the revised covers have a much larger O ring.
  16. Do a search, alternator removal is discussed here many times ( 996 and 986 forum ). In most cases, the alternator can be repaired.
  17. Strange ADias, looks more something for 997/987 with electronic lock.
  18. You need the fault codes to have an idea what precisely is wrong whit the system, any way the key can reprogrammed ( or try to do ) if you still have the digit code label.
  19. If you have got no problems before the tire change, a good chance that the new ones are the culprit than.
  20. I would check the fuel system first, if the car have no fault codes. Since the car will turn over, the ignition and clutch/brake switch looks OK.
  21. There is no difference between the driver and passenger window, they act the same.
  22. Run a ROW Euro-norm 3 program on the DME. The pre cat. O2 sensors have to stay in place, the cats can be dropped and no cel light will come on.
  23. Have not tried yet, but i cant see way not, the seats and the rails have the same measurements IMHO.
  24. I'm surprised why Americans put money in a ordinary M 96 street motor, you can see that the distance between the rear crankshaft bearing and the flange, is too large. The acting oscillation by a small imbalance has since the introduction of the engine problems ( one of the RMS causes ) M 96 construction is too weak to be powered. Nobody use this type of engine for track here, they all use GT2 and GT3 based engines, for the more rigid crankcase and shaft. X-51 and a little more will be OK for a reasonable M 96 engine lifetime, but not too much. Just my opinion.
  25. The wiring will crack inside the insulation approx. 1 cm under the rubber grommet which is connected on the wheel arch. ( part between the strut and and the wheel arch ) You have to cut the insulator, inclusive the grommet, open to see the break.
