  1. I'm pretty sure, the "thick black plastic" you seen under the left wheel well liner is the washer tank.
  2. It's a common issue on 986, you have to vacuum and blow out the filter housing with compressed air, before installing the new filter element.
  3. I would start with a intensive throttle body cleaning and await the outcome, before i take further steps.
  4. There are some "marbles" inside the tank to reach the exact quantity of fuel as stated in the manual (the capacity of the fuel tanks are higher than stated, Porsche put some "marbles" in the tank to compensate this.)
  5. The wiper arms should be removed by a special tool, a kind of separator, the arms are very hard to remove without the tool and that's the reason why the support will break off once in a while. Slide with one hand under the plastic trim and grab with the other hand the wiper axle, wiggle from left to right with the axle and feel for excessive play.
  6. As i mentioned in the post above, no need to bleed the ABS unit if you bleed the new master cylinder first. The brake calipers must be bleed on the inner nipple first and than the outer nipple.
  7. Check in first place the wiper mechanism support under the black plastic trim, some will break off by removing the wiper arms for a wind screen replacement. If it is not the case, lubricate with some oil, the wiper arms and springs, on the lower pivot point, pull the arms away from the wind screen and push them back at least 20 times or more if necessary, test the wiper function again. If no result, replace the wiper arms.
  8. The master cylinder could be the culprit (brake fluid is leaking inside the brake booster), but i have seen some leaking ABS units as well. Check under the front trunk carpet, in the ABS unit area, for brake fluid traces. The master cylinder can be bleed separately, start bleeding the new cylinder, right rear wheel, left rear wheel, right front wheel and left front wheel with at least one litre of new brake fluid.
  9. These fault code combination indicates indeed a faulty MAF, especially P0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor/below lower limit. Perhaps a wrong part # ? Check the connector/wiring for corrosion and or proper fitting as well.
  10. Bad drive shaft, loose wheel, worn bearing all these components are potential causes. Let check the car to be sure.
  11. Agree with PTEC, there is even more, if the instructions in the manual, concerning the exact door lock possition and handling, are not exactly implemented, there is a possibility that the door will no longer open. :o
  12. In some cases, the floater arm on the pump unit will get stuck behind a fuel line inside the tank, especially after a fuel pump replacement.
  13. 997/1 Tiptronic steering wheel should work on 996 Tiptronic cause the same system, 997/2 PDK could be different, i never have check it out.
  14. A loose welding point is sometimes the cause, but difficult to pin point. Success.
  15. Probably a door lock issue, you need the fault codes to be sure.
  16. Just fill up the coolant tank till the top, Cayenne's gives no problems with air bubbles or what ever.
  17. From above: remove the engine top cover - use a mirror between the fire wall and the left rear side of the engine. On a lift: easier to look at the sensor, left side on top of the bell housing. If you have basketball player arms you can work on it from there, if not, use the first option.
  18. 48.000 miles on the car with the first front pads replacement at 20.000 miles, it looks like you can go for a complete set of pads, front and rear. Check the front rotors for wear as well, usually they are worn after two pads changes.

  20. The warning is probably disabled, use a PIWIS tool to enable the passenger warning.
  21. This is not a specific Boxster problem, in fact it's a Porsche problem. The best fix is a replacement by a good Italian horn manufacturer, better quality and higher db.
  22. That's the easiest way you can go, success.
  23. Start with cleaning the THROTTLE BODY and the IDLE VALVE, which is bold on the left side of the throttle body. Pretty sure they are build up with carbon, please use the search function for DIY.
  24. The light gos on if the sensor wiring is interrupted or made contact with ground (brake rotor).
  25. Broken Gas Lock. Please give the search a try.
