  1. The double row bearings are hold and saved by a circular steel spring, which is not accessible from outside, between the inner side of the tube and the outer cover of the bearing, and are very difficult to remove without damaging the tube, oil pump drive, etc. on the opposite side of the tube, one of the reasons Porsche refuses to sell the bearing separately. Single row bearings cause no problems by a replacement, the resistance is much less. Success.
  2. In the old days Porsche used rotors with 2 threaded holes in (between the wheel bold holes, downwards) all you had to do was screw in two long M8 bolts, one by one, the bolt ends hits the hub and pushed off the rotor, this of course was too easy to repeat.
  3. Have you installed the rubber seal strips in the upper middle of the (transverse) system, whether you have the longitudinal system?
  4. Injectors bank 1 or 2, should be in the manual. Not difficult, since there are not much fuses in that box.
  5. The most common issue, which made a clunk noise and hit the under tray, is the main drive shaft bearing. Curious for the outcome.
  6. Check in the fuse box (under the wipers trim, left site in the engine compartment) there will be a fuse faulty (injectors) caused by the melted coil. The engine runs on one cylinder bloc for the moment.
  7. @ ssflai, in case of several RMS changes, use the factory instructions: 1) check with the special tool set if the crankshaft flange is placed exact in the middle of the crankcase, if not, replace the engine bloc. 2) if this is OK, place the updated seal using the special tools. Check also if the outer surfaces of the engine bloc (hole ware the seal fits) not have been damaged by removing the previous seals. Place in any case the seal without the tool, they will leak for sure after time.
  8. The PCM issue can be the result of the i-pod FM modulator, check also the fuse on the rear of the unit. If you cant see anything, a PIWIS should be needed.
  9. Nothing loose inside the trunk, under the carpet, tools, control boxes or similar objects ? It's just an idea.
  10. If there was no job done on the cooling system, no air can come in. A small water leak is still possible, radiators, water pump, piping, etc. even a bad cap may cause this problem. The cooling system can be checked out for leaks with a test device, which puts pressure on the water circuit.
  11. What were the present fault codes ? It surprised me that they simply replace parts without measurements, control box, antennas..., looks like guessing. Some cars suffers with a damaged wiring under the trunk carpet, caused by cargo, rear seats area. Easy to find with the help of a OHM meter, these are the wires from the control box to the rear antennas (inside + under the rear bumper shell hidden antennas) Remove the connectors from the box and antennas and start the measurements, short, short to ground, broken wire, a power fail between the box and the source is also a possibility, an electrical diagram and PIWIS Fault Find program should be helpful as well. Kessy is simply a "difficult" and "sensitive" optional part. Success.
  12. I would check the multi-V belt if i was you, looks like a broken belt from some reason.
  13. Take note that US and ROW remotes use different frequencies, they are not interchangeable.
  14. Spacers (5mm./10mm.) should always be fitted with longer bolts, 15mm. spacers have studs and are fitted with the standard length bolts. Important!! If the car is equipped with longer bolts (spacers), take a set of standard bolts in the trunk for use with the small spare tyre, longer bolts can damage the hand brake shoe mechanism inside the rear brake rotors.
  15. 1128 and 1130 = DME on RICH threshold for BOTH cylinder banks = air leak applicable to both banks (something central: bellows, oil filler tube/cap, AOS, tank vent., rubber sleeves intake manifold, vacuum lines/connectors, brake booster, etc.) or MAF sensor, are most common. 1117 = O2 sensor heating, post cat. bank 1 0446 = EVAP canister shut off valve function below lower limit. I would check that system closer 0446 and 1128/1130 could be related, clear 1117 and look if it come back.
  16. A fault code readout should always be the first thing to do, whether the CEL is on or not, with a good diagnostic tool.
  17. I did not say that it is not possible, i just gave the original tyres size for 17 inch 987 rims and the potential problems associated with. The try out is your responsibility.
  18. I cant say on a RHD, but i suppose that the box is also near the steering column, just lower the plastic trim (with the interior light) under the dash to take a look.
  19. I would check the fault codes first, KESSY is a maze-like system without a descent diagnostic/programming tool. Several antennas are inside the car and in the rear bumper, the control box sits under the dash on the right side of the steering column along with other control boxes, KESSY boxes are all the same (KESSY system or not, just different programmed)
  20. 987 OEM 17 inch rims are mounted with a little for Porsche unusual tyre sizes: front 205/55/17 and rear 235/50/17 instead of the more usual tyre sizes on the 987 optional 18 and 19 inch rims and the 986 17 inch rims. It is important to reach the same overall wheel height (inclusive tyre), with the 987 wheels as with the 986 wheels on your car to provide strange phenomenons as unexplained Tiptronic, ABS, TC, etc. problems. 987 is wider than a 986 also, i never don it but i would take a good look, you never know with this balloon tyres, they take a lot of room, especially the rear ones.
  21. Take a look if you can re tighten the lower column bolts (in the pedal box area) where they meet the steering rack coupler, check all the column fastening bolts to the dash, lubricate the column sliding parts, on the full length with grease, check the steering rack for inside axial play (pinion and rack), check all the steering rack fastening bolts to the chassis. Nice and easy job to start with.
  22. Is the process not that, if the car is equipped with a PCM 3.0 HIGH system (voice control/40GB hard drive/TV/etc.), the unit becomes updated with a PIWIS subject a payment? I never did it, cause there was no update available at that time.
  23. Could be a bad valve lifter (Vario Cam+ system on DFI V8 engines), bad injection pattern, damaged butterfly valve on the variable intake system inside the intake manifold, etc. Each combustion pressure imbalance between cylinders is detected as misfire, not only just the plugs and coils. Since the car is a 08, you should have still warranty, make an appointment with your dealer and let them do the job.
  24. If the noise is only there at cold start, and during a couple of minutes, check the second air pump to be sure, despite the fact that the pump RPM is independent on the engine RPM. Otherwise it should be in the engine (camshaft?) or clutch (release bearing?) hard to say through the internet.
  25. 987 also have the sticker on the inside of the hood, at least if the dealer has done his job properly. It is, of course always possible that there is a new hood installed due an earlier car accident.
