  1. The clicking sound is caused by the temp. flap/motor combination, this happens not completely noiseless. Since the car is still covered with warranty, i would check it out for sure and peace of mind.
  2. The AC condenser fan is also the cooling fan, you have to remove the front wheel on the same side of the defective fan. It's up to you to know which fan is defective (fault codes), left or right.
  3. The catcher (hook) is located in the trunk, on the floor.
  4. The oil level sensor is located on top of the engine bloc under the intake manifold, approx. in the middle/right side.
  5. Yes, the front and rear window seals are changeable without removing the windows, they just pull out. They should even out first before the window can be removed.
  6. This is an easy question, separate the electrical part of the lock unit, try if the key now works properly, if yes, the electric part is bad, if not, the lock unit is the culprit.
  7. The engine room ventilation fan may not always on, certainly not with cold engine, some possible causes are: DME error, DME poorly programmed, sensor failure, wiring/connector failure. I would be inspected the issue if i was you.
  8. The chart is correct, the rest is wishful thinking.
  9. PTEC has it right, it comes with the allu. door sills sold as spare part, they are used to clean up the paint, after removing the old OEM standard plastic door sills, then the allu. sills are glued on the clean paint.
  10. Be especially careful that the correct tyre pressure is set, and the tank full of fuel !!!!
  11. That kind of sensors have no direct contact with cooling water, it is certainly not the sensor, rather the tank it self, as Loren mentioned.
  12. If all fusses are OK, i would start with a brake light switch check/replacement, the switch will solve the three problems, PSM/ABS, brake lights and Tiptronic park lock.
  13. They probably mean the secondary air system, a conventional EGR system is not present. It is important, in all cases, to note the fault code(s).

Looks normal to me, at slow speed, hot engine, and under the circumstances you describe, the transmission use the second gear, with W.O.T. the Tiptronic will switch back to first gear and stay there till the max. RPM is reached or the accelerator is released. You can (let) read out the fault memories with a diagnostic tool for peace of mind.
  16. A second important spot to look at are the air entrance and exit in the front doors, sometimes the air exit holes in the doors do not/bad match with the air entrance in the B pillar (loose grill, damaged seal, door badly adjusted) You can check it out if you put some tape on the dashboard air exit/connection between door and dashboard, so that no airflow can pass through the inner door air channels.
  17. The whistle is caused by air pressure inside the car, the pressure escapes through small cracks and holes which are in direct contact with the outside air (door and window seals). Behind the removable trim, left and right, in the trunk are two ventilation grilles which are covered by a rubber membrane, make sure the grilles are free of dirt, junk, etc. cut away a small part of the membrane such that direct contact occurs between outside air and car interior, the pressure will escape without that annoying whistle.
  18. There was a DME update about 3 years ago and a intervention in the fuse box for some countries.

Indeed the last M engine series (MY06) have had a small adjustment pump/engine inside water channels, concerning amelioration of water flow, but unfortunately, by limitation of the available opportunities of the specific design, not far enough, the result on slow traffic and at idle (low RPM) would be even better.
  20. Creating supplementary air vents in the plastic wheel well does any harm to the air flow, but as said it does not help much. A third radiator and/or a lower degree thermostat are also limited help and under certain circumstances, if you've followed the discussion in an other topic on this forum, you will establish that both, the pro and contras, for a piece being right and not. If you make the comparison with other European cars, Porsche use the same temperature thermostat, the cooling system contains twice the quantity on cooling water (more than 20 litre) and use the double on cooling surface area (radiator area). The real trouble is, IMHO, by design, pump, engine, at certain RPM's, the limited water flow.
  21. There are several possibilities, first of all, an electrical diagram is highly recommended: read possible fault codes - check brake pedal switch, connector and wiring - check Tiptronic switch, connector, wiring and cable adjustment, the positions with start release are: Park and Neutral - relay + holder and wiring under the carpet rear of the car, clam shell area (cabrio) - alarm control box (start release) connectors and wiring - start motor itself, connectors and wiring - check the ground cables for poor contact and/or resistance, engine to chassis, chassis to battery - check power cable battery to start motor/alternator for poor contact and/or resistance - are the ignition switch, connector and wiring well placed and not damaged ? There will be still some points to check out but you can start with these. Success in further research work.

  23. For the Northern European market is 0w-40 recommended, 5w-50 can also be used, but certainly not heavier. 10w-..... is already too thick at cold start in winter temperatures.
  24. Since you have replaced the camshaft chains, variocams etc. would it not be possible that the cause of your problem can be found in this area? Some M96 engines have only one camshaft sensor (country dependant), the cylinder bank without the sensor can not put a fault code in that case.
  25. The hot air escapes, with the help of the little front spoilers (in front of the wheels) which create vacuum, through the hole under and behind the radiators, just in front of the spoilers. The mod as mentioned above will not get rid of your problem.
