  1. Contact your dealer, there is something wrong with the PCM.
  2. The boat paddle you found is the connector between the lock cylinder and the door lock. That's the reason way you cant lock the door with the key.
  3. One year is indeed pretty quick, you have to take a look. Are the codes and the values read by PIWIS?
  4. O2 sensors voltage have to fluctuate, if they don't change out the sensor. Replacing all the coils is the best option.
  5. White, start your engine after the winter with removed fuel pump fuse ( approx. 10 sec. ) till oil pressure is present, install the fuse and fire up the engine, easy to do and effective. Add synthetic 2 stroke oil ( 1cc per liter fuel ) in the gas tank, on your last run before the winter and let the engine not running before spring is come
  6. I would start with a clean up of the idle valve, which is mounted on the left side of the throttle body. You can find here the DIY procedure in the relevant section.
  7. The compass sits in the cluster and works autonomous, the reason is if the car is equipped with the navigation option and you drive through a long tunnel, the GPS antenna ( sat. signal reception ) may be disturbed or drop out, the compass will take over temporary and limited.
  8. In the right corner behind the glove box ( under the interior filter ), practically the same possition as in the Cayenne, 3 or 4 small bolts to remove and slide out.
  9. Westcoaster, i don't think so, just build dates and engine # in the factory. I haven't see any TB and communication was never their speciality, anyway the M96 engine is replaced by MA 102 (3.6) and MA 101 (3.8) on the 997 gen.2. 987 and 987C could be the next ones.
  10. Definitely yes, all MY 06 have the latest update on the shaft, without issues till now. Fingers crossed.
  11. Correct, a disconnected switch is out of service, even on a Cayenne.
  12. Interior fan motor replacement labor time 996= approx. 15 minutes. Airbag maintenance ( profound check up airbag system - not only fault codes reading ) labor time= approx. 15 minutes. Not that cheap over there.
  13. As i thought, it ends up with a shaft replacement. Their solution looks like the latest Porsche up date ( new and factory rebuild M 96 >06 ), thanks for the info.
  14. You need Sport Chrono + to have the launch control option.
  15. In this case a visit to the dealer is recommended, a restart of "Vehicle handover" is required.
  16. Close and lock the car with the remote, wait one minute, open the car with the remote, enter the key in the ignition switch, ignition on and try again. Some control boxes in 997 needs a restart.
  17. Kevin The bearing is accessible on all models M96 ( they are pressed in the hollow shaft ) but not retractable on the older ones without messing up the engine, the newer ones with a blocking spring clip visible looks practicable but both timing chains have to be released and the camshafts locked, also there is always a chance to destroy the oil pump, the shaft is a semi "floating" type hold by the oil pump drive in the front and hold by the bolt in the rear bearing on the rear of the engine, with two timing chains and one drive chain from the crankshaft around the shaft. If there will something happen who disturbs the balance, it's over. I will speak the person who take the risk and give two years warranty on the engine with the approach the article mentioned, writhing articles and build engines are two different worlds IMHO.
  18. Perhaps you can change from "side marker" to "direction indicator" via PIWIS with the latest update, i did it with a 997 last week, not sure for Cayenne MY 09.
  19. If the glass door switch is made in Germany, you got the right one. If the switch is made in France, they give you the bad one, take a look on the back side of the switch. If the switch looks OK there are other things to check, lock, wiring, button in drivers door , etc. your dealer can find it out with his PIWIS tester.
  20. Check or change the brake light switch on the pedal to solve the brake light problem, take a look on the fuse if the AMPS are the same as it should, put a right one in and if the right fuse will blown than search the cause.
  21. Take note that the 7th gear ( overdrive ) shifts only in automatic mode, not in manual mode.
  22. OK, i thought the reference was MY 99>01 which have the not separately replaceable bearing, the bearing hold by a outside spring clips is younger.
  23. A replacement throttle body is the only option, some 04>06 suffer with that problem.
