  1. The wiring route looks too sloppy to be factory install, must be some stuff of the previous owner IMHO.
  2. There is no devaluation if you take pics of the damage, before, during and after the works, to have some proof of evidence. Together with the invoice, it will be OK.
  3. I would check the A/C drain again, if the drain is blocked or clogged, condensation water can penetrate in to the central part of the unit and from there through the seams dripping inside. The whole A/C unit is not fully waterproof till the top.
  4. You have made the right choice, as cleaning freak, to choose the Boxster's engine room IMHO. B)
  5. Someone with a PIWIS or similar diagnostic tool can help you out, the showed fault codes can lead you in the right direction.
  6. A check with the PIWIS diagnostic tool will show you some fault codes, which are crucial to diagnose the mentioned problems on the car.
  7. Vario-Ram was used in the latest air coolers, not on M96 engines. Vario-Cam + (variable camshaft adjustment + variable valve lift) irrelevant on M96 986 engines. Vario-Cam is possible.
  8. If the gearbox react as you describes, than you have a Tiptronic S. The aim is to use the buttons, while the gearbox is in AUTO, instead of the kick down function, less brutal, faster shift time and more control/car feeling when up shifting (within 8 seconds)
  9. It's the difference between Tiptronic and Tiptronic S, the Tip. S allows the possibility to shift with the buttons, while the gearbox is in AUTO, during 8 seconds.
  10. The cooling water tubes coming from the engine to the front radiators are located under the console, although separated by the car under plate, but hot enough to warm up the console area. The reason why it felt more or different, with the windows down is a change/disturbing of the in-car air flow by the heater/AC fan. Nothing to worry about as long as smoke will stay out. :)
  11. Let the warm engine after a run idling with the A/C OFF, that allows you to have a much easier and less confusing control about the fans working cycle.
  12. Any official Robert Bosch automotive branch center should help you out.
  13. When the spoiler is programmed to go up at 120Km/h and down at 80Km/h, and the car speed is fluctuating between those two reference points several times in a short time, it can happen.
  14. If it is the voltage regulator, you can (let) replace the regulator for a couple of $, and do the test again.
  15. I would change the tyres (4) with approved brands and N-coded, fill up the gas tank till MAX. and do an alignment in a reputable shop.
  16. The car needs a PIWIS diagnostic tool to pin point some problems since she suffers with windows and related problems.
  17. There are Allen bolts behind the carpet, push the carpet downwards with the Allen key through the holes, then you can enter the key in to the bolt head, loose the bolts 2 turns and pull of the trim (5 mm. Allen key if I'm correct)
  18. Replace the Tiptronic oil pan gasket, it will solve your problem. Also a good opportunity to change the filter and ATF fluid.
  19. The phenomenon can occur when the car speed balance, for a certain time, with the spoiler programmed retracting or rising speed point. Retract the spoiler manually with the button and keep an eye on it if it is repeated or not.
  20. The leaking plastic tubes are part of the earlier cylinder head design (MY02 and older) ROW MY03 should have the newer design cylinder heads with steel (non leaking) tubes, and a different approach to get them out if needed, with emphasis on "if".
  21. I would suspect the voltage regulator ( build in alternator ). Let check the alternator again during at least 30 minutes under load, try to create the same conditions as you have experienced while driving.
  22. Yes, with at least the doors closed, with the doors open the windows will stop at the usual, approx. 5 mm. from the upper stop possition.
  23. If you disconnect the battery, the DME will reset not only the memory but the actual values also, that's why the engine runs better if the parameters are not too much out of the permitted values. Let check the DME "actual values" with a PIWIS or similar diagnostic tool when the car is suffering with hesitations, even with the CEL out (no fault codes found)
  24. Sometimes the outside shifter mechanism will bend during the removal and installation of the gearbox, check if the mechanism hit the gearbox case, especially the front to rear movement mechanism ( first gear versus second etc. )
  25. As Bob Z says, and if necessary with the lock also. The middle of the hood front edge must lie 1 mm. deeper than the upper edge of the front bumper, same for the rear hood, middle of the rear edge must lie 1 mm. deeper than the upper edge of the fully retracted spoiler (987 new car)
