  1. You can test the starter yet on the bench to see if he is working properly, there is no need to assemble the starter in the car, usually save some work in case of malfunction.
  2. The result looks good, an analysis may indeed never hurts. They are fast there too, it's a German lab for something.
  3. Good and clear explanation with regard to the bearing and his lubrication conditions, the oil level on MAX. and an annual or 15.000 Km oil exchange interval indeed helps a lot, and certainly in combination with a ceramic bearing. Thanks for the valuable input
  4. If the alternator has a freewheel pulley, than he will probably stuck. Replace the pulley if that is the case, special tool is needed.
  5. There will be something wrong with the transponder inside the key or the receiver, what's the result with the second key? Haven't tried yet?
  6. Manuals are available here for contributing members, as far as i remember.
  7. I don't no which radio is installed, but some of them have a additional fuse on the rear of the unit. I would take a look there in first place.
  8. Nice, this is getting interesting.
  9. ROW = Rest Of the World (specification). What means MOW?
  10. The car seems to have it under load, i would still suspect the differential. Quaffe products are indeed not the quietest, take contact with the company and let them hear the audio recording.
  11. What you need: PIWIS - workshop manual - measuring instrument - flat level floor. Place the vehicle on a flat level floor, measuring with the instrument the height between some specific measuring points on the chassis and the floor (specific instructions in the manual), bring the measured values, each by each, in to the PIWIS. Piwis will correct and adjust the car height to the specific level. All this should take not too much time but requires some knowledge.
  12. I would like to add that the operation times for the buttons (trunk) can be changed in 3 different degrees of sensitivity (delays) with a PIWIS diagnostic tool.
  13. Yes it's normal behaviour with warm engine. The gearbox is only in first gear with cold engine, the warming up duration time of the O² sensors, or when manual manipulated.
  14. Depends if your car is Europe (ROW) or US spec. European fuel and evap system are different than US. Use the specific parts manual.
  15. There is no need to remove the engine, not even lowering on a Tiptronic. It takes more time and is harder to do due a lack of room around the gearbox area, but it is still doable.
  16. The comfort settings of the car should probably programed again with a PIWIS diagnostic tool, this problem will happen once in a while. The key behavior (trunk) is normal, it takes approx. 2/3 seconds before reacting, you need not to push harder than usual just longer.
  17. The error is probably in the cluster (memory trip/odo). Each time the door is locked, by the remote or the key, the power to the cluster is shut down, the power comes back in when you open the door through the lock. I assume that the memory function inside the cluster is defective.
  18. They can be subtracted using a fork (preferably) or two screwdrivers. It is important to know way the rod is broken to prevent recurrence.
  19. Remove the liner below the glove box to have access to the blower motor. (LHD cars)
  20. Probably just, a loose or broken gearshift cable(s), take a look under the car while a helper operate the shifter, this will make more clear. Use the side search function, there are certainly examples of this problem to be found in 986 and 996 forum.
  21. Positive: MY 06 - electronics and engine are already updated. The overall condition of the car must bee in accordance with the requested price. If i were you i would look around a bit further, given the current situation in Europe and in particular Greece, certainly there will be multiple and better opportunities arise.
  22. It's about the RON standard which is listed in the European (Porsche) vehicle specifications.
  23. 98 octane is a standard here,it is available at every petrol station. Some filling stations ( ARAL and SHELL ), especially on the highways, also sell 100 octane. They claim, at full acceleration and especially turbo engines, better performance. Anyway i've instinctively at least never encountered any advantage.
  24. If there is driven too long with the cable which has a too high resistance, you may be sure that the starter motor is damaged by too much heat.
  25. If it only a pressure problem, compressor run but provides no or too little pressed air, is there a repair set available at every VW dealer for a reasonable price.
